Clasp for bracelet or other flexible or articulated link The present invention relates to the clasps of the tines to join the two ends or two strands of a flexible or articulated link, such as 'a bracelet, a belt or other similar link.
It proposes to produce such a clasp making it possible to instantly adjust the length of the link, the closure of which is ensured by the clasp.
Various clasps of a common type already exist for this purpose which are used for objects such as belts and suspenders, seat belts, bracelets, etc.
Clasps of this type include a U-section bottom, secured to one end of the link and on which is hinged a flap provided with a cam, which presses on the other end of the link engaged in this bottom , either directly or indirectly, via an intermediate element mounted in a floating manner in this bottom.
These clasps have various drawbacks. If the pressure is exerted on the link by a floating interlayer element, the end of the link engaged in the bottom of the clasp must have a well-defined thickness. If this thickness is too small, the interlayer element will remain floating and this end could untimely disengage from the clasp. If the thickness is too strong, it will be impossible to close the flap.
These same drawbacks are also encountered when the cam presses directly on the link, the thickness tolerances being even smaller. In addition, in this case, the cam may mark and damage the link.
It is understood that such clasps are not very suitable for mounting on expensive objects such as watch straps and watch straps where the safety of the lock is a primary consideration and where the lock should not risk being damaged. damage the part on which it is mounted.
The invention proposes to produce a highly secure clasp that does not risk damaging the link on which it is mounted.
This clasp, forming the subject of the invention and of the type in which the cam presses on the link via an intermediate element, is remarkable in particular in that this intermediate element consists of a leaf spring. cantilevered in the bottom of the clasp at its end opposite to that on which the cam presses.
Thanks to this arrangement, the flexibility of the free part of the leaf spring makes it possible to compensate for large tolerances in the thickness of the link without the latter ceasing to be effectively held in the clasp. In addition, the support of the leaf spring on the link is a flexible support which does not risk marking or damaging the link.
The invention will be further illustrated by the detailed description which follows. For this, reference will be made to the appended drawing, given solely by way of example and in which FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the clasp in the open position.
Fig. 2 is a similar view of this clasp in the closed position.
Fig. 3 is a view in longitudinal section of the moiré iron of FIGS. 1 and 2, and fig. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 3 of a variant.
In the drawing, the clasp, according to the invention has been sup posed mounted at the two ends 1 and 2 of a bracelet, which can be for example a metal fabric bracelet or a bracelet with articulated links.
According to the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 3, this clasp comprises a bottom 3 having a U-shaped section and thereby comprising a base 4 and wings 5 .. The. fonda is intended _à to be secured to the end 1 of the bracelet by welding or any other means, while the end 2 is intended to be slid on the base 4 and locked on this base in any desired position.
For this purpose, the clasp comprises rusting worm means constituted by a flap 6 and a res out blade 7. The flap 6 is articulated on the bottom 3 by means of a pin 8 engaged in the wings 5; it comprises "two 'projections 9 eccentric relative to the axis 8 and thus forming a cam during the oscillation of the flap.
The leaf spring 7 is fixed cantilevered in the base 3 by a pin 10 engaged in an eye 11 formed at one of its ends and inserted in the aisles - 5. A second pin 12 also inserted. in .the wings 5 supports the leaf spring 7.
At its other end, this blade has a beak 13 directed towards the base 4 and it is in the vicinity of this. end that the cam 9 of the flap comes to rest on the upper face of the leaf spring. .
The operation of the clasp according to the invention is as follows. In the open position (fig. 1 and 3); the flap 6 is substantially perpendicular to the base 4 and is positively held in this position by the elasticity of the blade 7, unlike what is obtained in previous embodiments. In this position, the distance between the spout 13 and the base 4 is maximum and it is then easy to slide the end 2 of the bracket between these two elements,
operation greatly facilitated by the positive retention of the flap 6. The end 2 being slid sufficiently far so that the bracelet fits the wrist of the user, it suffices to press on the flap 6 to close the clasp. During this movement, the cam 9 presses on the blade 7 reducing the distance between the spout 13 and the base 4, until the edge of the cam 9 bears on the blade (fig. 2). : At this moment, the user hears a click which indicates that the clasp is locked.
The flap 6 is then horizontal and positively held in this position by the blade 7, while the end 2 is clamped between the base 4 and the spout 13. The support of the spout 13 on the end 2 is a support flexible which does not risk damaging the bracelet. Compared to previous embodiments, this clasp offers many other advantages. First, it is positively held in the open and closed positions by the elasticity of the blade.
In addition, the closing of the clasp is accompanied by a click, which is a safety signal. Note that a click is also observed when the clasp is opened, when the edge of the cam 9 leaves the blade 7, the latter resiliently striking the lateral face of the cam. Finally and above all, the following clasp -l'invention is very secure, because it allows large tolerances on _ The thickness. of the bracelet or other link.
The. -Variations in the thickness of the link are in fact compensated for by the elasticity of the blade 7 which flexes more or less. This elasticity is moreover adjustable by bringing the pins 10 and 12 closer together or apart.
The tolerances as to the thickness of the bracelet can also be further increased, as illustrated by the embodiment of FIG. 4. This embodiment is similar to the previous one, except that the nozzle 13 is removed at the free end of the blade and that the base 4 'ccmprénd -an edge 14 cut with a notch. 15 of the underside of the end 2 of the bracelet.
It has been assumed in fig. 4 that this extremity 2 of the bracelet is too thin for the blade 7 to press on it in the closed position of the clasp. Despite this, the end 2 of the bracelet cannot escape from the clasp, because the play between the free end of the blade 7 and the bracelet 2 is smaller than the height of the notches 14 and 15. This is not possible. made possible only by positive holding of the flap in the closed position, whether or not the blade 7 presses on the bracelet.
In previous embodiments where the cam 9 presses on the bracelet directly or via an intermediate element. floating in the absence of contact with the celet strap, the flap could open and release the strap inadvertently. _ _
