Device for checking the tightness of a container
The invention relates to a device for testing the tightness of a container with respect to a medium, with a flow detector for the medium arranged in a first line between a medium source for generating a test pressure of the medium and a connection connectable to the container to be tested, one arranged above the flow detector Bypass line and at least one valve arranged in the bypass line.
With such a bypass line, which can be opened and closed by the valve, it is possible, when the valve is open, to hold a container connected to the connection with the medium, e.g. B.
Air to fill up to the test pressure, whereupon, with the valve closed, a medium flow from the medium source to the container can be determined in the case of a container leak in the flow detector.
According to the invention, the device is characterized in that the flow detector has at least one thermal flow sensor.
The flow detector can be provided with a measuring instrument by means of which the amount of the medium flowing through the detector can be measured so that the containers can be checked to determine whether any leaks are still within predetermined, permissible limit values. The thermal flow sensor or sensors are preferably designed as thermistors.
Embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to the drawing. Show it:
Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of a device for testing the tightness of a container to which the device can be connected,
24 shows longitudinal sections through flow chambers with thermal flow sensors for the device of FIG. 1, FIG. 5 shows a circuit diagram of a display circuit arrangement for the device of FIG. 1,
FIG. 6 is a circuit diagram of a display circuit arrangement with three thermistors for the device of FIG. 1.
Fig. 1 shows a block diagram of a device for testing the tightness of a container for a liquid or gaseous medium. A pressure source, which contains an air compressor 1 and a pressure regulator 2, is connected to a connection 4 via a thermal flow detector 3 by means of a line 5.
A container 9, the tightness of which is to be measured, is connected to the connection 4 and receives air from the pressure source at a test pressure.
The flow detector 3 can be bridged by a bypass line 6 in which a first valve 7 is arranged. A second valve 8 is arranged in series with the flow detector 3 in the line 5 in order to allow or prevent air flow through the flow detector. A third valve 10, an outlet valve, is arranged in a line 11, one end of which is connected between the valve 8 and the connection 4 to the line 5 and the other end of which is open to the bypass atmosphere. Another valve 12 is arranged in series with the first valve in the bypass line 6.
The valves 10 and 12 are controlled by a manually operated switchover element 13. In one switching position of the switching element 13, the valve 10 is open and the valve 12 is closed, and in its other switching position the valve 12 is open and the valve 10 is closed.
The valves 7 and 8 are controlled by an automatically actuated switching element 14. In one switching position of the switching element 14, the valve 7 is open and the valve 8 is closed, and in its other switching position the valve 8 is open and the valve 7 is closed. The switching position of the automatic switching device 14 are controlled by a Actuate transmission device 15 which is attached to a membrane 16 dividing a chamber 17 into two compartments 18 and 19. The actuating device 15 is in the form of a rod which is guided through an opening in the chamber wall and carries a sealing ring (not shown) in order to prevent air from escaping through the opening.
The compartments 18 and 19 are connected to the pressure source and the connection 4 via lines 20 'and 21' and via the line 5.
The position of the membrane 16 is determined by the pressure difference between the pressure source and the connection 4. The membrane 16 in turn determines the position of the actuating device 15 and thereby the switching position of the switching element 14.
If the pressure of the pressure source is the same as that at connection 4, the position of membrane 16 is that at which valve 7 is closed and valve 8 is open. If the pressure of the pressure source is greater than the pressure at connection 4, valve 7 is opened and valve 8 is closed. Accordingly, the chamber 17 and the switching element 14 form a differential pressure switch.
The valves 7, 8, 10 and 12 are known servo valves and are operated by compressed air. The air pressure prevailing in the lines through which the valves control the air flow keeps the valves open. The valves only close when they are exposed to a pressure higher than the test pressure.
A pressure which is higher than the test pressure is supplied by a second pressure regulator 26 ′ which is connected to the air compressor 1. Compressed air is fed from the pressure regulator 26 'via lines 28' and 27 'to the automatic changeover element 14 and to the manually operated changeover element 13.
The switching devices 13 and 14 contain two-way valves which selectively direct the compressed air of the lines 28 'and 27' to the valves 7 or 8 or the valves 10 or 12 via lines 22 'or 23' or 24 'or 25'.
In order to carry out a test measurement, the air compressor 1 is switched on and the container 9 is connected to the connection 4, the manually operated switchover element 13 being brought into the switching position in which the valve 10 is opened and the valve 12 is closed. The valve 7 is open and the valve 8 is closed because the air pressure at the compressor 1 is greater than at the connection 4. The manually operated switchover element 13 is then brought into its other switching position, so that the pressure from the pressure regulator 26 'via the line 27' The compressed air supply is switched over from the line 25 'to the line 24' and the valve 10 is thereby closed while the valve 12 is opened. In this switching position, the valves 7 and 12 are open, so that air flows through the bypass line 6 to the container 9 and brings it to the test pressure.
As soon as the pressure 12 of the pressure source and in the container are the same, the pressure in compartment 18 of chamber 17 is also equal to the pressure in compartment 19. As a result, the switching element 14 is brought by the actuating device 15 into the switching position in which the valve 7 closes and the valve 8 is open. The air can now no longer flow through the bypass line 6. If the container 9 has a leak, however, air flows from the pressure source to supplement the amount of air lost through the leak through the flow detector 3, since the valve 8 is open. The flow detector 3 is a thermal flow detector which, accordingly, responds immediately in the event of a leak in the container.
After the end of the test, the manual switchover element 13 is actuated again in order to open the valve 10 and to close the valve 12. The container 9 empties here via the line 11; As soon as there is a substantial pressure difference between the container and the pressure source, the automatic switchover element 14 comes into operation, closes the valve 8 and opens the valve 7. Since both the line 5 and the line 6 are shut off, no air can flow from the pressure regulator 2 pour into the atmosphere. When the pressure in the container reaches atmospheric pressure, it can be disconnected from connection 4, whereupon another container can be tested in the manner described.
In Fig. 2, an embodiment of a thermal flow detector with two tetmistors is shown as a flow sensor. The flow detector has a chamber 20 with an inlet opening 21 and an outlet opening 22. A thermistor 23 provided as a measuring sensor is arranged in the chamber 20 in the straight line connecting the two openings 21, 22. A reference thermistor 24 is arranged in a corner of the chamber outside the air flow passing through the chamber. The resistances of the thermistors are temperature dependent; an air flow passing through the chamber mainly cools the thermistor 23. The differential resistance change of the thermistors 23 and 24 is used to bring an air flow to the display; this display depends on the flow rate.
In FIGS. 3 and 4, two further exemplary embodiments of thermal flow detectors and thermistors are shown as sensors.
A housing 25 forms a flow chamber with two compartments 26 and 27 which are connected to one another by a passage opening 28. Three thermistors 29, 30 and 31 are arranged in the chamber along a straight line. The thermistor 30 is in the passage opening 28 and the two other thermistors 29 and 31 are arranged at equal distances from the thermistor 30 in the compartments 26 and 27. Opposite the thermistors 29 and 31, openings 32 and 33 are provided in the wall of the housing; the line 5 of FIG. 1 is connected to these openings. The thermistors 29 and 31 are equidistant from the associated openings 32 and 33, respectively; In addition, they are arranged at points at which the air flow passing through the chamber from one opening to the other has the greatest speed.
The thermistor 30 is provided as a heating element.
When the air is still, the heat it generates is evenly transferred to the thermistors 29 and 31. In contrast, when air is flowing, more air is transferred to the downstream thermistor than to the upstream thermistor. In addition, the airflow transfers heat from the upstream thermistor to the downstream thermistor. Therefore, in the presence of an air flow, one of the two thermistors 29, 31 is cooler than the other, the associated differential change in resistance being used to indicate the air flow.
The embodiments of the chambers according to FIGS. 3 and 4 differ in the arrangement of the inlet and outlet openings. Air entering the chamber through the openings 32 hits the thermistor 29 in a direction which is perpendicular to the line of the thermistors 29, 30, 31 arranged one behind the other. Here, the air flows through the passage opening 28 along the line the thermistors.
In the embodiment of FIG. 3, the air flow then leaves the chamber in the same direction as when it entered, while in the embodiment of FIG. 4 it emerges from the chamber in the opposite direction.
In Fig. 5, an embodiment of a circuit arrangement for displaying the air flow is shown as it has been recorded by the flow detector described.
Two thermistors 34 and 35 provided as flow sensors are connected in branches 36 and 37 of a resistance bridge 38. The output signal of the bridge is amplified by an amplifier 39 provided with a stabilizing counter-coupling branch 39 '. The output signal of the amplifier 39 is fed to a galvanometer 40, which supplies a measurement display for changes in the differential resistance of the thermistors 34 and 35 of the flow detector and thereby a measurement display of the amount of air flowing through the detector.
6 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a circuit arrangement for displaying the air flow in the flow detector. This circuit arrangement is suitable for flow detectors with a heating element.
A direct current feed is supplied via lines 41 and 42. Thermistors 43 and 44 provided as flow sensors form the resistances in two branches 45 and 46 of a resistance bridge 47. A thermistor 48 provided as a heating element is connected to the feed lines 41, 42. The output signal of the bridge is fed to a galvanometer 49 via one of two range resistors 50, 51. The resistors 50, 51 can optionally be switched on by a multiple switch. The multiple switch has three jointly actuatable parts MS1 MS2 and MS3. The switch has four positions P1, P2, P3 and P4. In the P1 position, the circuit arrangement for checking the supply voltage (e.g. 13.
a battery voltage). In the position P2, the feed line 41 is interrupted and the galvanometer 49 is separated from the other circuit parts.
In the position P3 the resistor 50 is connected in series with the galvanometer 49, while in the position P4 the resistor 51 is connected in series with the galvanometer 49 instead of the resistor 50.
The present device has been described as a device for checking the tightness of containers with prints which are higher than atmospheric pressure.
Such tests can also be carried out at test pressures below atmospheric pressure.
