Description
Fig. 1 zeigt den Lichtbogenabbrand eines erfindungsgemässen Wolfram-Kupfer- Nickel - Durchdringungsverbundmetalls.
Process for the production of an interpenetrating composite metal
The erosion-resistant contact pieces in high-voltage circuit breakers exposed to the arc often consist of a penetration composite metal made of tungsten and copper. As is known, a penetration composite metal consists of a framework of the high-melting metal (tungsten) which is impregnated with a low-melting metal (copper). The molded parts are produced by pressing tungsten powder or a powder mixture of tungsten-copper or tungsten-copper-nickel, sintering this framework and soaking the solidified sintering framework with copper. The density of such composite metals, which are produced by pressing a framework molding made of tungsten and soaking the sintered framework molding with copper, is usually above 13 g / cm3.
Molded parts made from such penetration composite metal show, in particular in high-performance switches that are used in air, under oil or other extinguishing liquids, for example SFO switches, a significantly smaller arc burn-off than copper. Ways were sought to further reduce the arc burn-off.
Furthermore, the production of molded parts from the known penetration composite metal is expensive and the economy is significantly reduced by the considerable machining of the molded blanks. A penetration composite metal produced according to another variant from poured tungsten powder and by impregnating with copper does not yet show a sufficiently small burn-up. Such a composite metal has a density lower than 13 g / cmS, but the framework strength is too low and therefore a relatively high burn-up.
The subject matter of the invention is a method for the production of a penetration composite metal based on copper-impregnated tungsten-copper-nickel sintered bodies, in particular for high-voltage switches.
It is characterized in that a known tungsten-copper-nickel powder mixture with 1 to 10% by weight of copper and 0.01 to 1% by weight of nickel is knock-compacted in a mold, pre-sintered and, after removal from the mold, the The framework is completely sintered and then soaked with copper until the pores are completely filled.
Sintering with a liquid phase over the tungsten-tungsten bridges between the powder particles gives the framework a high heat resistance (measured at 800 - 1000 C). The advantage of the tungsten-copper sintered structure lies in the small amount of burn-off of a composite metal made from it, which is smaller than that of a composite metal of approximately the same composition, the structure of which is made from tungsten and copper. It has proven to be advantageous to use a sinter-active tungsten powder to which preferably 1-10% by weight of copper and 0.01-1% by weight of nickel are added for the production of the sintering structure.
Contacts made of penetration composite metal according to the invention are characterized, above all, because of the high heat resistance and the cavern-free impregnation, through less burn-off than the previously known penetration composite metals of this density range. This is likely to be based on the fact that the tungsten-copper-nickel penetration composite metal according to the invention has a burn-up minimum due to the favorable physical, chemical and electrical technological properties, especially under oil, at a density of about 12 g / cm3 (FIG. 1). Another important advantage is that finished molded parts with good external contours can be obtained without any post-treatment.
According to the method according to the invention, a tungsten-copper penetration composite metal with a nickel content in the sintering structure of 0.01-1% by weight after impregnating the sintering structure with copper with a small sintering shrinkage when sintering the structure and a small further shrinkage when soaking the sintering structure as Molded part are obtained, the density of which is between 11 and 13 g / cm3, with cutting measures being dispensed with entirely or being limited to a minimum, so that there is also a significant economic advantage over the previously known measures.
Another advantage is the good solderability and weldability of the penetration composite metal according to the invention with the usual contact piece carrier metals.
A pressed part made of an interpenetrating composite metal according to the invention can be manufactured in such a way that a starting powder 1 is e.g. is shaken or pressed into a ceramic mold 2. The dimensions of the mold are dimensioned so that the small sintering shrinkage, which can be up to 1%, is taken into account. The poured or pressed-in powder is sintered in the form of a temperature between 1200 and 15000C in hydrogen or vacuum. At the sintering temperatures above 1300ob, a pre-sintering at about 10000C and the final sintering after removing the framework from the mold preferably takes place first. The sintering time is measured in such a way that a maximum framework strength is achieved for the given degree of space filling.
After sintering or pre-sintering, the sintered frameworks fall out of the molds. The amount of copper required for impregnation and to completely fill the pores of the framework is placed on or under the framework as an electrolytic copper pressed part and heated in a graphite or ceramic mold to an impregnation temperature above the copper melting temperature for 5 - 15 minutes. The soaking temperature is expediently 1200-13500C. During the impregnation, there is still a slight shrinkage of the molded part framework of around 0.5%. After impregnation, the molded part is accurate to the drawing and the outer contour no longer needs to be machined.
1 shows the arc burn of a tungsten-copper-nickel penetration composite metal according to the invention. The burn-up in 10-G cm3 / As is plotted on the ordinate, and the density y in g / cm3 is plotted on the abscissa.
Fig. 2 shows the relationship between the composition and the density of tungsten-copper interpenetrating composite metal. The ordinate is the density in g / cm3 and the abscissa is the composition in% by volume or% by weight. The small nickel content of 0.01-1% by weight is not shown separately in FIG. 2 because of the small difference in density (nickel: y = 8.8 g / cm3, copper: y = 8.93 g / cm3). The degree of space occupied by the scaffolding is given as a parameter.
3-6 illustrate the production of a molded part according to the invention. In FIGS. 3 and 4, the starting powder is denoted by 1 and the ceramic mold by 2. In FIGS. 5 and 6, the rotated soldering phases 3 are shown, with which it is connected to the carrier metal by brazing.
