Working mold for the production of substances that harden by dehydration and a method for producing such a mold
The invention relates to a working mold for the manufacture of bodies from substances which harden by dehydration and a method for producing such a mold.
The ceramic industry works partly with liquid and partly kneadable porcelain or earthenware masses.
The liquid masses (Schliker) are poured into molds and left in them for a certain period of time, depending on the desired wall thickness. The task of the mold material is to remove water from the porcelain or ceramic mass. This creates a precipitate of water-poor mass along the contours of the shape. After a certain time, depending on the desired wall thickness, the excess mass is removed again by overturning the mold. After the mold has gone through a certain drying process, the ceramic part can be removed from the mold and processed further.
The kneadable masses (turning masses) are processed in turning molds. The mass is pressed into a rotating mold. The exact wall thickness is achieved with the help of templates. Here, too, the mold material has the task of removing water from the mass during the drying process so that the ceramic part can be detached from the mold surface and removed from the mold.
In brick molds, the brick mass is deformed under pressure between an upper and a lower part.
The mold material has to absorb and release water in quick succession. Despite negative properties, such as low mechanical strength, sensitivity to scratching and brittle, fragile edges, gypsum has so far been the only material that has the properties required by the ceramics industry and the goat industry.
The aim of the invention is to create a working mold which has the good properties of a plaster mold, but which avoids its disadvantages. According to the invention, this is achieved in that the mold is formed from a particulate substance bound by means of hardened synthetic resin, the predominant part of which has a particle size of less than 160 tl, the proportion of these particulate substances being so high that the mold is absorbent.
According to the further invention, this novel working form is produced in such a way that a particulate substance, which consists predominantly of particles with a grain size smaller than 160 it, is mixed with a resin and hardener in such a ratio that a tampable mass is created, and that this mass is introduced into a mold, compacted there and cured before or after removal from the mold.
The proportion of the particulate substance in the tampable mass is about 90 to 98 percent by weight, depending on the type of resin and filler.
What is surprising in the subject matter of the invention is the fact that a cast resin body with such a high proportion of such fine particulate filler is actually absorbent. The fine filler gives the work form a smooth surface. This may also be the reason why ceramic or similar masses do not stick in this form after they have reached their dimensionally stable state.
Particularly suitable fillers are: aluminum oxide trihydrate (A120n, 3H90), calcite (CaCO3), quartz powder (SiO27, mica powder (Al.K. silicate), etc. These and other fillers can be used individually or in suitable mixtures.
The following resins can be used for the tampable mass: polymers or copolymers (type PVC, acrylates), polyamides (type Ultramid), polyesters (type Glyptole), phenoplasts (type phenol or
Resorcinol formaldehyde k. P.), aminoplasts (urea type or melamine-CH90-k. P.), silicones, unsaturated polyesters, polyurethanes, polyepoxides.
Particularly good results can be achieved with epoxy resins, especially those based on bisphenol A.
The working molds according to the invention have good water absorption capacity and are far superior to plaster molds in terms of strength. Due to the better mechanical properties, the new forms have a longer service life; they are also far less sensitive to heat than plaster molds.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.
1 to 4 show, in schematic sectional views, the most important phases in the production of a rotary mold for processing kneadable masses.
According to FIG. 1, a two-part mold 1a-1b is filled with non-sticky, dry filler-resin-hardening mixture 2, the mass previously introduced into the mold being compacted by means of a tamper 3 between each two additions. After the mold is full, the mass is leveled in the pulp opening. This last phase of the filling process can be seen in FIG. Then the mold is swiveled vertically by 1800. Now one part (core) lb of the mold is pulled off upwards. The latter process is shown in FIG. After removing the core lb, a plate is placed over the part la of the mold, after which the mold and plate are pivoted back again by 1800 in the vertical and the part la is peeled off.
The latter state is shown in FIG. 4, the plate being denoted by 4 and the body freed from the mold by K.
Finally, the body K is hardened.
example 1
Manufacture of a rotary mold (compare Fig. 1 to 4):
82 parts by weight of a resin consisting of a mixture of 20 parts by weight of dibutyl phthalate with 80 parts by weight of an epoxy resin based on diphenylolpropane with an epoxy content of about 5.2 equivalents / kg were mixed with 16.4 parts by weight of a condensation product of 73.6 parts by weight of triethylenetetramine and 26, 4 parts by weight of propylene oxide as hardener and mixed with 1200 parts by weight of aluminum oxide trihydrate with a specific weight of 2.42 g / cm3 and a bulk density of 1470 g / l (sieve analysis according to DIN: sieve DIN 60 1.08%, sieve DIN 100 37.72% , through sieve DIN 100 61.12%; loss 0.08 S) mixed intimately and lump-free.
The tampable mass of snow-like consistency produced in this way was tamped into a two-part mold, immediately removed from the mold and cured at room temperature for about 15 hours.
The body produced in this way has a water absorption capacity of about 16 percent by weight.
Example 2
Making a brick mold:
100 parts by weight of the same resin-hardener mixture as specified in Example 1 were intimately and lump-free mixed with 1200 parts by weight of the same aluminum oxide trihydrate as specified in Example 1 and 300 parts by weight of quartz powder with grain sizes from 0 to 100 u.
This tampable mass of snow-like consistency was placed in a mold, compacted and, after curing for 15 hours at room temperature, removed from the mold.
The body produced in this way has approximately the same water absorption capacity as the body produced according to Example 1, but the addition of quartz flour results in a greater surface hardness.
