**WARNUNG** Ende DESC Feld konnte Anfang CLMS uberlappen**.
The invention relates to an alloy bricket as an additive for iron melts in melting furnaces, preferably in cupolas.
Such alloy bricks, known per se, have the advantage that alloy constituents such as Si, Mn, P, Cr and other constituents can be introduced into the melt with considerably fewer burn-off losses and therefore with full utilization of the alloy elements than with the aid of other processes, because the reactions Move between the briquette and charge from the melting zone into the furnace sump.
Furthermore, thanks to the briquettes, an increased use of cast iron and steel scrap is possible, due to the increased deoxidation of iron in the furnace. The formulation is precise, since the same alloy content is present in every briquette and it is therefore not necessary to weigh ferroalloys.
The analytical values of the molten iron are more uniform.
The known alloy briquettes, however, have a more or less spherical or cylindrical shape. This has the disadvantage that they can move unintentionally in batching systems on the conveying means such as channels, belts, etc., so that precise metering is made impossible.
The aim of the invention is to eliminate these disadvantages and to bring the above-mentioned known advantages of the briquettes to full effect, in particular in batching systems that work manually, semi-automatically or fully automatically.
The alloy briquette according to the invention is characterized in that it has at least one diamond-shaped surface. Thanks to this feature, the briquette behaves self-locking on the conveyor, but still glides well.
The diamond shape also counteracts jamming or wedging of the briquettes in silos, bunkers and channels.
If, in a special embodiment of the briquette according to the invention, at least two surfaces are parallel to one another, then alloy briquettes can be stacked on pallets, which is not the case with spherical or cylindrical shapes.
The drawing shows in a single figure an example embodiment of the briquette according to the invention.
The briquette has a diamond-shaped longitudinal section over its entire height, i.e. two parallel diamond-shaped surfaces to enable stacking, namely an upper surface 1 and a lower surface 2. In another embodiment, a diamond-shaped surface could also be provided in only one plane, for example the Area 1. The boundaries lying in the longitudinal axis L are areas 4 and 5, so the corners are cut off there. However, as indicated by dash-dotted lines in the drawing, these boundaries could also be sharp corners. The surfaces 4 and 5 are to be preferred to the sharp-edged corners in many cases, as pointed corners can break off under certain circumstances, which is equivalent to undesirable abrasion.
All corners 6 and boundary lines 7 of the briquette are not rounded, but sharp-edged, which is important for the goal to be achieved
In order to give the briquette a very high abrasion resistance at the corners 6, the boundary lines 7 and the surfaces, a binding agent, e.g. Add cement or another binding agent that serves to consolidate.
