Two-way valve The present invention relates to a two-way valve, formed of a body in which is movable a valve subject to actuating means and to an antagonist spring, this valve being mounted between a first chamber connected to one of the two circuits to be isolated and a second chamber connected to the other circuit.
According to the present invention, the valve is characterized in that the valve is housed in said second chamber and is secured coaxially and in opposite directions, on the one hand to a member forming part of the actuating means and passing through the first chamber, and, on the other hand, a piston which passes through this second chamber and opens into a third chamber of the body, said third chamber being isolated from the second by the piston and connected to the first in order to instantly balance the pressures between them.
In an advantageous embodiment, the useful section S of the valve is such that sl + s2> S> s1 where s1 is the section of the piston and s2, that of the core of the electromagnet.
One of the particularly advantageous applications of this valve is the isolation of the distributor of a locomotive.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention provided with an electromagnetic control.
The single figure is a very schematic view of this solenoid valve, which has been disregarded in order to facilitate understanding of the drawing, of the assembly method of the various constituent parts of the body.
The solenoid valve comprises a body 1 which is not monolith as the drawing seems to show, but which, in reality, consists of several parts assembled one on top of the other to allow the assembly of the components contained.
The body 1 defines a first chamber 2 connected to a pneumatic circuit 3 and a second chamber 4 connected to a pneumatic circuit 5 independent of the previous one. The chambers 2 and 4 communicate with each other by a passage 6, but this passage is capable of being closed by a valve 7, the sealing gasket 8 of which cooperates with a seat 9 bordering said passage.
This valve 7 is integral with a coaxial rod 10 extending into the first chamber 2 and sealingly passing through the body 1. The rod 10 constitutes the core of an electromagnet 11 of which the excitation coil 12 causes, when powered, the application of an armature 13 against the pole pieces of a magnetic circuit 14. In other words, when the electromagnet 11 is excited, the core 10 causes the opening of the valve 7 and, consequently, the placing in communication by the passage 6 and through the chambers 2 to 4, of the pneumatic circuits 3 and 5. On the other hand, when the electromagnet 11 is not energized, the action of A spring 15 and the pneumatic fluid becomes predominant and causes the closing of the valve 7 which thus isolates the two circuits 3 and 5.
The body 1 delimits a third chamber 16 and the valve 7 is secured opposite the rod 10 of a piston 17 which extends into the second chamber 4, passes through the body 1 with sealing and enters the third chamber 16 Communication between the first and the third chamber 2 and 16 is permanently established so that the pressures in said chambers are balanced.
This communication could be effected by a pipe formed in the body 1. It is nevertheless simpler to provide, as shown, a pipe 18 extending through the piston 17 and the valve 7. In this embodiment , the opposing spring 15 associated with the electromagnet 11 is housed in the third chamber 16 and interposed between the bottom of the latter and the free end of the piston 17.
In the particular embodiment already mentioned if S designates the useful section of the valve 7, s1, the section of the piston 17 and s2, the section of the rod 10, S must be such that: sl + s2> S> s1 Under these conditions, experience shows that on the one hand, as long as the coil 12 of the electromagnet 11 is not supplied, the valve 7 remains closed regardless of the pressures prevailing in circuits 3 and 5. , and on the other hand, as soon as the electromagnet 11 is energized, the valve 7 opens and the force to be supplied is minimum.
In addition, it is advantageous that s2 = 2 (S - s1) because experience shows that the force of application of the valve 7 on its seat 9 is the same, that the circuit 3 is at maximum pressure from the pneumatic source and the circuit 5 to the atmosphere, or that this circuit 3 is to the atmosphere and the circuit 5 to this maximum pressure.
