la fig. 1 est une vue en élévation de la première forme d'exécution reliée à un disque flexible d'accouplement élastique;
Split-hub coupling member
It has been proposed in Swiss patent No. 485135 to produce, by shaping a blank, a sheet metal coupling member comprising a split hub intended to be fixed to a shaft or other torque transmitting member, by tightening a nut and a screw passing through two ears which result from the bending of the ends of the starting uflan on themselves.
Such a coupling member can be not only a jaw for a universal joint, but also, for example, an elastic coupling member, a connecting piece forming a lever, etc. To this end, the member preferably comprises one or more appendages which constitute, as the case may be, jaw branches, fixing lugs on an elastic coupling disc, a lever arm for transmitting a movement. oscillating, etc.
The invention proposes to take direct advantage of the use of a sheet, as raw material for the coupling member, to ensure, under particularly economical conditions, the fixing of the coupling member on the torque transmitter unit. To this end, the coupling member is characterized in that the internal surface of the hub has at least one surface, the center of curvature of which is offset with respect to the center of the hub by an amount such that this surface is applied. on a surface of the same shape of the torque transmitting member under the effect of tightening by screw and nut, creates a torsional connection of the two members to be coupled.
Two embodiments of the object of the invention will be described, by way of example, with reference to the appended drawing, to which:
fig. 1 is an elevational view of the first embodiment connected to a flexible elastic coupling disc;
fig. 2 is a sectional view of the coupling member of FIG. 1
fig. 3 is an elevational view of the second embodiment comprising a lever.
In fig. 1, a coupling member symmetrical with respect to a plane XX comprises a split hub 1 with which two flat tabs 2 are integral, arranged perpendicularly to the plane XX and which are intended to be assembled, by means of fastening elements passing through holes 2a, with a flexible elastic coupling disc.
The split hub 1 is obtained by folding and rolling a sheet metal blank of thickness e. It comprises on either side of a rolled part 3 two folded flat parts 4, parallel to one another and adjacent to the legs 2, and which end in edges folded back on themselves 6, of which the slice 6a has a circular shape and which constitute two ears 7 separated by a slot 8 and crossed by holes in coincidence 9. The tightening of a nut 10 on a bolt 11 passing through the holes 9 allows the fixing of the organ of coupling on the part of a shaft having a contour complementary to the internal profile of the opening of the hub shown, which has the shape of a polygon, the sides of which are alternately planar and curvilinear.
The hub 1 of the coupling member of FIG. 3 is integral with an arm 12, of planar shape, which extends in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the hub in the direction opposite to the slot 8 of the hub. This arm forms a lever and its end opposite the hub 1 has for this purpose a hole 12a for the passage of a hinge pin. The hub 1, intended to be fixed for example to a motor vehicle steering bar, comprises on either side of a flat part 13, adjacent to the arm 12, two parts 14 obtained by folding and rolling and which have a circular shape. The folded edges 6 of the ears 7 end in a flat face 16a parallel to the internal face 13a of the flat part 13.
The faces 16a and 13a are intended to be applied on the corresponding flat faces of the shaft or mounting rod to ensure, by tightening a bolt introduced into the openings 9, the rotation fixing of the coupling member. on the assembly shaft.
The internal circular surfaces 3a, 6a (fig. 2) and 14a (fig. 3) have their center on the axis 0 of the hub, but it would be possible for example to produce a circular surface 3a whose center would be offset at 0 '. , which would strengthen the torsional connection of the coupling member and the torque transmitting member.
The quality of the fastening on the torque transmitting member is normally ensured by the efficiency of the tightening by screw and nut. However, taking into account a certain imprecision in the forming by bending or rolling of the planar contact faces with the shaft, it is possible to envisage a finishing operation which, applying to an internal profile very close to the desired final profile due to the previous forming operation, includes minimal chip removal while maintaining a maximum metal section.
