Methyldecylketon, 4,6,8-Trimethylundecaono-2,
Acetophenon, Benzophenon, Formaldehyd, Acetaldehyd, Acrolein, Butyraldehyd, Acetylaceton,
Beispiel 10

Process for the production of molded articles of a non-textile type, starting from halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds
The invention relates to a process for the production of molded articles of a non-textile type, starting from halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds, which allows the properties, in particular the elastic and thermoplastic properties of the starting polymers to be changed in a favorable manner by chemical reaction of the same with nitrogen-containing organic compounds.
It is known that thermoplastic polyvinyl compounds, such as polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinylidene chloride and the like, can be used to produce moldings which are distinguished by good mechanical properties and chemical resistance.
By plasticizers such as dioctylphthalst, dioctyl adipate, tricresyl phosphate and the like, molded articles of this type, e.g. B. foils, tubes, plates and the like, a certain elasticity can be given, which, however, is lost in some cases even slight heating. So far it has not yet been possible to give such molded bodies temperature-resistant, rubber-elastic properties. Such moldings also have other significant disadvantages, such as. B. the softening when heated below 100 C, and the lack of light stability. In order to increase the softening range, it is known that post-chlorination of, for example, polyvinyl chloride was carried out.
Surprisingly, a process has now been found for the production of molded articles of a non-textile type, starting from halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds, with mechanical and thermoplastic properties that are changed compared to the starting polymers by chemical reaction of the starting polymers with nitrogen-containing organic compounds at elevated temperature, which is characterized in that the reaction is carried out during or after the deformation with such low molecular weight organic compounds that contain at least two nitrogen atoms in the molecule,
where the nitrogen atoms either carry at least one hydrogen atom or are in the structural element
EMI1.1
whose carbon atom, which is bonded to the nitrogen atom with a double bond, is connected with its other valences with hydrogen and / or carbon, and with elemental sulfur and / or organic sulfur compounds with reactive sulfur, or that the reaction with low molecular weight organic compounds, the said at least two Containing nitrogen atoms and at least one reactive sulfur atom in the molecule is carried out.
The following compounds are suitable as halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds for the purposes of the invention: polyvinyl chloride, copolymers of polyvinyl chloride and polyvinyl acetate with a vinyl chloride content of 2 to 98% and a vinyl acetate content of 98 to 2%, polyvinylidene chloride, copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinylidene chloride with a vinyl chloride final content of 1 to 99% and a vinylidene content of 99 to 1%.
Organic sulfur compounds for the purposes of the invention are carbon disulfide and all those sulfur compounds which, in terms of configuration, can be regarded as derivatives of carbon disulfide. To all of you is the grouping

The disulfides are preferred over the esters Ider thiocarbamic acid and the sulfenamides. The esters of thiocarbamic acid are preferred over the sulfenamides.
Here Y and Z denote hydrogen and carbon compounds with no more than 18 C atoms as aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic and heterocyclic radicals which, in the presence of Y and Z, form a ring and are the carriers of oxygen, nitrogen , Sulfur or phosphorus atoms can be in any bond. EMI3.2
correspond; here R, R ', R ", R"' and n have the same meaning as R and R 'and n n in formulas I and II.
Representatives from the group of guanidines are, for example, guanidine and diphenylguanidine, o, o 'ditolylguanidine, polyguanidine and all compounds of the general formula

These radicals and their substituents can be connected with and / or via oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen or phosphorus atoms. The radical R ″ should, however, generally not contain more than 10 carbon atoms. The radicals R, R ', R "can be closed to form a ring.
The dicarboxylic acid diamides generally also include urea. Because of its well-known special position within this compound class, however, it should be listed as a special group within the class. EMI4.3
In this formula, R, R ', R "and R"' have the same meaning as R and R 'in formula XI. These radicals can also be closed to form a ring and contain heteroatoms.
Instead of treating the halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds with the sulfur compounds and the basic nitrogen-containing compounds at the same time or one after the other, however, the polyvinyl compounds can also be treated with compounds which, in addition to sulfur, contain one or more organically bound amino groups in the molecule. Preferred representatives of this group are, for example, 2-mercaptobenzimidazole and its salts, diphenylthiourea or alile amino compounds of the general formulas I-XII which still contain sulfur atoms in an effective form,
for example as a disulfide bridge SS-within the radicals R, R ', R ", R"' or as a substituent of these radicals in the bond C = S and -C-SH (R). In this group, for the purposes of the invention, no claims are made of compounds in which the sulfur is in the configuration
EMI4.4
present.
The compounds listed individually have already been described in the literature: For use in rubber processing technology, ICI's pocket book for rubber technologists, Bayer's handbook of chemicals for the rubber industry and of Kluckow's rubber chemist's practice, for example, from the sulfur-containing compounds listed by name:
Tetramethylthiuram disulfide, pentamethylene dithiocarbamic acid piperidine,
Mercaptobenzothiazole, cyclohexyläthyldithiocarb aminsaures Cyclo äthylamin,
Dibenzothiazyl disulfide, zinc isopropyl xanthate,
Mercaptothiazole, 2-component mercaptobenzothiazole,
Mercaptobenzimidazole and diphenylthiourea.
Of the amino compounds mentioned by name, the following were used as accelerators in rubber technology: hexamethylenediamine, o, o'-ditolylguanidine, diphenylguanidine, diphenylurea.
Of all the above-mentioned organic basic compounds which contain at least 2 nitrogen atoms in the molecule, those which correspond to the general formulas I to IV and the reaction products of the compounds according to these formulas with compounds according to the formula VI are preferably used.
The sulfur and / or the sulfur compounds can be added to the polyvinyl compounds in amounts of 0.01 to 12% by weight, preferably 0.2 to 5% by weight, the basic nitrogen compounds according to the invention can be used in amounts of 0.01 to 15% by weight. , preferably 0.2 to 6% by weight, based on the polyvinyl compounds, are added.
The mechanical properties of the polyvinyl compounds can be varied considerably through the amount and type of compounds according to the invention added, and any transition is possible from rubber-elastic to hard or leather-like products. The process is refined by varying the temperature. The reaction of the sulfur and nitrogen compounds with the polyvinyl compounds is generally carried out at a temperature of 110 to 2100 C, preferably between 140 and 1900 C. The reaction time can be 1 minute to 1 hour, depending on the compound used and the temperature.
Often, however, it can also be advantageous to post-heat after the reaction to improve the properties. Here, the Tempe tion temperatures are generally lower than the reaction temperatures. A temperature range of 60 to 1400 C is sensible. Tempering can of course be carried out indefinitely, but for reasons of economy it should not last longer than 48 hours. Heat treatments of between 15 minutes and 24 hours are preferably carried out. The variation within this time span of 15 minutes to 24 hours is dependent on the type and reactivity of the substances used in the context of the invention, the previous reaction temperature and any additives.
Depending on the intended use of the moldings made of halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds treated with the nitrogen compounds used according to the process, additives can be used to achieve a significant refinement of the process and improvement of the properties of the moldings. Additives within the meaning of the invention are fillers and / or dyes and / or pigments and / or plasticizers and / or plasticizers or lubricants and / or stabilizers and / or water-repellent agents known per se.
The fillers can be used in amounts from 0.1 to 150% by weight, preferably from 0.5 to 60% by weight, based on the polyvinyl compound. be admitted. All types of soot, such as flame, color or gas soot, can be used as fillers. Particularly good results are obtained when using highly dispersed and / or post-treated, for example post-oxidized soot. It is also advantageous to use precipitated white fillers such as highly disperse silica, titanium dioxide, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide and the like. Finely divided chalk, mica, iron oxide can also be used successfully.
Preferably, however, those finely divided oxides of a metal or metalloid are used which have been obtained by oxidative or hydrolytic decomposition of volatile metal or metalloid compounds in the gas phase at elevated temperature. Mixed oxides or oxide mixtures are also accessible to the process according to the invention.
All known dyes and pigments which are suitable for polyvinyl compounds can be used as dyes and pigments. There is no need to list a number of dyes and pigments, as these substances are generally known.
However, additions of fibrous materials such as textile fibers, asbestos, glass fibers, etc. have also proven to be advantageous. The addition of plasticizers can also be varied within wide limits. The extreme limit for the addition of plasticizers is 180, but the plasticizers are preferably added in amounts of 0 to 150% by weight, based on the polymer. For example, the following plasticizers can be used, among others: dioctyl phthalate, dibutyl phthalate, dioctyl adipate, tricresyl phosphate, diphenyl phosphate, cresyl phosphate, higher esters of butyric acid and epoxy plasticizers. The plasticizers are known from the processing of polyvinyl compounds.
Stabilizers which can be used are those which are known from the processing of polyvinyl compounds. These are zinc, cadmium, lead and barium soaps or also soluble organic compounds of these soaps. Also organic tin compounds, epoxy stabilizers and gelates. In particular, maleates of the metals mentioned have proven to be particularly effective together with the substances according to the invention. For example, the following stabilizers which can be used alone and in mixtures may be mentioned: zinc stearate, barium cadminum laurate, dibutyltin dilaurate, S-containing dibutyltin dilaurate, dibutyltin maleate, tribasic lead maleate and compounds which contain epoxy groups.
The amounts of stabilizers or mixtures thereof used are 0.01 to 6% by weight or, if an epoxy plasticizer with stabilizing properties, including this, is used, up to 8.5% by weight, based on the polyvinyl compound.
The addition of plasticizers, lubricants and water-repellent agents, for example silicone oil, polyethylene, stearic acid, paraffin or petroleum jelly and higher esters of thioglycolic acid (C0-C14), will, if necessary, generally not be more than 25% by weight , but these substances are preferably used in amounts of 0 to 10% by weight, based on the polymer. Your. Use is often dependent on the machines used to process the masses.
The process according to the invention can be carried out, for example, in such a way that the polyvinyl compound is dispersed in a plasticizer and mixed to form a paste. The fillers and the sulfur and basic nitrogen compounds according to the invention as well as further additives, which may be made, are mixed with this paste in a kneader, stirrer, three-roll mill or the like. The resulting mixture can, for example, be drawn into a film on a film drawing calender at an elevated temperature.
However, the compound can also be injected directly into molded articles such as hoses, pipes or profile seals with the aid of an extruder. With the help of a plate press it is possible to produce plates or foils. In the case of the extruder, but especially in the case of the press, it has been shown that the use of pressure is often advantageous when using the method according to the invention. It is generally not necessary to limit the pressure, but for economic reasons it makes sense to use pressures of 0 to 250 kg / cm2. A mixture as described above can also be applied to commercial areas with the help of a coating machine. Gelation and the reaction with the substances according to the invention then take place in the heating zone of a gelation channel.
Of course, it is also possible to add the nitrogen compounds to the starting mixture immediately after rolling and then to process the mass on a calender or by spraying.
The mass is then in a pre-gelled form; the reaction only takes place in the calender or in the injection machine. The latter work is a work in the two-stage process.
However, one can also proceed in such a way that the dissolved nitrogen compounds are allowed to act on finished molded articles of the non-textile type of the polyvinyl compound. It is advantageous here to first treat the shaped body with a solution of the sulfur and / or the organic sulfur compound and then with a solution of the basic compound which has an accelerating effect. It is advantageous to use a solvent which dissolves or swells both the substances according to the invention and the polyvinyl compound.
An example of a vinyl compound is polyvinyl chloride and an organic sulfur compound
N-Cyclopentamethylene ammonium cyclopentamethylene dithiocarbamate and, for a basic compound, hexamethylene diamine. Cyclohexanone can be used as a solvent for these 3 substances. However, plasticizers with dissolving properties can also perform the same function. Such plasticizers are e.g. B. the dioctyl phthalate, dioctyl adipate or dibutyl sebacate.
The high molecular weight substances treated by the process according to the invention can also. according to known methods for the production of elastic see foams with the aid of known blowing agents are used. The foams produced in this way are characterized by high stability and great elasticity. It is therefore not necessary in their Her position to use high amounts of plasticizer, as has been customary in the past.
The production of such foams is also associated with the advantage that they can be provided with a film or the like in one operation, so that subsequent gluing or lamination of the films is saved.
The method according to the invention gives the halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds, as already described, elastic properties which are similar to those of rubber and synthetic rubber. In addition, the process according to the invention gives the polyvinyl compounds further properties which, compared with the state of the art, allow the use of the polyvinyl compounds to be more broadly based.
An improvement in resistance to cold, but especially in stability, is achieved. Furthermore, the treatment, in particular when using the stabilizers mentioned, results in a substantial improvement in the stabilization. This becomes noticeable by increasing the heat resistance and suppressing the discoloration while maintaining the good mechanical properties. Furthermore, the treatment according to the invention also has an improving effect on the adhesion of the halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds to natural and synthetic fibers, in particular to cotton and polyamide fibers.
Whether and which chemical reactions occur in the process according to the invention has not yet been clarified in detail, but it should be assumed that the action of the nitrogen compounds on the halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds leads to crosslinking of these compounds. This is expressed in the fact that halogen-containing polyvinyl compounds treated according to the invention are increasingly becoming insoluble, their flowability is suppressed, hysteresis phenomena are less and it was possible to determine net mesh sizes for individual compounds.
Although, for example, the individual compounds were explained in the preceding description and the order of magnitude of their use was determined by specifying the quantities, the following special examples should be mentioned to further explain the process:
example 1
A film made of polyvinyl chloride with a content of 30% dioctyl phthalate as plasticizer, 10% color pigment and 1% lead stearate is continuously drawn through carbon disulfide at 60 ° C. for 5 minutes. The surface of the film is then dried and passed through a second bath consisting of a solution of 20% hexamethylenediamine in a mixture of acetone and cyclohexanone.
The surface of the film is then dried and heated to 60 ° C. for 5 hours. The film treated in this way has acquired a rubber-like elasticity.

The procedure is as in Example 1, the only difference being that a 20% solution of potassium xanthate in acetone with a small amount of water added is used as the first treatment liquid. A 20% solution of ethylenediamine in acetone and ethyl acetate is used as the second treatment liquid.
Example 3
A film as described in Examples 1 and 2 is treated at 60 ° C. for five minutes in a bath which consists of a 15% strength solution of 2-mercapto-benzimidazole in methyl ketone. After this single bath treatment, the film has acquired good elastic properties.
Example 4
60 parts of PVC are included
40 parts of dioctyl phthalate t pasted. In these
Be paste
5 parts of color pigments,
2.5 parts of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole and after a
Still maturing time of 20 to 30 minutes
2.0 parts of diethylenetriamine stirred in. It is left to mature for another 15 minutes and then added
0.5 parts of lead stearate as a stabilizer.
This paste is brushed onto fabric and then gelled at 1700 for about 10 minutes. A crosslinking occurs here, and an artificial leather with a rubber-like coating is obtained.
Example 5
A paste is prepared as in Example 4, but instead of PVC a copolymer of vinyl chloride and; Vinyl acetate and instead of 2 parts diethylenetriamine 2.5 parts propylenetriamine. After the paste has been completed, it is drawn out into a film on a film drawing calender at 170 ° C. and gelled in the process.
A rubber-elastic film is obtained.
Example 6
It is rolled into a paste of the following composition
50 parts PVC
50 parts of dibutyl phthalate
5 parts of color pigments
1 part sulfur
0.8 parts of tetradiuram disulfide
1.5 parts of hexamethylenediamine and 0.5 parts of zinc stearate at a roller temperature of 120/5 C, five parts of a highly dispersed silicon dioxide obtained in the gas phase. The temperature of the roller is then increased to 175 ° C. and the mass is pulled out to form a film. This is elastic and has a remarkable firmness and tensile strength.
Example 7
A polyvinyl chloride film made from
70 parts of polyvinyl chloride
30 parts of dioctyl phthalate as a plasticizer
10 parts of color pigment 1.0 part of lead stearate is composed as a stabilizer, is immersed for 5 minutes in a 10% solution of tetrathiuran disulfide in carbon disulfide and tetrahydrofuran (1: 1). The surface is dried off and then immersed for 5 minutes in a 25% strength solution of a reaction product of nitrosobenzene with malonic esters in methyl ethyl ketone. The surface is then dried again.
For the aftertreatment, the film is heated at 1200 ° C. for 4 hours. According to this treatment, the film has very elastic properties.
Depending on the desired degree of softness of the film, a certain proportion of plasticizer can also be added to the solution of the reaction product in order to prevent the plasticizer from being excessively washed out of the film.
Example 8
The procedure is as in Example 7, but the film is first immersed for 6 minutes in a 10% solution of ammonium butyl xanthate in acetone and then for 7 minutes with a 30% solution of a reaction product of acetylacetone with p, p 'dinitroso-B iphenyl treated in tetrahydrofuran on. In the subsequent heat treatment, the film is heated to 1600 ° C. within 2 hours. After this treatment, it has rubber-elastic properties.
Example 9
2.5% (based on the polyvinyl chloride) of the sulfur-containing compound mentioned in Example 8 are mixed into a paste which has the same composition as the film of Example 7. The paste is allowed to mature at about 50 for 2 hours. Then 4% (based on the polyvinyl chloride) of the reaction product mentioned in Example 8 are mixed in.
The mass obtained can be applied to a carrier such as paper, felt, fleece, fabric and the like. a., or be deleted in forms. The coated material or the moldings are baked at a temperature of 1800 C for 15 minutes. After a residence time of one hour at 1200 ° C., it is allowed to cool slowly to room temperature. The coating or the moldings have rubber-elastic properties and are artificial leather products.
Example 10
A PVC film made from
65 parts of polyvinyl chloride
35 parts of adipic acid ester as a plasticizer
12 parts of color pigments
0.8 parts of cadmium stearate is composed as a stabilizer, is immersed for 3 minutes in a solution of mercaptobenzothiazole in carbon disulfide and tetrahydrofuran, allowed to dry on the surface and then for 4 minutes in a 20% solution of a reaction product of ethylenediamine and benzaldehyde by alkaline condensation and removal of the water of reaction using solid sodium hydroxide, immersed in tetrahydrofuran. For aftertreatment, the film is heated at 800 ° C. for 24 hours.
This treatment gave the film a soft rubber-like character as a result of the crosslinking that occurred.
Depending on the desired degree of softness of the film, plasticizers can also be added to the solution of the reaction product of the diamine with the aldehyde or ketone to prevent the plasticizer from being excessively washed out of the film.
Example 11
A mixture, which can be processed by injection molding using an extruder, is produced as follows:
50 parts of polyvinyl chloride
50 parts plasticizer
5 parts of one produced in the gas phase
Silica aerogels
8 parts of highly active soot
1 part sulfur
0.6 parts of thiuram disulfide
0.3 parts of ammonium phenyl ethyl dithio carbamate are mixed in a rubber kneader at a maximum temperature of 1000 C for a maximum of 30 minutes. This mixture is fed continuously to an extruder and at the same time a solution or
Slurry of N, N-diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine and a reaction product of hexamethylenediamine with benzaldehyde, the ratio of hexamethylenediamine to benzaldehyde being chosen so that there is an excess of hexamethylenediamine of at least half a mol over the benzaldehyde, added in plasticizer that the amount of reactive substances added is not more than 2% and not less than 1.6% of the total mixture.
The temperature of the extruder should not exceed 1600 C in the screw, but it should be between 175 and 1800 C in the nozzle.
The briquettes are rubber-elastic.
If you use a nozzle that produces granules, this must be processed further within 24 hours, for example by pressing them into sheets or using a calender to make a film. Before further processing, 0.7 parts of lead stearate are added to the granulate for stabilization.
Example 12
To be used to produce a coating paste for artificial leather
60 parts of a copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate
40 parts plasticizer
8 parts of color pigments and inert fillers
0.6 parts of sulfur
0.3 part of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole
0.2 parts of ammonium äthyLxanthogenat 2.2 parts of a reaction product of
Methyl ethyl ketone with ethylenediamine
0.3 part of a reaction product of hexa methylenediamine mixed homogeneously with butyraldehyde and allowed to mature for about 2 hours.
Then 1 part of cadmium stearate is added as a stabilizer and the paste is spread on a carrier (fabric, fleece, felt, paper, foams II. A.). The mass is brought to gel at a temperature of 165 to 1800 C. After a short dwell time at 1000 C, the coating is rubber-elastic.
