Symmetrical flexion resonator The present invention relates to a symmetrical flexion resonator serving as a frequency standard, usable in applications foreign to the technique of time measurement, having a U-shaped part, the two flexible branches of which constitute two vibrating blades or rods, as in a tuning fork, and two rigid arms, serving as counterweight, each connected to one of the flexible branches, in the vicinity of the end thereof, and in which the arrangement is such that , for each of the two symmetrical parts of said resonator, the instantaneous center of rotation coincides with the center of gravity,
so that the frequency of the resonator hardly varies with its changes of position in the field of gravity.
The resonator according to the invention is characterized by the fact that the rigid arms each carry, at their end opposite to that which connects them to the flexible branches, an element of an electrodynamic transducer serving to maintain the oscillations, the flexible branches carrying each, at their free end, a mass serving as a counterweight to said element of the transducer.
So. the manufacturer has, with the subject of this additional patent in addition to that of the main patent, a greater freedom in the choice of the constructive arrangements since he can place the elements of the electrodynamic transducer as well at the end of the rigid arms only at the ends of flexible branches, which can be of some importance in small mechanics where the small amount of space available is a major problem.
The drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
The fia. 1 is a plan view of a first embodiment of a flexural symmetrical resonator, and FIG. 2 is a plan view of a second embodiment of such a resonator.
The resonator shown in FIG. 1 comprises a U-shaped part constituted by two flexible parallel branches 1, connected by a transverse rigid part 1a having a lug 1b serving for fixing the oscillator on its support. These two flexible branches are intended to oscillate in the direction of arrow 2, like a tuning fork.
The resonator further comprises two rigid arms 3, fixed by one of their ends to the free ends of the flexible branches 1, the assembly being carried out by brazing or by gluing. The rigid arms are superimposed on the flexible branches, which reduces the size of the resonator surface. These rigid arms constitute counterweights with flexible branches, which reduces the size of the resonator surface. These rigid arms constitute counterweights with flexible branches, such that the instantaneous center of rotation of each of the two symmetrical parts of the resonator coincides with the center of gravity, so that the frequency of the resonator hardly varies with its changes of position in the gravity field.
The rigid arms 3 carry, at their free ends, each an element 4 forming part of an electrodynamic transducer, not shown because being foreign to the present invention, intended to maintain the oscillations of the resonator. The free ends of the flexible branches 1 carry counterweights 5. The elements 3 and 5 are fixed by brazing or by gluing, for example.
The resonator shown in FIG. 2 differs from that of the first embodiment in that the counterweights 5, fixed to the ends of the flexible branches 1, are replaced by the elements 6 of an electrodynamic transducer serving both to maintain the oscillations of the resonator and to balance the transducer elements 4 attached to the ends of the rigid arms 3. The efficiency is increased accordingly.
