Abstract
Cyclic imines of formula (CH2)n N-R, (in which R is H or alkyl and n >6), opt. in presence of mono- or polyvalent amines or ammonia, are polymerised using as catalysts salts of amines or ammonia with strong acids, quat, ammonium (e.g. immonium) salts of strong acids, adducts of amines on Lewis acids, or substances forming such cpds., opt. with simultaneous partial splitting off of ammonia or amines (esp. monovalent amines). The polyimines obtained are viscous oils to hard waxes, used in anti-statics, to improve dyeability, of fibres and plastics, as hardeners for epoxy resins and polyurethanes, as raw materials for prepn. of printing inks, adhesives and ion exchangers.
