Abstract

Effective surface area for heat flow into the liquid is increased by forming ribs on liquid side of hot wall and ribs are pref. basically triangular in cross section with contiguous bases and with height, b, and width of base, 2a related by 2a=2p (b/k). (q/phi), where q is critical heat flux under operating conditions, corresp. to critical b.pt. of liquid on Nukiyama curve, phi is specific max heat flux under stable regime for unit area of plane will, p is efficiency factor of 0.8-1.6 and k is safety factor of 1-2.
