EMI8.1
worin Hal mittleres Halogen, d.h.

Rezeptur: 100 Teile Sulfitzellstoff gebleicht 400SR
0,04 Teile des Aufhellers (g
2 Teile Harzleim
3 Teile Alaun

The polyether amines to be used can e.g. be obtained by reacting aliphatic polyamines containing at least one primary or two secondary amino groups and optionally hydroxyl groups, the molecular weight of which is at most 200, in excess with polyepihalohydrins containing 3-25 halomethyl groups, removing the excess polyamine from the reaction mixture by distillation and so The resulting polyetheramine is reacted in aqueous solution with crosslinking agents to such an extent that the viscosity increases and the reaction mixture remains water-soluble, whereupon the free amino groups are, if appropriate, partially or completely converted into their salts by adding acid.
Suitable polyamines for this process are, for example: 1,2-diaminoethane, 1,2-diaminopropane, 1,2-diaminobutane, 13-diaminopropane, 1,4-diaminobutane, 1,6-diaminohexane, N- (2 / -Hydroxyethyl) -1, 2-diaminoethane, 1,3-diamino-2-propanol, 3-dimethylamino-propylamine, piperazine, N- (2-aminoethyl) piperazine, diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, tetraethylenepentamine, N, N-bis (3-aminopropyl) amine, N, N-bis (2t-aminoethyl) -1,4-diaminobutane and tri- (3-aminopropyl) amine.
These aliphatic polyamines consist of amino groups, optionally substituted by alkyl or hydroxyalkyl radicals, linked to one another via alkylene radicals, the number of substituents on the N atoms being kept so low that the polyamine contains at least 1 primary or 2 secondary amino groups. The lowest molecular weight polyamine, corresponding to this definition, is 1,2-diamino ethane. The molecular weight of the polyamines in question should not be higher than about 200 so that the excess, unreacted amine can be removed from the reaction mass by distillation at temperatures, at which the reaction product is still stable.
The polyepihalohydrins which are used as starting materials in the present process are known compounds or they can be prepared by generally known analogy processes. They contain polyether chains as their main component, which can be characterized by the following general formula:

where Hal is medium halogen, i. Chlorine or bromine, and p is a number from 3-25.
During the production of the polyepihalohydrins, mixtures of products with different degrees of polymerization arise, i.e. For the purposes of the present invention, p or the molecular weight defined by p are average numbers or average molecular weights. Because of the end groups which are linked to the beginning and the end of the polymer chain of the above formula (IV), the polyepihalohydrins can be divided into the following groups for the purposes of this invention:
: (I) If water, alcohols with 1-6 carbon atoms and 1-6 hydroxyl groups or the ether alcohols formed from these alcohols by the addition of ethylene oxide are used as starters for the polymerization of the epihalohydrin, polyepihalohydrins of the formula are obtained

in which R6 can be hydrogen if s is the number 1 and R6 is also an alkyl radical or a mono- to pentahydroxyalkyl radical with a maximum of 6 carbon atoms, Hal chlorine or bromine, t an integer from 1 to 6 s an integer from 1 to 20 and p is an integer from 3 to 25, the sum of the OH groups contained in R6 being at most 6-t and the product of the multiplication pt being at least 3 and at most 25.
(2) A second group of polyepihalohydrins is obtained if individual or all of the halohydrin groups in the above formula (V) are converted into the corresponding epoxy groups.
(3) A third group relates to epihalohydrin polymers formed by acid catalysis without a starter, in which the constitution of the end groups is not precisely known.
(4) Another group relates to polymers made from epihalohydrins which are obtained using catalysts other than acid catalysts, provided that they are not too high in molecular weight (p in formula (IV) at most 25). Such catalysts are described in U.S. Patent 3,058,923.
The polyepihalohydrins mentioned in the above four groups can be obtained by known methods; relevant literature references are, for example:

mean.
The reaction products of the polyamines and the polyepihalohydrins are treated with the crosslinkers in such a way that crosslinking of the molecule and, at the same time, alkylation or quaternization of at least one of the basic nitrogen atoms takes place. The reaction is only continued as long as the resulting product is still readily soluble in water.

The lightening preparations according to the invention are expediently in an aqueous medium, optionally with the use of water-soluble solvents such as lower alcohols, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, n-propanol, ether, e.g. Dioxane, 1,2-dimethoxy or 1,2-diethoxyethane, ether alcohols, e.g. 2-methoxy-, 2-thoxy- or 2-butoxyethanol, 2- (2t-methoxyethoxy) -, 2- (2i-ethoxyethoxy) - or 2 (2 -butoxyethoxy) ethanol, ketones, e.g. Acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, amides, e.g. Formamide, dimethylformamide or acetamide and hexamethylphosphoric acid triamide.
Preferably the anionic optical brightener is dissolved in water, e.g. in 5 to 30 times the amount, with heating on, e.g. at temperatures from 50O to 100 and pour this solution into the aqueous, e.g. 10 to 50% solution of the polyetheramine, e.g. at temperatures from 50O to 100ob. Solutions, gels or suspensions are obtained depending on the concentration of the anionic brightener and the polyether amine and their relative proportions. Solutions are preferred for practical use. The solutions can be converted into gels, suspensions, semi-solid or solid products by evaporation.
The lightening preparations according to the invention serve to lighten many substrates, e.g. of the mineral pigments used as fillers in the paper industry.
Such mineral pigments are e.g. finely divided silicates such as kaolin (china clay), talc, diatomite (silica or infusor earth), feather white, soapstone, asbestine, calcium silicate, which is obtained in a particularly active form when a cold, concentrated calcium chloride solution is mixed with a cold, concentrated sodium silicate solution, glass powder, Quartz sand, asbestos, finely divided sulfates such as gypsum, annalin, lenzine, satin white, barite, blanc fixe, finely divided carbonates such as calcium carbonate (e.g. chalk), magnesite, patent white (witherite), white lead, dolomite, zinc spar, finely divided oxides or Hydroxides such as titanium dioxide, aluminum oxide or aluminum hydroxide, barite, calcium hydroxide, burnt magnesia, zinc white, finely divided sulfides such as lithopones or zinc sulfide, finely divided calcium sulfite. The mineral pigments lightened in this way are non-bleeding.
The lightening preparations can also be used to lighten bleached or unbleached wood pulp, soda cellulose, sulfate cellulose, bleached or unbleached cellulose or cellulose of other origins.
The aqueous suspension of the substrate is mixed with a cold to lukewarm (e.g. a temperature of 10 ° to 40 ° C.), aqueous solution of a lightening preparation according to the invention. This solution contains e.g. 1 to 5% of the anionic optical brightener and 5 to 25% of the polyetheramine in an amount ratio of brightener to polyetheramine of, for example, 1 to 3 to 1 to 11. With respect to the dry substrate, the amount of anionic optical brightener is advantageously 0.001 up to 1%, advantageously 0.01 to 0.5%, and in particular 0.05 to 0.4%.
The substrates brightened according to the invention can be used for a wide variety of purposes, e.g. to prevent the two-sidedness of papers during their production.
Two-sided paper is to be understood as the difference in shade or brightness between the two sides of the paper. Such differences can occur when the original distribution of the ingredients in the paper pulp changes in the sense that on one side of the resulting paper, components accumulate which are more or less light or colored than the remaining components. Such changes in distribution are possible on the wet end or the paper machine where the water is removed from the paper pulp, especially in high-speed paper machines.
When the paper pulp is sucked off by the register rollers, the suction box and the suction roller, differences in the content of these different constituents between the upper and lower side of the resulting paper arise due to the strong liquid flow and the differences in the specific weight of the various constituents of the paper pulp . So it happens that e.g. the upper side, also called the felt side, contains more fillers than the lower side (sieve side), from which the heavier components are washed out. These differences are all the more visible in the finished paper as the color difference between the paper fiber and the filler is large.
This color difference is large when an optical brightener is added to the paper pulp, which is absorbed onto the paper fiber but not onto the filler.
Furthermore, unevenness can arise in the paper if the paper pulp contains fibers which have different absorption and binding capacities to the brightener that is added to the paper pulp.
Even if the brighteners that are commonly used are also absorbed onto fiber and filler, there is usually always a considerable difference in the white and color level of the fiber and filler material.
Since the need for brightener to brighten kaolins, for example, is much higher than for bleached fiber material, it is desirable, if the filler (kaolin) distribution is uneven, to lighten the fiber material more in places where there is more kaolin in order to reduce the loss of brightness in these areas Places, mainly on the tops of the papers produced. When using the lightening preparation according to the invention, this is achieved in that the filler, preferably kaolin, is lightened separately with this lightening preparation and this filler is used as a fluorescent body carrier.
The lightening preparation according to the invention is intended to partially migrate over to the nearest fiber material during the drying of the paper, and thus more optical brighteners are available for cellulose fibers at places with a high filler content, which compensates for the bilateral nature.
If fibers or fibers are used to make the paper
Fillers which have been separately pretreated with the lightening preparation according to the invention, the two-sidedness and also the unevenness can largely be avoided.
Other possible uses for optically brightened substrates arise, except in paper production, wherever it is desired to use the optical brightener in a partially bound state on the substrate, either to prevent the brightener from being prematurely absorbed elsewhere, or to maximize, superficial, to create optical effects, such as when printing or coating flat structures.
In the following examples, the parts are parts by weight and the percentages are percentages by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
example 1
1000 parts of a 10% kaolin slurry are lightened at 2025o with 6 parts of the solution of the whitening preparation 0 described below, so that they are blood-proof. This lightened kaolin is used to produce test sheets on the SANDOZ pulsator Textil-Rundschau 17 647-649 (1962), so that the fiber material and the lightened kaolin have approximately the same degree of whiteness.
Recipe: 100 parts bleached sulphite pulp 400SR
0.04 part of the creamer (g
2 parts of resin glue
3 parts of alum
400 parts of the above kaolin suspension = 40
Parts of the lightened kaolin pH about 4.5.
When using the lightened kaolin according to the invention, the sheets produced on the SANDOZ pulsator produce a much smaller difference in whiteness between the screen and the top (measurement of the remission at 460 nm with R 46 filter and fluorescence excitation with the Zeiss Elrepho) than the control sheet with untreated kaolin.
To produce the lightening preparation O used here, you can proceed as follows:
25 parts of an intimate mixture of 16.65 parts of lightening agent and 8.35 parts of sodium chloride are dissolved in 140 parts of 8085o water with stirring. This solution is stirred into 335 parts of the 20% polyetheramine solution (I), which is kept at 8085 ° and prepared according to the instructions below. After thorough mixing, a solution is obtained which contains 3.33% of the brightener and 13.4% of the polyether amine.
The 20% polyetheramine solution (I) used here is prepared as follows:
92.5 parts (1 gram equivalent) of polyepichlorohydrin (average molecular weight 1530) are dissolved in 240.0 parts (4 moles) of ethylenediamine at room temperature. The solution is heated to 1000 while stirring in a stream of nitrogen. An exothermic reaction takes place at this temperature; the temperature is not allowed to exceed 140o by cooling. When the reaction is no longer exothermic, stirring is continued at 100 for 2 hours.
After the reaction mixture has cooled to about 30 °, 133.3 parts (1 mol) of 30% strength sodium hydroxide solution are added. Then water and excess ethylenediamine are distilled off in vacuo. After heating to 110 to 120 ° at 10-20 Torr with stirring to constant weight, 162.8 parts of residue are obtained, which consists of 58.5 parts of finely crystalline sodium chloride and 104.3 parts of liquid polyetheramine.
10 parts of a 30% strength aqueous solution of the crosslinking agent described below are added to 94 parts of the above residue, dissolved in 106 parts of water, the low-viscosity mixture is left to react for 18 hours at 65 ° and 100 parts of water are added. A solution is obtained which contains 20% active ingredient and can easily be diluted with water to form a homogeneous solution.
The crosslinker solution is produced in the following way:
205.5 parts of ice are mixed with 112.5 parts of 40% strength dimethylamine solution (1 mol) in a stirred tank made of stainless steel and 100 parts of 36.5% strength hydrochloric acid (1 mol) are added so that the internal temperature remains below 25. A solution of dimethylammonium chloride of pH 4-7 is obtained. A further 1125 parts of 40% strength dimethylamine solution (1 mol) are added and 277.5 parts of epichlorohydrin are allowed to run in so slowly that the internal temperature can be kept at 28,320 by external cooling. It is left to react for a few hours at this temperature and a clear solution is obtained, which 505tc crosslinker of the formula
