Examples of alkylating agents are: methyl chloride, methyl bromide or iodide, benzyl chloride, trimethyloxonium borofluoride, dimethyl sulfate, diethyl sulfate, methyl benzenesulfonate, ethyl or butyl p-toluenesulfonate.
The alkylation is conveniently carried out by heating in an inert organic solvent, for example hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene or xylene, halogenated hydrocarbons such as hydrocarbon tetrachloride, tetrachloroethane, chlorobenzene, o-dichlorobenzene, or nitrohydrocarbons such as nitromethane; Nitrobenzene or nitronaphthalene.
The starting materials to be alkylated can be obtained by condensation of a 2-amino or 2-hydroxynaphthalenesulfonic acid chloride with an alkylene diamine or hydroxyalkylamine of the formula: An

The diazotization of the diazocampanents mentioned can be carried out according to known; Methods, e.g. B. with the help of mineral acid, especially hydrochloric acid, and sodium nitrite.
The coupling can also be carried out in a manner known per se, e.g. Usually in a neutral to alkaline agent, if necessary in: the presence of sodium acetate or similar union, the coupling speed influencing buffer substances or catalysts, such as. B. pyridine, respectively. its salts, are made.
The cleaning of the. Dyestuff salts are expediently carried out by dissolving: in water, in which case any unreacted starting dyestuff can become an insoluble residue. The dye can be deposited again from the aqueous solution by adding water-soluble salts, for example sodium chloride.
obtained in accordance with the procedure. Dyes as the anion, preferably the residue of a strong acid, for example sulfuric acid or its: or an arylsulfonic acid or a halogen ion.
The anions mentioned, introduced into the dye molecule according to the method, can also be replaced by anions of other inorganic acids. B. formic acid or acetic acid, chloroacetic acid, oxalic acid; the lactic acid or the tartaric acid are replaced; in certain cases the free bases can also be used.
They can also be in the form of; Double salts, with halides of the elements of the second group of the periodic table, especially zinc or cad mium chloride, can be used.
The dye salts obtained according to the invention are suitable for dyeing and printing materials, for example tanned cellulase fibers, silk, hair, leather or fully synthetic fibers, in particular polyacrylonitrile or polyvinylidene cyanide (Darvan). The dyeings obtained on these fibers are distinguished by good lightfastness.
The dyes also have a good reserve of wool, which makes them particularly suitable for dyeing blended fabrics made of poly acrylonitrile. The good fastness to carbonization of the dyeings obtained is also remarkable.

After the coupling has ended, the reaction mixture is salted out and filtered off. The filter cake is dissolved in hot water, filtered clear and salted again. The dye is filtered off and dried. It dyes polyacrylonitrile fibers in red shades of excellent fastness.
The coupling component used can be obtained by the following process: 61.4 parts of 2-acetylaminonaphthalene-6- (3'-dimethylamino-n-propyl) sulfonamide are dissolved in 200 parts of warm nitrobenzene at about 100 with stirring 31.5 parts of dimethyl sulfate in 60 parts of nitrobenzene were added dropwise, and the mixture was stirred for a further 5 hours at about 10.10. After allowing to cool, the nitrobenzene is poured off and the residue is washed free of nitrobenzene with petroleum ether and dried.
7.2 parts of 2-acetylaminonaphthalene-6- (3'-N-methosulfate dimethylamino-n-propyl) sulfonamide are refluxed in 56.3 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid and 62.5 parts of water for 1/2 hour so, the saponified solution can be used for the coupling.
The table below shows a number of further dyes that are obtained when, as indicated in paragraph 1, below. the diazo component given in column I couples with the coupling component given in column 1I.
EMI0003.0047
Dyeing instructions 1 part of the dye obtained according to the example, paragraph 1 is dissolved in 5000 parts of water with the addition of 2 parts of 40% acetic acid. In this dyebath you go at 60 with 100 parts abge dried yarn made of polyacrylonitrile staple fibers, it increases the temperature within half an hour to 100 and dyes for one hour at boiling temperature.
Then the dye is rinsed well and dried. A red dyeing with very good fastness to light, sublimation and washing is obtained.
