Electromagnetic pump for pumping electrically conductive fluids The invention relates to an electromagnetic pump for pumping electrically conductive fluids. This pump is characterized by a rotor rotatable about an axis of rotation on which helical magnetic poles are formed, around which rotor a magnetically conductive jacket is arranged, with a pump part located between the rotor and the jacket coaxially with the axis of rotation of the rotor,
which has at least one helical flow path and at least one connection each for the inlet and outlet of the pumped liquid.
Electromagnetic pumps are pumps that convert magnetic energy directly into pressure. The electromagnetic force is used, which is created when an electric current flows through a conductor across a magnetic field. If the conductor is an electrically conductive liquid, the direction of the force acting on the liquid can be determined by the well-known electrophysical rule of the left hand.
In this way, the electrically conductive liquid, through which a current flows across the magnetic field, also moves across the plane which is determined by the electromagnetic field and the direction of the electrical current.
For certain technical purposes, electro magnetic pumps are required, which can develop a greater pressure of the pumped liquid than the previously known pumps. In the previously known pump with a rotating field, this increase can be achieved by increasing the number of magnetic poles that act on the liquid. However, if the number of poles is increased, the diameter of the rotor must also be increased in order to achieve adequate distances between adjacent poles.
This is because a certain distance between individual poles is necessary in order to keep a magnetic short-circuit flow small and thereby achieve a good efficiency of the pump.
Although it is also possible to achieve the pressure achieved by the pump by increasing the axial length, such enlargements of the dimensions, d. H. the diameter and the length of the rotor are often undesirable, since in many cases the external dimensions of the pump are limited.
The inventive electromagnetic Pum pe should allow an increase in the pressure supplied by the pump without increasing the dimensions of the rotor, possibly even with a reduction in the number of poles of the rotor. Simultaneously, a special version of the pump according to the invention is also intended to enable the simultaneous delivery of various electrically conductive liquids.
The invention is explained with reference to some execution forms shown schematically in the drawing, for example: FIG. 1 shows the three-dimensional view of an electromagnetic pump according to the invention with the rotor pulled out, FIG. 2 shows a three-dimensional view, partly in section, of the pump part of the pump Fig. 1,
3 shows a spatial partial view of another embodiment of the pump part according to FIG. 2, FIG. 4 shows a spatial view and a corresponding schematic development of the helical rotor from FIG. 1 together with the pump part from FIG. 2,
and FIG. 5 is a three-dimensional view, also partially in section, of another embodiment of the pump part of a pump according to FIG. 1.
1 shows an embodiment of the electromagnetic pump according to the invention, which has a rotor 10 which is connected to a shaft 12 or is made from one piece and is driven by a motor (not shown). The rotor is provided with helical grooves 16 in which electromagnetic field coils 14 are located.
The coils 14 are electrically connected to an external direct current source 18 by means of appropriate brushes and slip rings 20. The coils 14 are connected to the power line in such a way that adjacent magnetic poles on the rotor 10 have opposite polarity, with the Rotor 10 creates a magnetic field, the shape of which corresponds to the geometry of the rotor.
From Figures -1 and 2 _ the pump part 22 can also be seen, which is provided with connections 24 and 26 for the inlet and outlet of the pumped liquid. A magnetically conductive jacket 28 is arranged around the pump part and provides a flow path for the magnetic lines of force passing through the pump part and reduces magnetic leakage.
In the embodiment of the pump part 22 shown in FIG. 2, one or more helical partition walls 30 are built into it, which serve to guide the flow of the pumped liquid. However, a design in the form of shorter partition walls 31 is also possible, as is shown in FIG.
The partition wall 31 extends see from the outer wall of the pump part 22 radially inward and ends at a point which is remote from the inner wall of the pump part. In this way, flow channels 33 that are partially separated from one another are created.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the adjacent passages of the partition wall 30 form a screw-shaped flow channel 32. The flow channels 32 from FIG. 2 and 33 from FIG. 3 are arranged in this way; that their inclination with respect to the axis of the pump is opposite to the inclination of the helically extending grooves 16 or the corresponding poles of the rotor 10, as shown in FIG. 1. Therefore, if z.
For example, if the helical rotor has a right-hand helical shape, the flow channels are given a left-hand helical shape. If, on the other hand, the rotor has a left-hand helical shape, the flow channels of the pump part have a right-hand helical shape. The opposing inclinations of the poles of the rotor and of the flow channels of the pump part result in an improved pumping effect with increased pressure - without increasing the dimensions of the rotor.
The so he aimed increase in the delivery pressure of the pump is explained with reference to FIG.
In Fig. 4, the helical multi-pole rotor from Fig. 1 is shown together with a pump part 22 of the embodiment of FIG. 2 in a three-dimensional view, the pump part surrounding the rotor. The rotor 10 in this case is a helical rotor provided with four poles, the magnetic poles 34-37 of which can be formed by electromagnets, permanent magnets or a combination of these.
When the four-pole helical rotor 10 and the pump part 22 are unwound so that they can be shown in a plane, each of the pole faces 34-37 intersects the wound helical flow path 32 at an angle of approximately 90. In the electrically conductive liquid who induces eddy currents in the pump part 22, which run along the flow paths A-B and C-D shown in the figure, which run along the pole surfaces 34 and 35.
In the same way, induced eddy currents lead through the electrically conductive liquid along the pole faces 36 and 37. According to the physical rule of the left hand, the direction of the electromagnetic force FR that is exerted on the liquid in the flow channel 32 of the pump part 22 is perpendicular to Edge of each of the pole faces and is parallel to the flow path 32 of the pump part 22.
The vector of the force FR is the resultant of an axial vector f ″ and of a vector f pointing in the circumferential direction. The axial vector fa gives the liquid a desired speed and moves it axially through the pump part 22.
In the previously known electromagnetic pumps with a rotating field, a force F, not shown, is exerted on the liquid speed in the circumferential direction, and not a force in the direction of the force FR, from FIG Pumps are not arranged in a helical manner. With the known. Pumps had to be provided with guide walls, which were arranged at an angle O to the direction of the force F, in order to achieve a pumping effect.
The circumferential force F ″ was then broken down by the guide walls into components, one of which was perpendicular to the guide wall and the other was parallel to it. The resulting pumping effect was due solely to the parallel component of the force F. This is the case parallel component is much smaller than the force F "because it is a product of the force F and the cosine function of the angle 0, which is less than one.
Since in the pump according to the invention the axial vector f., Is created by the oblique direction of the force FR, a decomposition of the force FR is not necessary. The angle 0 in the pump shown is zero and its cosine function - equal to one. This size of the cosine function allows the creation of a higher delivery pressure in the pump, since there are lower losses in work performance. In the previous pumps, the losses arise from the decomposition of the circumferential force F, through the angle O.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 2, the partition wall 30 forms a helical flow channel 32 which executes a few full turns around the rotor along the axial length of the rotor. In the developed illustration according to FIG. 4, the individual turns of the helical flow channel 32 are drawn one above the other and over the pole faces 34-37 of the helical rotor 10 that have also been developed.
The partition wall 30 divides each pole face into a plurality of sections located next to one another, each of which acts with its force on the volume of the liquid that is located in the flow channel in the area of the pole. In this way, each of the sections of the pole acts with its force FR on the liquid, which forms the delivery pressure in the liquid.
When a certain particle of the liquid flows successively through the turns of the flow channel 32, each of the Polab sections acts with a force on the particle. The forces acting one after the other add up and form the resulting pressure increase. The pressure increase achieved in this way is significantly greater than with the previously known pumps.
It goes without saying that the pressure delivered by the pump can be increased even further by providing a helical rotor with a greater number of pole faces than the four pole faces 34 37 of the rotor 10. The diameter of such a helical rotor with a larger number of poles should also be increased in order to reduce the proportion of the lines of force flowing between neighboring poles in the short circuit. However, the number of pole faces can also be reduced compared to the example described,
since this is also made possible by the improved construction of the pump part 22 and the helical rotor 10 ver. The formation of the flow channel 32, the pumped liquid is successively exposed to the forces FR, each of the sections of the poles, and the re sulting, summed force results in a significant increase in the delivery pressure of the pump, as is not achieved in known pumps of this type.
In Fig. 5, a further embodiment of the pump part is shown. In the event that increased strength of the flow channel is required when pumping liquids at high pressure, the pump part 22 according to FIGS. 2 and 3 can be replaced by a helically wound pipe 40. This tube also provides a flow channel which runs helically around the rotor of the pump, in the same way as was described with reference to FIGS. 2 and 3.
Although a single pipe 40 was shown in FIG. 5, it is understood that two or more separate pipes can form the pump part of the pump. This makes it possible to simultaneously pump liquids from separate Sy systems through the pump. In this case, too, as has been described with reference to FIG. 4, the resulting force acting on the liquid is the sum of the individual forces FR ,, which is formed by each of the pole sections around the flow during the flow.
In this case, too, a significantly higher pressure increase in the liquid is achieved than with the known pumps.
It goes without saying that other embodiments of the invention than those shown and described, for example, are possible. Although the source of the magnetic field in FIGS. 1 and 4 is a rotor with a field winding excited by electric current, the magnetic field can also be formed by appropriately arranged permanent magnets which are arranged helically on the rotor. A combination of electromagnets and permanent magnets is also conceivable.
A helical rotor with permanent magnets as the source of the magnetic field is particularly advantageous for small pumps. It goes without saying, however, that other designs are possible which fall within the scope of protection of the following claims.
