Abstract

Homogenous fine pore, synthetic resin, (alcohol) based, foams are prepd. by (i) converting the resin foamed by a foaming agent and compressed gas from a coarse to a fine pore foam in a foam chamber filled with beads of differing sizes, then (ii) mixing it with a catalyst in a mixing chamber downstream and separate by a circulation pipe, and (iii) supplying additives to the finished, non-hardened, carrier foam. Foaming and mixing process of all the solid and liquid matls. is thus controlled solely by pressure, while gas or air is used as the pressurised conveying and mixing medium and the flow of foam in the mixing chamber is not disturbed by built-in components. Under optimum conditions, the finished foam product is thus homogenous with a uniform fine pore cellular structure, with a fixed compsn. minimum shrinkage, good heat insulating and sound absorption properties, and high mech. strength in accordance with its density.
