Dies ge schieht in besonderen Klimakammern.
Folgende Stoffe erwiesen sich als geeignet: 1. Oxäthylierungsprodukte höherer geradkettiger Fett säuren, die vorzugsweise 12 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten, insbesondere von Stearinsäure, die im Molekül vorzugsweise 30 bis 40 1VIo1 Äthylenoxyd enthalten, und zwar in Mengen von 0,03 bis 0,2, vorzugsweise 0,05 bis 0,15 Gewichtsprozent, 2. natürliche Lecithine pflanzlicher oder tierischer Her kunft, insbesondere Eilecithin und Sojalecithin in Mengen von 0,001 bis 0,015, vorzugsweise 0,005 bis 0,01 Gewichtsprozent;

Laminated safety glass It is known to produce shatterproof glass by gluing two panes of glass using a synthetic resin layer. These also known as laminated glass discs play z. B. an important role as windshields in automobile construction. Their main task is to prevent splinter injuries in the event of an accident when the windows are destroyed by the splinters being held in place by the synthetic resin layer. Furthermore, the shock is to be alleviated by elastic rebounding and the occupants are prevented from bottoming out.
In accordance with these requirements, such an intermediate layer must have good adhesion to glass and high tear strength and elongation at break, and it must also be optically perfect.
For the production of this intermediate layer, plasticized polyvinyl butyral has been preferably used for decades.
Today it is mostly processed in the form of finished foils with a thickness of 0.38 to 0.42 mm. In order to produce flawless composite panes, it is not enough to simply press the foils with the panes of glass; instead, a special technique is required which has been developed on the basis of many years of experience.
This is understandable due to the fact that splinter adhesion and dielectric strength to a certain extent are opposing requirements that must be coordinated with one another, as can be seen from the following experiments: <I> Experiment 1 </I> If a composite pane is subjected to only low adhesion of the glass panes to the intermediate layer of an impact test with shattering of the glass, this results in coarse splinters that fly away in all directions, while the intermediate layer itself remains intact and the impact tool elastically intercepts.
Such a pane would not offer any protection in the event of an emergency, since severe cuts from the broken glass flying off would be inevitable. <I> Experiment 2 </I> If exactly the same impact test is carried out with a laminated pane, the glass panes of which, however, adhere excessively firmly to the intermediate layer, a breakdown occurs in the center of the impact, ie. H. In the event of an emergency, the casualty would fly his head through the window and cause serious injuries through the resulting splintered ruff.
It is therefore the task of the safety glass production to adjust the adhesion of the glass panes to the intermediate layer between these two extremes so that in the event of violent destruction, on the one hand, the splinter adhesion is guaranteed as far as possible, on the other hand, however, the film between the panes at the moment of destruction Glass has a certain possibility of stretching out of the fractures - a slip - so that the living force at the moment of destruction is not concentrated exclusively on the fracture points, but is distributed over the parts of the film pulled out between the fragments and thus elastically intercepted becomes,
that the film remains as intact as possible and no breakdown occurs.
One has z. B. found that such panes can be bent 6 to 8 cm at the moment of destruction and that the areal expansion, which must be taken over exclusively by the elastic film, can be up to 10%.
The polyvinyl butyral film on the market has the peculiarity that its adhesive strength on glass, if it is laid without special preparation, is too great, so that mainly the negative result of the second type can be observed in the impact test.
The adhesive strength of the film is therefore checked by so-called air conditioning before it is laid. H. somewhat reduced by setting to a certain, empirically determined water content. This happens in special climatic chambers. For the same reason, the laying of the films between the panes must take place in specially air-conditioned rooms.
These measures, in conjunction with conditions that must be precisely adhered to when pressing the panes, ultimately make it possible to produce reasonably satisfactory bonds. Since the finished composite cannot be seen to be successful or not, an ongoing inspection of the production through standardized and in some cases internationally recognized impact tests is required by the authorities. In Germany they are described in the guidelines for the testing of vehicle parts StV 7-4l33 T / 57 of April 27, 1957 of the Federal Minister of Transport.
They consist e.g. B. in the fact that composite disks of a certain size are smashed either with a steel ball or with a phantom modeled on the human skull and shoulder part under the same conditions. The following characteristic impact patterns can be achieved here, which are decisive for the assessment of quality and are rated accordingly:

The impact pattern of rating 1 corresponds to the desired optimum in quality. Associations with ratings 4 and 5 are to be rejected as unusable.
The previous practice of impact tests has shown that rating 1 was only achieved relatively rarely. In general, one had to be satisfied with the ratings 2 to 3, but impact images with ratings 4 to 5 were also relatively frequent within a test series.
As with all test methods that involve sudden material stress, a certain percentage of unsatisfactory results can be expected; In view of the constantly increasing demands in motor traffic, however, these could not be accepted in the long term.
It has now been found that significantly improved safety glass is achieved if the conditioning of the polyvinylbutylral film is supplemented by the addition of small amounts of substances acting as anti-adhesive agents, in addition to any air conditioning.
The following substances were found to be suitable: 1. Oxethylation products of higher straight-chain fatty acids, which preferably contain 12 to 20 carbon atoms, in particular of stearic acid, which preferably contain 30 to 40 1VIo1 ethylene oxide in the molecule, in amounts of 0.03 to 0.2 , preferably 0.05 to 0.15 percent by weight, 2. natural lecithins of vegetable or animal origin, in particular egg lecithin and soy lecithin in amounts of 0.001 to 0.015, preferably 0.005 to 0.01 percent by weight;
3. higher primary alcohols of a saturated or unsaturated nature with 10 to 20 carbon atoms, especially dodecanol (1) in amounts of 0.05 to 0.5, preferably 0.15 to 0.4 percent by weight.
All percentages relate to the pure polyvinyl butyral.
It was possible to show that these substances act as anti-stick agents by the fact that the conditions described in experiment 1 occurred when used in excess.
The addition of these substances does not adversely affect the polyvinyl butyral film, neither in its mechanical nor in its optical properties, nor in its thermal stability. This also applies to the yellow to brown colored lecithins due to the extremely small amounts to be used.
All measures that guarantee an even distribution in the finished film are suitable for adding these substances. It can either be added to polyvinyl butyral or plasticizers. The addition to polyvinyl butyral is advantageous because it can be added in the course of its production without any significant additional workload. It is particularly advantageous to use polyvinyl butyral that is moist from the manufacturing process, since drying can then take place in one operation.
More details can be seen from the following example: <I> Example 1 </I> A sufficient amount of filter-moist polyvinyl butyral from a single production batch with a water content of 55% and the following analytical composition: 19.0% vinyl alcohol groups 0.5% vinyl acetate groups and the remainder vinyl butyral groups and a viscosity of the 5% solution in 96% alcohol at 20 C of 85eP,
measured in the Höppler viscometer was worked up as follows for the purpose of carrying out an exact comparison: a) 222 parts by weight were dried to a water content of 1 to 2% in a fluidized bed dryer under gentle conditions and then with 40 parts by weight of plasticizer on an extruder into a film of 0.4 mm thick. In this and in the following cases, triethylene glycol bis-diethyl acetate was used as the plasticizer.
b) In a Henschel fluid mixer, a solution of 0.12 parts by weight of oxyethylated stearic acid, which contained 40 moles of ethylene oxide incorporated, was added dropwise to 222 parts by weight of the polyvinyl butyral in 12 parts by weight of water in 15 minutes, then kept in motion for 5 minutes then dried as under a).
c) Using the same method as under b), a solution of 0.01 parts by weight of soy lecithin in 10 parts by weight of water was added dropwise to 222 parts by weight of the polyvinyl butyral and then dried.
The soy lecithin used is made from Gliddex of American origin. d) Likewise by the same process as under b), 0.25 parts by weight of dodecanol (1), which were dissolved in 25 parts by weight of methanol, were added to 222 parts by weight of the polyvinyl butyral and then dried.
Films 0.4 mm thick with 40 parts by weight of plasticizer based on 100 parts by weight of polyvinyl butyral were produced from samples b, c and d as from sample a.
All four foils were simultaneously conditioned to a water content of 0.6% and processed into glass composites in accordance with the prescribed standards.
The impact tests, each with 6 random samples from selected composite panes, produced the following results:

<tb> d <SEP> 2 <SEP> 1-2 <SEP> 1-2 <SEP> 1 <SEP> 2 <SEP> 1-2 All additives, especially the lecithin and the dodecanol, bring about a remarkable improvement in the Impact resistance.
For the additives to be optimally effective, it is essential that they are completely evenly distributed in the finished film. In order to meet this requirement, it is not absolutely necessary to use the methods used in test games b, c and d. For example, the oxyethylated fatty acids can also be dissolved or suspended in the plasticizer, or they can be added to the polyvinyl alcohol solution or suspension to be reacted with the butyraldehyde during the preparation of the polyvinyl butyral.
The higher alcohols can also be used during the preparation of the polyvinyl butyral, e.g. B. dissolved in butyraldehyde, added.
The lecithins can also be added to an aqueous slurry of polyvinyl butyral or via the plasticizer. In the former case, the colloidally water-soluble soy lecithins are used advantageously.
The egg lecithin is preferable for the addition over the plasticizer, as it can be suspended in it better than the soy lecithin. If the film is not produced by the extruder process, but by means of a casting solution, the egg lecithin is simply added to this because, in contrast to soya lecithins, it is readily soluble in organic solvents, in this case methanol.
As is known, the production of polyvinyl butyral takes place either by simultaneous diversion and acetalization of polyvinyl esters, or following the diversion of polyvinyl esters, especially from polyvinyl acetate to polyvinyl alcohol. The anti-stick agents according to the invention can therefore also be added to the alcoholic, in particular methanolic, solution of the polyvinyl ester,
if they are soluble or suspendable therein. This applies in particular to the oxyethylated fatty acids, egg lecithin and the higher alcohols.
The following is an example of the production of polyvinyl butyral suitable for safety glass by the method just described: Example 2 In a kettle with a powerful stirrer, heating jacket and descending cooler, 100 parts by weight of a 10 weight percent solution are made of polyvinyl acetate of K value 75 dissolved in methanol 0.18 parts by weight of dodecanol (-1).
The alcoholysis of the polyvinyl acetate to polyvinyl alcohol is then carried out by adding 3 parts by weight of a 10% strength solution of sodium hydroxide in methanol with stirring at 18-20 ° C.
The polyvinyl alcohol has precipitated after 2 hours. After adding another 3 parts by weight of a 10% solution of sodium hydroxide in methanol, first half of the methanol and methyl acetate is distilled off and then with the addition of water and complete removal of the remaining methanol and methyl acetate, a 10% aqueous polyvinyl alcohol solution is prepared in which the Dodecanol added at the beginning is evenly distributed.
This solution is mixed with 25.0 parts by weight of 78% strength sulfuric acid while stirring at 20 ° C. and, after 10 minutes, with 35 parts by weight of butyraldehyde. The batch is then stirred at 20 ° C. for a further 30 minutes. An aqueous suspension of polyvinyl butyral is then obtained, which is heated to 70 ° C. and stirred at 70 ° C. for a further 2 hours. After cooling, the polyvinyl butyral is filtered off, washed and dried.
From such a polyvinyl butyral, after the addition of 40%, based on the weight of the polyvinyl butyral, of plasticizer, e.g. B. triethylene glycol to diethylacetate, films are made that give a safety glass in conjunction with silicate glass panes according to the desired properties in the impact test.
