Abstract

The engine has a single cylinder formed by two hollow crown pieces assembled together (1, 2). Inside this there work a number of combustion units (3) coupled together by arcs so as to form a wheel rotating round a fixed ratchet wheel (6) and equipped with pawls engaging with the wheel so as to allow rotation in one direction only. The units are each formed by a hollow cylindrical chamber (9) closed at one end by a wall (10) acting as the cylinder head, and with a piston (11) working in it coupled to the crankpin of a pinion (14) meshing with a stationary rack (15) mounted on the outside of the single cylinder. The pinions also mesh with a flywheel fixed to the engine drive shaft. There are injection andexhaust ports (18, 19) on the cylinder periphery, and in each combustion unit.
