The invention relates to a pressure limiting and regulating valve for gas supply systems, in particular gas bottle filling systems. The valve is arranged in the feed line and automatically prevents a further pressure increase on the discharge side after a certain adjustable pressure has been reached, but on the other hand also automatically enables a free flow of gas after the discharge side pressure has fallen below a set target value.
As a result, gas bottle overfilling is prevented without the undesired use of the safety valves of the filling system, in particular when they are optionally used for different gas bottle filling pressures.
The pressure limiting and regulating valve therefore takes on the task of a safety device.
To date, there are no known automatic pressure-limiting and regulating valves designed for large amounts of gas and high pressure.
A particular danger in connection with the compression of gases is, among other things, inadvertent overfilling of the gas cylinders above the maximum permissible, officially specified filling pressure. Such overfilling is possible in spite of the existing safety valves arranged in the line network if gas cylinders are filled with a lower filling pressure on a filling system designed for a certain pressure and the gas cylinder valves are mistakenly not closed when the maximum permissible filling pressure is reached. An impermissible overfilling is also possible if a gas cylinder heating caused by the adiabatic filling process is not properly compensated.
In addition, the safety valves are often set in practice so that the response pressure of the same corresponds to the concession pressure of the stationary pressure vessels arranged in the pipeline network for procedural reasons. For practical reasons, the concession pressure of such pressure vessels is usually chosen so that it is not exceeded even in the event of an adiabatically induced pressure increase during a filling process. The blow-off capacity of the associated safety valves is therefore determined in such a way that the maximum possible inflow can be discharged without the concession pressure of the protected property being exceeded by more than 10%. It follows that such safety devices do not prevent bottle overfilling.
The invention is based on the object of creating a pressure-limiting and regulating valve that can be used as a safety device for gases under high pressure, the construction of which reliably prevents undesired overfilling of gas bottles in filling systems. The function should take place automatically without manual intervention. Likewise, no external energy such as control air, oil or electricity should be used for the function.
The pressure-limiting and regulating valve according to the invention, which has an axially displaceable, two-part valve piston which is arranged in a valve housing between an inlet and an outlet opening, is characterized in that the valve body has a part that acts as a piston, which in the closed position has a part between a The inlet and outlet opening is sealed and pushed into the open position by means of spring pressure, whereby a control function via a control piston built into the rear part of the piston and pressed into the closed position by means of adjustable spring pressure is effective through a throttle passage and a shock absorber.
The control function is based on the fact that the control piston in its closed position is loaded on the opening side by the adjustable spring and the medium pressure acting in the opening direction after the throttle passage, so that the control piston is lifted from the control nozzle after a predetermined pressure value is exceeded and the medium pressure passes through a connecting bore into an annular chamber arranged around the piston rear part, provided with a pressure relief regulating screw, and presses the axially displaceable piston in the closed position onto the valve seat arranged between the inlet and outlet openings.
This process remains constant as long as the medium pressure prevailing on the discharge side is higher than the spring pressure acting on the control piston. If the pressure on the discharge side, for which the spring of the control piston is adjusted, is not reached, the axially displaceable control piston is pressed onto the control nozzle by the spring pressure and further medium supply into the annular chamber is prevented. The medium pressure acting in the ring chamber on the piston rear part is released via the pressure relief regulating screw. The valve piston opens the valve seat between the inlet and outlet openings by means of spring pressure. When the pressure on the discharge side rises again above the predetermined pressure value, the control function effective in the control piston system is repeated.
Further details emerge from the following description of an embodiment with reference to the drawing.
The pressure-limiting and regulating valve shown has a valve housing 1 with two threaded blind holes 2 for attachment to a bracket, not shown.
In the valve housing 1 there are nvei bores 3 and 4 for the supply and discharge of the gas to be sealed, as well as a valve chamber 5 which connects the two bores 3 and 4 and accommodates the parts necessary to terminate the supplied gases. For this purpose, an axially displaceable, two-part valve piston 6 and 7 is attached over the upper opening of the bore 3, the lower piston half 6 against the valve chamber 5 by means of two O-rings 8, and the housing 1 through a piston guide provided with O-ring 9 and guided over the piston neck 10 is sealed. The lower valve piston half 6 has a flat sealing ring 12 which is mounted in a seat by a seal retaining screw 11 and which prevents the free flow of gas through the bores 3 and 4 in the closed position on the valve seat 13.
In the position shown, the valve is closed.
The lower piston half 6 has the shape of a punch, the largest diameter of which is hexagonal and fits into the valve chamber 5 with a certain amount of clearance and is screwed to the upper, stepped piston half 7 on the piston neck by means of a thread 14. In the hexagonal part of the lower piston half 6 there is a bore 15 arranged at right angles to the longitudinal axis on the flat side of the hexagon, which allows a connection to the upper piston half 7 via a sintered filter 18 sealed against a throttle passage 16 by means of a seal 17. The piston halves 6 and 7 connected by means of thread 14 are sealed on the inside by means of a soft seal 19 against the spring chamber 22.
Between the two piston halves 6 and 7, a helical spring 20 is attached which, as a return spring for the two-part valve piston 6 and 7, presses on a guide plate 21 and strives to keep the two-part valve piston 6 and 7 in the open position.
To prevent an undesired increase in pressure in the event of a leak in the spring chamber 22, two 450 inclined holes 23 are drilled in the valve housing 1. The upper, step-shaped piston half 7 is against the cylinder-shaped valve housing 1 in the upper part in the first stage by means
O-ring 24 and back-up ring 25 are sealed directly against the valve housing 1. The second stage seals against one in the by means of an O-ring 26 and a back-up ring 27
The cylinder liner 28 is screwed onto the upper part of the valve housing 1 and additionally against the valve housing 1 with an O-ring 29 attached between the valve housing 1 and the cylinder liner 28.
The connection leading via the lower piston half 6 and the throttle passage 16 into the upper piston half 7 leads through a control nozzle 30 to a control piston 32 which is axially displaceable in a cylindrical bore 31 of the upper piston half 7 and which is of the type required to terminate and convey the supplied gases having.
For this purpose, a sealing paste 33 mounted in a seat is attached in the control piston lower part, which in the closed position on the control nozzle 30 prevents the free flow of gas through a plurality of bores 34 provided around the sealing paste 33 of the control piston 32. The closing pressure of the control piston 32 is determined by a regulating bolt 35 and a helical spring 36 that can be subjected to variable loads. The cylindrical bore 31 is sealed from the outside with an O-ring 38 mounted in the screw connection 37.
A horizontal through bore 39 connects the cylindrical bore 31 with an annular chamber 40 arranged around the upper half of the piston.A pressure relief regulating screw 41 is used to vent the annular chamber 40 into the piston chamber 43 via a bore 42 at right angles to the horizontal through bore 39 and the relief bore 44 to the outside.
The shock absorber piston 45 screwed to the axially displaceable piston halves 6 and 7 effects the necessary sluggish regulating function of the two-part valve piston 6 and 7.
The embodiment shown shows a possible variant of an adjustable shock absorber based on distilled water.
The valve construction explained works in the following way:
In the unpressurized state, or before reaching the predetermined closing pressure, the axially displaceable, two-part valve piston 6 and 7 is pushed into the open position by the helical spring 20 mounted between the two piston halves 6 and 7, so that the two bores 3 and 4 allow a free gas flow are opened via the valve seat 13. About the perpendicular to the longitudinal axis in the hexagonal part of the lower piston half 6 attached hole 15 passes the pressure in the bores 3 and 4 and in the valve chamber 5 via the sintered filter 18 and the throttle passage 16 to the control piston 32 closed control nozzle 30. About the regulating pin 35 becomes the control piston
32 loaded with the coil spring 36 with a certain constan th pressure on the control nozzle 30.
If the in the
Control nozzle pressure prevailing in the closing direction over the control piston 32 spring pressure of the screw benfeder 36, this passes through the holes 34 in the control piston 32 is made in the cylindrical bore 31 and is guided through the through hole 39 to the annular chamber 40 arranged around the piston at the rear .
The increase in pressure in the annular chamber 40 has the effect that the two-part valve piston 6 and 7 after overcoming the
Closing movement counteracting spring force of the screw benfeder 20, is pressed axially against the valve seat 13 and closes the bores 3 and 4 for the gas flow. If the prevailing in the bore 4, discharge side pressure is below, for which the helical spring 36 of the control piston
32 is preloaded, the axially displaceable control piston 32 is pressed onto the control nozzle 30 by spring pressure and a further supply of medium into the annular chamber 40 is prevented.
The control function is based on the fact that the piston located in the annular chamber is on the stepped rear piston part
7 acting pressure via the pressure relief regulating screw
41 can relax. The valve piston 6 and 7 is through the
Spring pressure of the helical spring 20 is pushed axially backwards in the opening direction and opens the valve seat 13.
So that a practice-oriented, sluggish control function arises, the axial movement of the two-part valve piston 6 and 7 is damped by an adjustable shock absorber piston 45 mounted in the valve upper part. The regulating function is also influenced by the adjustable cross section of the pressure relief regulating screw 41.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment shown in the drawing, and numerous changes are conceivable. For example, other seal variants can be used instead of the selected round seals.
By installing a pressure limiting and regulating valve in the feed line of gas cylinder filling systems, inadmissible overfilling of gas cylinders can be prevented automatically by ensuring that the safety device functions at different pressures on the discharge side.
