Insekticide Vorrichtung
Polyacrylamid (Dicke 25 ,u) 8 mg/Std.
Sithylen- Vinylacetat- (Dicke 50,b) 8 mg/Std.
Insecticidal device
The invention relates to an insecticidal device with an active ingredient of the general formula
EMI1.1
in which R is alkyl and X is oxygen or sulfur and M is a group of the structures
EMI1.2
represents in which R 'is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, Z is a halogen atom, R "is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a halogen atom and R"' is an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl group, as well as with a carrier and optionally a dye and / or pigment, a lubricant, a binder, a filler, an antioxidant, a stabilizer, a perfume or an odor absorber, characterized in that these substances are in a shell through which the active ingredient can diffuse into the atmosphere.
The active ingredient in the device or preparation can be absorbed in a thermoplastic material as a carrier, the volatile, insecticidal, organic phosphorus compound preferably being in solid solution in the thermoplastic material.
By allowing the insecticide present in solid solution to evaporate through the surface of the thermoplastic molding to the outside, a concentration can be achieved in this area which is fatal for insects, but harmless to humans, pets or cattle. The well-known polyvinyl chloride tapes, which contain dimethyl 2,2-dichlorovinyl phosphate, work on this principle and last for about 3 months.
It has now been found that greater effectiveness can be achieved with the insecticidal preparation which is provided with an outer layer or casing made of a material through which the volatile insecticide can escape to the outside.
The amount of released insecticide now falls less rapidly over time, and because of the associated greatly reduced rate of emission, the agent is initially effective for more than three months, namely about 4 to 8 months, depending on the strength and structure or the structure of the outer layer or the shell.
The thermoplastic molded article can have any shape which is suitable for releasing a sufficient amount of insecticide into the environment, and it can thus be formed in the shape of a plate, rod, bar or ribbon. The molding can be achieved by injection molding, extrusion or other processes known in the plastics industry for the production of moldings.
Preferred insecticides are used
Dimethyl-2,2-dichlorovinyl phosphate, 1,2-dibromo-2,2-dichloroethyl-dimethylphosphate,
2-carbomethoxy-1-methyl vinyl dimethyl phosphate and
2- (1-phenylcarbethoxy) -1-methylvinyl dimethyl phosphate or its analogous diethyl compound. The preferred insecticides used have a vapor pressure of at least 10-3 mm Hg at 200 ° C., such as, for example, dimethyl 2,2-dichlorovinyl phosphate.
The amount of insecticidal organic phosphorus compound present in the thermoplastic material can vary widely. For example, preparations can be produced that contain 5 to 75% by weight of volatile insecticide, based on the total mixture. The amount of insecticide is in particular between 10 and 45% by weight. The preparations or devices can be produced by mixing the insecticide in the pulverulent, thermoplastic material and then processing the mixture, for example by extrusion or molding.
Thermoplastic materials suitable as carriers are, for example, polyethylene, polypropylene, copolymers of ethylene and propylene, nylon, cellophane, polyamides, polyester, polyacrylates, such as polymers and copolymers of methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and sithyl methacrylate, polymers of vinyl compounds such as polystyrene, polymerized divinylbenzene Polyvinyl halides such as polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetals such as polyvinyl butyral, polyvinylidene compounds such as polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl acetate, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, polyurethanes, polyaldehydes, cellulose derivatives or thermoplastic rubbers.
Preferred thermoplastics for moldings are polymers and copolymers of vinyl chloride. The outer layers or shells can be made of any material that is permeable to the insecticide, preferably of a thermoplastic material of the type described above as a carrier.
The preferred thermoplastic casing, which ensures regular release of insecticide into the surrounding air, can be 10 to 200, preferably 15 to 50, thick, and it consists in particular of nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. The outer layer or shell is arranged, for example, around the thermoplastic molding in the form of a preferably closed film or a shrink film or in the form of a laminate. The shell can therefore be separate from the insecticide-containing mass, as is the case with a film, or it can be attached to it, as with a laminate.
The thermoplastic insecticidal molding, which is provided with a film or a laminate, regularly releases the insecticide into the surrounding air at an approximately consistently low concentration. The table shows the amount of insecticide released per hour in mg. A commercially available strip made from 80 g of polyvinyl chloride and 20 g of dimethyl 2,2-dichlorovinyl phosphate was used as the insecticidal thermoplastic composition. A thermoplastic film or a sheet made of the following material was used as the shell or outer layer: Polystyrene (strength 25 at 7 mg / hour.
Cellophane (strength 30 u) 5 mg / hour
Polyethylene (strength 15, es) 4 mg / h.
Polyethylene (strength 25 at 2 mg / h.
Polyethylene (shrink film 15, b) 5.6 mg / hour.
Polyethylene (shrink film 25,) 2.5 mg / hour.
Polyethylene (thickness 40 u) 0.7 mg / hour
Nylon (thickness 25 at 9 mg / hr.
Polyacrylamide (thickness 25, u) 8 mg / h.
Sithylene vinyl acetate (thickness 50, b) 8 mg / hr.
Copolymer no film or laminate at mg / hr. up to <2 mg / hour
after 3 months.
The favorable emission speeds in a room with the dimensions 3 X 3 X 3 m are between 2 and 5 mg / hour. If the release of the insecticide can be better controlled, the strip will be effective for a longer period of time. A strip wrapped in polyethylene (25 u thickness) showed no trace of exhaustion even after 4 months.
The insecticide can also be in the form of a powder made from a thermoplastic polymer, in particular polyvinyl chloride, which contains the insecticide with a low vapor pressure, such as dimethyl 2,2-dichlorovinyl phosphate.
a) Dimethyl 2,2-dichlorovinyl phosphate was mixed with polyvinyl chloride powder in a weight ratio of 1: 3. The polyvinyl chloride powder, which was obtained by suspension polymerization, had a particle size distribution between 5 and 150 cm. The whole was mixed at 800 ° C. for 10 minutes, giving a dry, brittle product. If this mixture is exposed to the atmosphere in a vessel with a floor area of 150 cm2 into which 50 g of the mixture have been placed, a large amount (18 mg / h) is first released, but this subsides within a few weeks.
With the same mixture, which had been exposed to the atmosphere for the same period of time, but which was enclosed in a 50 µ thick film of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, a consistently low release was obtained over a long period of time (2 mg / hour, 8 Weeks constant).
b) The insecticide was mixed with the polyvinyl chloride powder in a weight ratio of 2: 1 at room temperature to form a doughy mass. Again, the same favorable result was obtained if this approach was included in the film mentioned above. The release was also at an amount of 2 mg / hour. constant over 8 weeks.
