Abstract

Unsaturated ketones, which can be used in perfumery and production of aroma cpds. are of formula: (which contains one double bond situated in either of the positions indicated by broken lines) are produced by condensing a cpd. of the formula: Me-CH=CH-CH3 (in which Me is e.g. an alkali metal or represents a divalent metal, such as Hg, Zn, Cd or Mg-linked with e.g. Cl, Br or I) with a derivative of cyclogenaryl having the formula (in which R represents a reactive gp. such as a halogen the corresponding acid radical, an alkoxy or aryloxy gp. O-COR', where R' is a simple hydrocarbyl, or OMe, where Me is a metal).
