Sauerstoff-Be- darf oder DOC = dichromat oxygen consumption)
Process for the post-treatment of pre-clarified wastewater The organic substances in wastewater are cultivated by various types of microorganisms and used to cover their energy and nutrient requirements. As long as free oxygen is present in the solution or dispersion, the organic compounds are particularly oxidized by aerobic and facultative aerobic bacteria; H. exhaled. In addition to heat and cell substance, mainly low-molecular compounds and gases are formed.
The degradation can go so far that only inorganic residual products remain; the organic matter is then completely mineralized. A complete mineralization of the waste water components is, generally speaking, the goal of waste water treatment.
Since not all bacteria and other microorganisms involved in degradation can attack all organic compounds to the same extent, the time required for degradation and the achievable effect are often very different, depending on the composition of the wastewater and the active microflora and microfauna. A very specific bacterial flora is often required for the inhalation of certain compounds. It takes time to develop one.
As long as wastewater always has the same composition, degradation is largely successful; but if significant qualitative fluctuations occur, the mineralization effect that can be achieved in the unit of time becomes worse or even called into question.
Oxidative degradation is only possible as long as the microorganisms have the oxygen required for this. In practice, this oxygen requirement is usually determined chemically by recording the so-called.
Oxidizability. All organic compounds are oxidized by means of dichromate or permanganate and the amount of oxygen required for complete mineralization can thus be determined (KMn0h consumption, COD = chemical oxygen requirement or DOC = dichromate oxygen consumption)
. The DOC value can only be used to a limited extent for calculating the dimensions of biological wastewater treatment plants, as not all compounds can be completely mineralized by microorganisms within a useful period. In this case, the biological method is used, which consists in experimentally determining the oxygen demand of the wastewater per liter in 5 days (BOD = biological oxygen demand). In the case of individual connections, the two values coincide; H. DOC = BSB "e.g.
B. in certain model experiments. In the case of domestic sewage, the DOC: BSBS ratio fluctuates between 1.4 and 3.2. This means that the mixed domestic wastewater contains organic compounds that are difficult or slow to break down by microorganisms. The water at the outlet of the cleaning system still has a biological oxygen requirement. The amount of oxygen required by the water flowing out of the system depends on the residual amount and the nature of the organic compounds, as well as the amount of oxygen still present in the water.
As long as the residual oxygen is sufficient to fully cover the biological oxygen demand, a system works well. However, if the biological oxygen requirement is higher than the residual oxygen content, the wastewater removes the oxygen required for the rest of the degradation (if it is available there) from the water into which it is fed. The result is that such wastewater pollutes the water in two ways: a) by removing oxygen to break down the remaining organic compounds and b) by diluting it with oxygen-free wastewater.
In this case, the self-cleaning ability of the water is impaired to a greater or lesser extent, and in many cases it is overused.
The wastewater treatment systems are generally described as working well if the degree of purification in relation to BOD is around 90%. This means that a wastewater inlet with BOD5 of 250 mg / 1 results in an outlet with a BOD5 of 25 mg / 1.
Usually, the discharged wastewater no longer has any dissolved, free oxygen; it therefore still pollutes the water to a great extent.
Attempts have already been made to remedy this deficiency on various occasions by directing the outlet to an aeration basin and ventilating it there for some time. There are known methods that use perforated tubes for gassing with compressed air, perforated metal or plastic plates, ceramic manifolds and / or the like; others used rotary aerators, brush aerators and the like. All of these methods have the disadvantage that only a small part of the oxygen provided is used and the entire treatment requires a very large amount of air.
It is about an exploitation effect of the oxygen from 1.5 to 2.5%. On average, the reduction in biological oxygen demand by 1 mg / 1 with an air volume of 30 to 50 liters is calculated.
A calculation of the required amount of air or ventilation time for complete oxidation is only of theoretical value, as various organic compounds cannot be oxidized with the molecular oxygen in the air alone and mineralization takes a long time together with microorganisms. Long-term ventilation not only causes enormous structural, but also operational additional costs, which by far exceed the portable framework. It is noteworthy that with the known post-ventilation systems, a considerable amount of bacteria is also brought into the water with the normal air.
It is also known that the wastewater before and after the sewage treatment plants are often be problematic in hygienic terms. In addition to huge amounts of ubiquitous microorganisms that are mostly harmless to humans, they often contain pathogenic germs and viruses. In particular, intestinal bacteria of the typhoid, paratyphoid, enteritis and dysentery groups, anthrax u.
Pus pathogens as well as bang bacteria and the pathogens of tuberculosis, furthermore the insidious lists and leptospira, as well as viruses of the hepatotropic, enterotropic and partly also neurotropic types.
Every body of water that is contaminated with wastewater (whether or not it is cleaned) poses a major risk in epidemiological terms. Certain pathogenic germs in the receiving water lose their virulence over time, while others retain them or can even multiply if certain nutrients (e.g. protein) are present, such as the aforementioned intestinal bacteria of typhoid, paratyphoid, enteritis and Ruhr group, the Listeria and Leptospira. Spore formers, such as
B. the anthrax pathogens are extremely resistant and keep their virulence for weeks.
From a hygienic point of view, water from receiving waters that has been mixed with wastewater may no longer be used as process water for humans and animals without thorough disinfection.
The present invention aims to find a way to eliminate the difficulties described. The invention relates to a method for post-treatment of pre-clarified wastewater by gassing the water with an oxygen-containing gas mixture and consists in that the wastewater is gassed with an ionized oxygen-containing gas mixture, while the wastewater is passed in a turbulent flow through a pipe section with a closed cross-section becomes. The gassing can expediently take place with ionized, ozone-containing air.
Further features and details emerge from the description of the exemplary embodiment that follows and from the accompanying drawing, in which a system for performing the method according to the invention is illustrated schematically and purely by way of example.
In a particularly advantageous variant of the method, the pre-clarified wastewater is passed through a jet pump device under pressure for gassing and the ionized gas mixture is automatically sucked into the jet pump device by injector action, where it mixes intimately with the highly turbulent wastewater and in the water is largely resolved. This prevents parts of the water from escaping the fumigation, as is the case with open ventilation.
When using an injector with high turbulence, a ratio of air to water 1:10, i.e. 100 liters of air per 1000 liters of water, can lead to a supersaturation of oxygen. Depending on the pressure used in the inlet and the type of jet pump, up to 10% of the oxygen present in the air can be dissolved, ie. H. 25 to 30 g of oxygen per cubic meter of air can easily be introduced into the water and dissolved.
Since it has been shown that certain organic compounds with air and microbes cannot be oxidized quickly enough, the method according to the invention uses an ionized oxygen-containing gas mixture. It is z. B. used air that has previously passed an ionizer and in which the largest possible part of the oxygen in the form of ozone, some of the other gases, such as nitrogen or hydrogen, are present in the form of their ions. These ions are strong oxidizing agents. It is known from ozone that only very few substances are able to withstand its oxidative effect.
The ionized air thus has a twofold oxidative effect: a) Through ozone, which is known to attack most organic compounds, be it through pure oxidation (e.g. with saturated hydrocarbons), through addition to double and Triple bonds or through peroxide formation (e.g. with aldehydes, ethers and alcohols).
The decomposition of the ozone takes place in stages, with pro ducts in an excited state, z. B. 0, 03+ 03+ - @ O2 + -f- O + -I- 0 The individual dissociation products, i.e. 03+, O2 + and O +, are strong acceptors and react accordingly quickly.
b) Through the withdrawal of electrons by the various gas ions. The positive excess charge ions remove the connections of the substrate Elek trons, such as. B. Fe ++ - e- Fe ... Cu + - e- - @. Cu ++ This is equivalent to an oxidation process, which means that when the wastewater is gassed with ionized air, the need for oxygen is lower than when using molecular oxygen and that the oxidation also proceeds very quickly, yes you can say at the moment.
In this way it is possible not only to reduce the biological oxygen demand, but also the chemical oxygen demand to zero and to feed the wastewater saturated or even oversaturated with oxygen to a body of water. This means that the oxygen conditions in every receiving water, be it a stream, river, pond or lake, can be rehabilitated. The self-cleaning ability is at least retained, and mostly significantly improved, by the introduction of wastewater treated in this way.
From a bacteriological point of view, disinfection takes place simultaneously with the oxidation of the wastewater components by ozone and gas ions. If the waste water is completely oxidized, there is a full guarantee that all germs, including spore-forming agents and viruses, have been completely killed. Such waste water effectively relieves a body of water and improves it in such a way that reuse of the water for pleasure purposes no longer poses a problem.
With this process it is also possible to treat any other water, to enrich it with oxygen or to saturate it, to eliminate its oxygen depletion and to make it bacteriologically flawless. This process is also suitable for processing commercial and industrial wastewater.
With reference to the drawing, an exemplary embodiment from practice will now be described: From the outlet of a wastewater treatment plant 1, domestic wastewater with a BSBS value of 20 mg / 1 is conveyed by means of a pump 2 through a jet pump device 3 and there in the ratio of water:
Gas = 10: 1 intimately mixed with ionized air with an ozone content of 1.8 mg / 1, the ionized air being sucked in automatically by an ionizer 4 through the injector effect of the jet pump device 3 and being intimately mixed with the waste water that passes through the jet pump device 3 is set in strong turbulence. At the outlet of the device 3, a pipeline 5 with built-in deflection elements is connected in order to maintain the mixing of water and ozo-nized air up to the inlet into a receiving water 6.
The BOD value of the waste water when it leaves the line 5 becomes zero, and the excess of dissolved oxygen is between 7 and 8 mg / l. The germ count is less than 10 per liter. In the ionizer 4, the air coming from the atmosphere is expediently passed through an electric field between electrodes which are connected to a high-voltage source, the air being ozonized and ionized.
The jet pump device 3 can optionally be designed in several stages.
