The main patent relates to a method for the production of an electric discharge tube or incandescent lamp, in which a vessel is assumed in which a closed container is arranged which contains a quantity of at least one substance to be introduced into the vessel.
The main patent also relates to an arrangement for implementing this method, with a vessel and a closed container which contains a certain amount of at least one substance and is provided with an electrical heating element, which is characterized in that the - vessel has an electrical Contains conductor to which the heating element is connected to form a closed turn. The invention relates to an improvement in the aforementioned arrangement.
According to a particular embodiment of the arrangement according to the main patent, the container consists of an essentially cylindrical capsule and a wire-shaped heating element is present which forms part of a secondary coil arranged in the vessel and consisting of a single closed turn which can be generated by induction with the help of a primary coil arranged outside the vessel. The non-wire-shaped part of the secondary coil is band-shaped in this preferred embodiment.
The heating element is connected to the strip in an electrically conductive manner in such a way that the aforementioned closed turn is created. The Behäl ter of the substance or substances to be introduced is in thermally conductive contact with the wire-shaped heating element, so that when a current is excited in the coil, which makes the wire-shaped heating element warm, it can cut through the capsule wall, causing the substance or the substance to be introduced Substances in the discharge vessel are released. In order to hold the capsule in place, according to a preferred embodiment of the arrangement according to the main patent, strips engaging around the capsule are pressed out of the band.
If the heating element cuts through the wall of the capsule, which is usually made of glass, there is a risk that the capsule will break apart in two halves and that these halves will detach from the tongues and get into the discharge vessel. This is a disadvantage since such loose parts can damage, for example, the cathodes or a luminescent layer which, as is well known, is mostly present in low-pressure mercury vapor discharge lamps. In order to avoid this disadvantage, according to one embodiment of the arrangement according to the main patent, a thin wire was melted into the capsule in such a way that it crosses the heating element.
If the capsule breaks, the two halves remain connected by this additional wire and cannot get into the discharge vessel. The use of such a wire but adhere to the following after parts. First, the introduction of such a thin wire into the tube from which the capsule is to be formed is difficult and requires a complicated and difficult to control apparatus on a machine with which the capsules are manufactured in large numbers and at great speed. The inside diameter of the capsule is in fact small in most cases and is often between 0.5 and 4 mm. A second disadvantage is that it becomes more difficult to melt the capsule, which increases the risk of leaking capsules.
In addition, the glass head is given a less defined shape at the fused ends, which makes it difficult to assemble the caps on the band-shaped part of the secondary coil. Another disadvantage is that in some cases the additional wire in the capsule, which mostly consists of copper sheathed wire, can be melted through by the glowing heating element which mostly consists of molybdenum wire. Then the capsule halves can still loosen.
The inventive arrangement does not have these disadvantages and it is characterized in that the heating element is wire-shaped and forms part of a secondary coil arranged in the vessel and consisting of a single closed winding, in which by induction with the help of an outside of the Gefässes angeordne th primary coil, a current can be excited, the Behäl ter a practically cylindrical capsule and the part of the secondary coil not consisting of the heating wire is formed bandför mig and contains at least two tongues that engage in narrowed areas of the capsule.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to a few in the drawing dar posed.Automotive examples. 1 shows a schematic representation of part of the arrangement according to the main patent, FIG. 2 shows part of a first embodiment of the arrangement according to the invention, and FIG. 3 shows part of a second embodiment of the arrangement according to the invention.
In Fig. 1, a secondary coil is mounted on a pinch 1, which consists of a band-shaped part 2 and a heating wire 3. The band 2 is fastened in the pinch seal 1 with the aid of a support pole 4. A cathode is denoted by 5 in a schematic manner. Two tongues 6 and 7 are pressed out of the band 2 so that they can grasp a capsule 8 in which there is an amount of mercury 11 to be introduced into the discharge vessel. This capsule is pushed under the tongues 6 and 7 during manufacture.
The heating wire 3 then rests against the wall of the capsule 8. To open the capsule, an induction current of such a magnitude is excited in the coil consisting of the heating wire 3 and the strip 2 that the wire 3 is made to glow. This wire 3 then cuts the caps sel 8. If the capsule is completely cut through or if it breaks into two parts, the lower and the upper half of the capsule can, if necessary, detach from the tongues 6 and 7 and get into the discharge vessel.
This disadvantage is avoided in the embodiment of the arrangement according to FIG. 2 according to the invention. In this figure, items corresponding to FIG. 1 are diesel ben reference numerals used. The capsule 8 is provided with narrowed areas 9 and 10 at the location of the tongues 6 and 7, respectively. It is evident that the two halves of the capsule cannot come loose from the tongues 6 and 7 even if the heating wire 3 cuts through the capsule.
In Fig. 3, another embodiment of the Anord voltage is shown according to the invention. Also in this figure, the same reference numbers are used for corresponding parts of the construction as in FIGS. The difference to the construction according to Fig. 2 is that the tongues 6,7 are formed from the edge parts at one end of the bandför shaped part 2 of the secondary coil. With regard to the construction according to FIG. 2, the advantage is hereby that both the production of the tongues 6 and 7 and the assembly of the capsule on the band 2 is simplified. The tongues 6 and 7 can now namely be bent around the narrow areas 9 and 10 of the capsule 8 th.
This is easier to achieve than pushing in the capsule, which would be required in a construction according to FIG. In the construction according to FIG. 2, the tongues sometimes still have to be pressed after the capsule 8 has been placed on the band 2. It is not necessary for the tongues 6 and 7 to be formed from the side edges of the band 2. They can also be formed from the middle part of the relevant end of the band 2.
The constricted areas of the capsule may be in the form of a groove, as shown in Figures 2 and 3; however, this is not absolutely necessary. Constrictions of different shapes can also achieve the purpose of the invention, namely to prevent parts of the capsule from becoming detached from the tape and entering the discharge vessel.
