Lung plug for pig slaughter The invention relates to a lung plug of the type used in pig slaughter. After the killing, the pigs are scalded in a cauldron with water of around 65, whereby the throat leading to the luncheon must be closed in order to prevent scalding water from entering the lungs through the mouth, which would destroy the sales value of the lungs. For this purpose, lung plugs are known which consist of an approximately cylindrical body attached to a rod with a handle, on which a flexible rubber washer of a significantly larger diameter is firmly attached.
These plugs are inserted into the pig's mouth while bending the rubber washer back by means of the handle on the rod so that the cylindrical piece penetrates the throat or throat and the rubber washer rests against the wall of the larynx. The rubber disk then closes both the throat and the throat, regardless of whether the cylindrical body is in the throat or throat. It hugs the wall of the larynx and is sucked in by the negative pressure in the chest, thus preventing water from entering the lungs with complete safety.
The cylindrical piece has no locking effect, but only serves to guide and hold the rubber washer in the correct position.
The known lung plugs of this type have the disadvantage that the rod provided with the operating handle protrudes in the inserted position from the pig's mouth, which prevents further processing of the pig in a dehairing machine because the extremely sensitive scraping devices mounted on rubber usual Enthaa approximate machines would be damaged by the protruding from the pig's mouth her metallic handle bar. The subject of the invention is a lung plug of the type mentioned, in which this disadvantage is avoided,
so that the pigs provided with them can also be fed to a dehairing machine with scraping devices mounted on rubber or the like.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the cylindrical body has a rod that can be placed in the pig's mouth and that has a wire loop or eyelet at the free end for gripping with a hook-shaped tool, and that a much longer tube carrying a handle is attached to the rod is inserted, which is used to insert the lung plug.
The longer tube carrying the handle is used to operate when inserting the lung plug into the pig's throat or throat, but is then pulled off so that only the shorter rod with wire loop remains in the pig's mouth, which is completely in place so that it the processing of the pig in the dehairing machine is not a hindrance. To remove the lung plug, a tool that ends in a hook is inserted into the mouth, the wire loop or eyelet is grasped and the lung plug is pulled out.
An embodiment of the subject of the invention is described below with reference to the drawing, which shows the device in partial section.
A rod or tube 1 carries a steel wire loop 2 at one end and a cylindrical rubber body 3 at the other end, which is slightly rounded at the front end at 4 and, for example, 40 mm in diameter and 100 mm in length. At the end facing the handle, a rubber washer 5 is firmly attached, which for example measures 100 mm in diameter and 6 mm thick, so that it has a certain flexibility. A tube 7, which is approximately twice as long as the rod 1 and carries a handle 8, can be inserted over the rod 1 including the loop 2.
For use, the cylindrical piece of rubber 3 is inserted into the throat or throat by means of the handle 8 so that the rubber disk 5 rests against the larynx wall in front of the opening of the throat and throat and seals it against the entry of water into the lungs. The tube 7 is then pulled off so that only the plug and the rod 1 with the noose 2 remain in the pig's mouth. The pig's body can now be scalded and depilated without the scalding water getting into the lungs. Then the lung plug is pulled out again by inserting a hook into the loop 2.
