Fig. 1 die Ansicht einer beispielsweisen Ausführungsform einer Vorrichtung zum Durchführen des Verfahrens zum Anbringen der Luftaustrittsöffnungen in der Abdeckfolie einer Luftzuführungsleitung;
Fig. 2 in vergrössertem Masstab ein Luftloch der Folie im Schnitt;
Device for aerating waste water
In biological wastewater treatment using the activated sludge process, the cleaning effect depends to a large extent on the fineness of the ventilation bubbles so that the wastewater to be treated can absorb the largest possible amounts of oxygen.
So far, ceramic filter bodies have been used for fine-bubble aeration of the wastewater, which are indeed very fine-pored, but have a non-uniform structure. The individual pores are often so close to one another that the air bubbles combine when they exit the filter surface. It is known that the air bubbles expand when they exit the filter body or from a nozzle to about ten to twenty times the diameter of their outlet opening, so that if the distance between the pores or nozzles is too small, a sufficiently fine-bubble ventilation cannot be achieved. In addition, because of their irregular structure, filter bodies are exposed to a high degree of risk of blockages which cannot be removed by blowing out or backwashing.
The ventilation devices known hitherto also require a relatively high expenditure of energy.
The invention is based on the object of enabling fine-bubble aeration of wastewater through an air supply line arranged below the water level, which is covered by a perforated plastic film, while avoiding the disadvantages of the previously known devices. According to the invention, the holes in the plastic film are designed like nozzles with smooth conical walls and are spaced apart from one another on all sides by a multiple of their diameter. It has been shown that with such a device a surprisingly high oxygen enrichment of the wastewater is obtained with little energy expenditure, since the air supplied emerges from the numerous nozzle-like holes in the film in extremely fine bubbles with uniform distribution.
Because of the relatively large distance between the individual holes, the many small air bubbles enter the water separately from one another and cannot unite to form large air bubbles. This results in relatively large interfaces with the water, so that optimum oxygen enrichment is obtained for the wastewater. This enables high economic efficiency in the operation of the sewage treatment plant, especially since the perforated foils are simple and cheap to produce.
In one embodiment, the spacing of the holes from one another on all sides corresponds approximately to ten to twenty times their diameter. In this way, any combination of the individual air bubbles emerging from the ventilation device is reliably avoided.
The perforated foils expediently form the cover of horizontal, channel-shaped air supply lines or boxes with which they can be connected by welding or gluing.
The production of the perforated cover film is made possible in a particularly simple manner if, for example, a film made of thermoplastic material is placed on a smooth plate made of hard material over an elastic base, into which a large number of heated needles are pressed, which are then pulled out again . The needles used for turntables, for example, have a conical tip and give the holes the desired nozzle-like shape. The needles are preferably heated slightly above the softening temperature of the film material, so that the holes are not punched out, but rather melted and completely smooth walls are obtained, which offer little resistance to the air flowing out.
When the heated needles are pressed into the thermoplastic film, a bead is created on the surface of each hole, which has a further beneficial effect on the air outlet and promotes the formation of fine air bubbles.
If a hole is punched out of a flat filter surface, the result is a smooth edge of the hole. The air bubble emerging from such a hole will crawl outward in the radial direction with increasing air throughput, depending on the adhesion of the filter surface, with its adhesive surface on the surface of the filter increasing. In the case of a filter with a smooth, even surface and punched holes, the larger the air throughput, the larger the air bubbles that escape into the water.
If, however, the holes are produced in a thermoplastic film in the manner described by pressing in heated needles, then on both sides of the holes there are edge bulges that clearly stand out from the surface of the film and the holes impressed in the film have the property of pronounced Give nozzles. With nozzles of this type, the number of air bubbles emerging into the water changes with increasing air throughput, which combine at the most to form a closed air jet. In contrast, the size of the individual air bubbles remains unchanged, which only depends on the exit cross-section of the air holes in the film.
This fact is of importance for the use of the ventilation devices equipped with such perforated foils in sewage treatment plants, since the amount of air introduced into the waste water can be regulated without the percentage oxygen utilization significantly changing.
The cross-section of the holes, which are produced by pressing the needles into the thermoplastic film, depends on the thickness of the base of the film.
You can therefore easily adjust the desired cross-section of the ventilation holes by changing the thickness of the pad or by adding several pads.
The nozzle-like holes created by the conicity of the needles in the film are less exposed to the risk of clogging by the dirt or bacteria contained in the wastewater than the pores of the previously common filter bodies due to the relatively low thickness of the film and its smooth walls.
In order to be able to put the ventilation device designed in this way into operation without interference and to be able to achieve even ventilation, it is advisable to attach a vertical tube to the underside of the ventilation device consisting of a box or a channel, which is slightly longer than the air passage resistance of the perforated Cover film - measured in mm of water column. In this tube, a check valve is expediently arranged at the bottom, which, when the fan feeding the ventilation device is switched off, prevents water containing sludge from penetrating the ventilation box from below.
The water can only enter the ventilation box through the fine air holes in the cover film, which however still contains a certain amount of air when the air supply is switched off, which is compressed by the penetrating water until the pressure is equalized with the column of water above the filter surface. From this point on, water can no longer enter the ventilation box and the air holes in the filter surface remain in an air space.
The arrangement of a vertical tube on the underside of the ventilation device has the further advantage that bacteria that have penetrated the ventilation box with the water, which would form cultures if the ventilation device was not in operation for a long time and would lead to blockages and the air holes becoming overgrown, cannot get into the air holes .
Such a ventilation box can also come back into operation after a long interruption in operation, ud the air is distributed evenly over its entire surface. As a result, the air bubbles get evenly into the waste water over the entire length of the ventilation box. The risk of clogging the air holes is reduced to a minimum in this way, especially since the sludge particles deposited on the surface of the film can only cause clogging of the holes as small as a membrane, which are easily blown free due to their conical, nozzle-like design, because the thin film thickness results only a very small air path for the individual air holes, which is not subject to any significant pressure loss due to the conical shape of the holes.
The clogging of the air holes can be prevented if the air supply is interrupted if the films are provided with bactericidal substances, such as silver nitrate or similar chemicals, which kill any bacteria that settle on the films. These bactericidal substances can consist of a coating, e.g. B. paint, the foils exist, or the foil material itself can contain these substances.
The device used to produce the ventilation holes is characterized according to the invention in that a large number of needles with a conical tip are embedded in a compound held by a frame, which has a higher softening point than the plastic of the film.
The needles can then be pressed into the plastic film after it has been placed on the support of the steel plate made of cardboard, plastic or rubber. The needles are then pulled out again. The film is perforated like a sieve.
The invention is to be explained in detail with reference to the drawing. In this show:
1 shows the view of an exemplary embodiment of a device for performing the method for attaching the air outlet openings in the cover film of an air supply line;
2 shows, on an enlarged scale, an air hole in the film in section;
3 shows a ventilation box in a simplified representation in section.
According to FIG. 1, a film 1 made of thermoplastic material such as polyvinyl chloride or the like is placed on a base 2 made of cardboard or the like, which is placed on a smooth plate 3 made of hard material such as glass, steel or the like. lies. Numerous needles 4 provided with conical tips 6 are pressed into the film 1, which are uniformly spaced from one another in a mass 5, e.g. B. a solder or the like. Are embedded. This mass is held in a frame 7 on which an electrical heating device 8 for heating the needles 4 is attached. A perforated plate 10, held by springs 9, is attached to the underside of the frame 7, the holes 11 of which have a slightly larger diameter than the shaft of the needles 4. The perforated plate 10 is pressed down by the springs 9 to over the needle tips 6.
After the needles 4 have been heated, this device is pressed onto the foil 1 approximately to the softening point of the foil 1 until the needle tips 6 hit the plate 3. This creates a large number of conical holes 12 in the film 1, the smallest cross-section of which depends on the thickness of the base 2. Here, the perforated plate 10 rests on the film 1 and keeps it flat.
The needles 4 are then pulled out of the film 1 again at the same time, for. B. by lifting the support frame 7, the film being stripped off the needles 4 through the perforated plate 10.
The foil 1 perforated in this way is installed in the air supply line in such a way that the smallest cross section of the conical holes 12 is at the top and a nozzle-like outlet opening is obtained for the compressed air located in the air supply line, as illustrated in FIG. The holes 12 have a bead-like edge 13 at the top and bottom, which is formed from the material of the film 1 displaced when the needles 4 are pressed in. This edge bead prevents the air bubbles 14 emerging from the hole 12 from spreading over the surface of the film 1. From each hole 12 only air bubbles 14 of a certain size, depending on the diameter of the edge bead 13, get into the surrounding water. With a certain volume of air, a maximum of interfaces between air bubbles and the surrounding wastewater is obtained.
The film 1 provided with the conical holes 12 forms, as can be seen from FIG. 3, the upper end of a z. B. from a box 15 existing ventilation device to which the air is fed through the lines 16 connected to a fan from above. The aerator box 15 is installed horizontally at a distance from the water surface that corresponds to the respective injection depth. A vertical tube 17, the lower end of which is closed by a check valve 18, is connected to its underside. This preferably consists of a ball valve, the ball of which is suitably a rubber ball.
As explained above, the length of the vertical tube 17 corresponds to the penetration resistance of the perforated film 1 in mm of water column and prevents water from penetrating through the perforated film 1 when the air supply is switched off, since an air cushion 19 forms under it. In this way, blockages or overgrowth of the air holes 12 by the bacteria are reliably prevented even after a long interruption in operation, and the ventilation device is ready for operation at any time and provides even ventilation after the air supply is restarted.
The aeration devices equipped with the perforated foils can be arranged on a mechanical circulating device, which is progressively moved back and forth over the length of the aeration basin and lifts part of the waste water from the area of the basin shell, on which partial flow a horizontal flow is forced near the water level, which is then ventilated with fine bubbles. Since the ventilation only serves to enrich the mechanically circulated water with oxygen, the biological cleaning effect is particularly effective.
