EMI0001.0031
EMI0002.0078
sin a enthalten ist, so heisst die obige Formel 12):
EMI0002.0082
Gestützt auf Formel 11) und mit
EMI0002.0084
i = Alsin(D+cp). Dabei ist g =
EMI0004.0037

Somit entsteht eine Schwingung A,sin(cF+cp).

Sm = A, sin e, wobei (D = 0 (t) und
EMI0004.0102
sinA + msinB = p sinC, wobei p2 = 1 +M2 + 2mcos(B-A) 19)
EMI0004.0157
Aus der Ausgangsgleichung 18) kann abgelesen werden, dass
EMI0004.0159
A = (p und gleichzusetzen ist. Somit gilt für p2:
EMI0004.0162
EMI0004.0163
EMI0005.0001
Damit liest sich Formel 18):
EMI0005.0002
EMI0005.0017
wird cp interpretiert, d. h.
cp = arctg
EMI0005.0021
Method and device for the transmission of signals The present invention relates to a method and a device for the transmission of signals.
The transmission of signals from an outside location to a receiving location can, as is well known, be done via wire connections as well as via radio connections. In both cases a signal is encoded in some way, either by simple conversion into current or voltage pulses or by applying it to a signal carrier suitable for transmission. In the latter case, one speaks of the modulation of a signal onto a carrier. If this carrier is a uniform oscillation, the signal can be produced by changing the amplitude, the frequency or the phase.
An oscillation can be expressed by the general form it ,. = Atsin (cp + 9) 1), where it ,. the current of a carrier oscillation, A1 the amplitude and (D + cp) the phase position of the oscillation. The signal to be transmitted is now also an oscillation of the form: i. = Aosin a 2) im represents the current of the modulation oscillation, A represents its amplitude and a represents its phase position.
For the amplitude modulation, the amplitude A1 of the carrier oscillation shown under 1) is changed by the oscillation given under 2): it ,. = (Al + Aösin a) - cos (c? + Cp) or
EMI0001.0027
For the phase angle modulation of the carrier oscillation 1) the phase angle (0 + cp) is changed by the modulation oscillation 2):
EMI0001.0031
where A "means the phase deviation.
If one only considers the first two sidebands (n = 1), they have the form P - sin (c) + cp + a) and P - sin (cD + cp - a) 5).
If the modulation oscillation in the carrier oscillation itr divides the same phase angle (D = a er, then the two sidebands according to formula 5) are: P - sin (2 e + 9) and P - sin <B> g. </B> 6) The phase shift cp between the two oscillations 1) and 2) appears in one of the two sidebands.
It is known from correlation theory that a correlated product of two harmonic oscillations carries an informative statement because their mutual temporal states can be represented by an influenceable phase shift. Such a product shows the basic form:
EMI0001.0057
By comparing formulas 6) and 7a) it is clear that the phase angle modulation can be achieved using an auto-correlation:
EMI0001.0062
where cos c) is known from sin
EMI0001.0066
emerges. In this way, the phase modulation can be mathematically derived from a correlation.
Demodulation can now also take place in the same way. An incoming oscillation is converted into two oscillations of the form: iE '= Aisin (p and ir, "= Alsin (e + cp) 8).
The correlation shown in formula 7a) between the last-mentioned oscillation and the first-mentioned oscillation, which is phase-shifted by 7c / 2, results in the modulation oscillation in a sideband Sb, which is filtered out:
EMI0002.0007
The purpose of the invention is now to be seen in evaluating these findings by technical means.
The invention is characterized in that an oscillation phase-modulated with the signal is transmitted as a normalized frequency-modulated oscillation related to the band center and that in the receiver this frequency-modulated oscillation is converted into a phase-shifted, normalized oscillation related to the same band center and with a normalized oscillation ,
frequency-modulated oscillation is multiplied and the signal is filtered out of the product.
It is known from filter technology that a symmetrical bandpass consisting of reciprocal circuits with resistance to one another (constant-k filter) has a four-pole phase measure ss = cp, which can be represented by the following formula for the 7s or T half-term:
EMI0002.0035
SZ is the normalized frequency for a frequency band with the angular frequency w. for the lower end of the tape and w2 for the upper end of the tape.
The angular frequency wo represents the frequency of the middle of the band (standard frequency) and is calculated from WO = w1 (02 10b), conversely, for a given four-pole phase dimension ss = cp, the associated physical frequency results as the angular frequency w:
EMI0002.0060
If an oscillation i '= A1 sin 0 is passed through such a filter, an oscillation with the phase shift cp arises:
i = Aisin (D + cp) = A ,, sin (0 -I- arcsin <B> 9) </B> 12) This oscillation has the same structure as an oscillation according to the basic formula 1), but with the phase shift cp according to formula 10) causes a modulation of the oscillation resulting from correlation.
If in the expression sin cp = Q the normalized frequency is a signal of the form
EMI0002.0078
sin a is contained, the above formula is called 12):
EMI0002.0082
Based on Formula 11) and with
EMI0002.0084
As a normalized frequency <B> 9 </B>, the physical frequency can be expressed as a circular frequency w:
EMI0002.0088
By the fact that
EMI0002.0091
equation 14) can be written in a simplified way:
EMI0002.0094
This means, however, that the frequency deviation 0 w = w - wherever is smaller than the bandwidth <B> 27 </B> (w2 - w1) of the bandpass,
which is used to normalize the frequency and is therefore also smaller than the bandwidth of the transmission band. There is no dependency on the signal frequency. However, there is a dependency on the signal amplitude in that the frequency deviation is reduced with a small modulation of the signal level Aa.
The generation of a normalized, frequency-modulated oscillation in the transmitter, as an active modulator, is easy to understand: A carrier oscillation itr = Aisin (D, which is shifted by 7c / 2 in phase (Aicos 0), becomes with a signal oscillation im = Aosin a. The result is an amplitude modulation with a suppressed carrier:
EMI0002.0129
The carrier oscillation Aisin 0 is added to this product, resulting in:
EMI0002.0133
Looking at the vector diagram of a self-exciting oscillator shows that the oscillation with an additional phase shift cp with an example size
EMI0002.0141
is afflicted.
A compensation of this phase shift in a phase-rotating filter must satisfy the phase balance in the oscillation condition of the self-exciting oscillating circuit with the oscillation Aisin cp.
It is known that cross-element filters measure a phase

exhibit. If the oscillation according to 16) is passed through such a cross-section filter, the oscillation Aisin (D, the frequency of which can be influenced by the phase angle cp and thus by the oscillation Aosin a) is produced. An oscillation occurs in the middle of the band and in the band limits normalized frequency modulation.
A variant of this type of modulation for generating an oscillation with the same properties can be obtained if a 7c or T half-link quadrupole is used whose phase measure, as mentioned earlier, fulfills the condition ss = cp = arcsin SZ.
Instead of adding the carrier oscillation A, sin c to the product between the phase-shifted carrier oscillation A, cos (D and the signal Aosin a, the carrier oscillation with the quadrupole compensating phase position must now be added; thus equation 9): The vector diagram of this sum oscillation shows a phase shift cp for the sum vector, which can be determined from the following equation:
EMI0003.0025
From what has been said it can easily be deduced that any chain made up of half and whole links as well as basic links and / or derived links can be used as a phase-rotating network, provided that the same network is used in both the transmitter and the receiver is.
The phase measure ss = (p is therefore any inverse trigonometric function of the normalized frequency S2, which is permanently selected for each channel, i.e. (3 = cp = cp (62). This is significant with regard to practical implementation where as a result of inevitable Mismatches, instead of the wave phase measure that has been used up to now, the operating phase measure of the four-pole has an effect, which has a different,
however, the sender and receiver have an identical course cpB = cpB (Q).
Vibrations treated in this way are afflicted with a phase shift cp, depending on the Sen destelle, where, however, at this phase angle no information-bearing property needs to be added, since the phase change is also converted into a frequency change here. The transmitted vibration he experiences further uncontrollable phase shifts in the transmitting medium, but these are meaningless because the information is indestructible encoded in the normalized frequency modulation.
Only in the receiver is a phase-modulated oscillation related to the same band center recovered using a similar process in a phase-rotating network of the transmitter and broken down into the original signal.
The device according to the invention for carrying out the method is characterized in that an oscillator for the oscillation, consisting of a vibration amplifier with two feedback paths, is provided as the modulator, the first of which contains a phase shifter and a multiplier, the multiplier still the signal voltage> is supplied, and the second of which contains a phase rotating element with a normalized band center frequency,
EMI0003.0071
and that an adder element is in the feedback path, in which the oscillations of the two feedback paths are combined, the standardized, frequency-modulated oscillation to be transmitted being taken from the second feedback path, that a phase shifter and a phase shift element with standardized band center frequency are also provided, which the transmitted vibration is supplied in the same way and its outputs are connected to the inputs of a multiplier,
and that a low-pass filter for filtering out the signal is connected to the output of the multiplier.
With the help of the accompanying drawing, the invention will now be explained in more detail using some exemplary embodiments. 1 shows the block diagram of a signal transmission system, FIG. 2 shows the phase angle-frequency curve of a semicircle quadrupole, FIG. 3 shows a vector diagram,
4 and 5 each show a variant of the invention and FIGS. 6 and 7 show a circuit diagram for the signal transmission system according to FIG. 1.
The signal transmission system in Fig. 1 consists of a transmitter S and a receiver E. In the transmitter S a feedback oscillating amplifier 1 is provided, the output oscillation of a phase shifter 2 with a fixed phase measure and a phase-rotating half-link quadruple 3 are supplied.
The oscillation shifted in the phase shifter 2 is multiplied in a multiplier 4 by a signal oscillation fed into a connection M. The resulting product of the two oscillations is fed to an adder 5 and added to the four-pole 3 phase-rotated oscillation in the half-link. The total oscillation is limited, for example, in an amplitude limiter 6 and fed back to the oscillation amplifier 1.
The normalized, frequency-modulated oscillation taken from the half-link quadrupole 3 is passed on to the transmission path after amplification in a transmission amplifier 7.
In the receiver E, the transmitted normalized, frequency-modulated oscillation is amplified in a receiving amplifier 8- and fed to both a phasendre existing half-link quadrupole 9 and a phase shifter 10 with a fixed phase measure. The half-link quadrupole 9 and the phase shifter 10 are constructed in the same way as the stages 2 and 3 of the same name in the transmitter S.
The output signals from these two stages 9 and 10 are multiplied in a multiplier 11. The product is passed through a low-pass filter 12 and through an LF channel amplifier 13 and the signal oscillation is picked up at its output.
The mode of operation of this circuit arrangement is explained with the aid of FIGS. 2 and 3: The multiplier 4 in the transmitter is supplied on the one hand with the phase shifted oscillation in the phase shifter 2.
The original oscillation has the form A, sin cp; phase shift by the angle 7c / 2 turns this oscillation into an oscillation with the form A ,, cos (D. The other factor that is fed to the multiplier,
be a signal oscillation of the form Aosin a. A new oscillation can be found at the output of the multiplier:
EMI0004.0007
This oscillation shows the form of an amplitude modulation with suppressed carrier. The missing carrier vibration is added to this double sideband vibration.
The oscillation A, sin (D) taken from the vibration amplifier is used as the carrier oscillation, which was passed through a half-link quadrupole 3 with the phase characteristic cp = arcsin S2 and thus shows the form A, sin (cp + cp).
By adding this oscillation to the product of the multiplier 4 in the addition circuit 5, an oscillation arises with the current amount:
EMI0004.0025
This expression shows a phase modulation of the phase angle cp and an amplitude modulation in the expression (D a). A possible amplitude limiter 6 cuts the oscillation to a constant value so that only a modulation of the phase remains:
i = Alsin (D + cp). Where g =

From the amplitude balance of the oscillation condition with respect to the frequency in the feedback oscillator, where for the Mömentan oscillation A, sin (D = A, sinwt the frequency-dependent damping in the feedback circuit with the physical frequency - - must be the lowest, results from the formula

10),
that the normalized frequency 62 = sin <B> g </B> of the half-link quadruple 3 defines the frequency for the resonant circuit at every moment in time.
An oscillation A, sin (D, whose phase rotations cp in the transmitter and in the transmitting medium does not need to be taken into account, reaches the receiver E.
After the reception gain in. Amplifier 8 to a half-link quadrupole 9, the phase function of which is the same as that of the half-link quadruple 3 in the transmitter - y = arcsin bz, the normalized frequency b2 having the same reference frequencies with regard to the bandwidth and the band center in both cases.
This creates an oscillation A, sin (cF + cp). In a second branch, the incoming oscillation Asin ce is guided via a phase shifter 10 which has a fixed phase measure of W2.
This creates an oscillation A, cos (D. The two oscillations are multiplied by the multiplier 11, and the product is obtained:

Since the first addend contains a double frequency because of 20, it is easy to filter out the second addend as the desired signal oscillation through a low-pass filter 12 and to amplify and further process it in an amplifier 13.
The circuit arrangement according to FIG. 4 is a variant of the transmitter S according to FIG. 1. A vibration is formed in the vibration amplifier 1 of the modulator:
Sm = A, sin e, where (D = 0 (t) and
EMI0004.0102
After the phase shifter 2, this oscillation is called Sm cp 1 = Alcos cp. This latter oscillation Sm cp 1 is multiplied in the multiplier 4 with the signal oscillation NF = Aosin a. The result is the product NF x Sm cp 1 = A "A, sin a. Cos a.
In the adder 5, the carrier oscillation Sm = Asin (D is added to this product, resulting in NF x Sm cp 1 + Sm = Al (sin (D + Asin a cos <B> </B>).
In the half-link quadruple 3, this oscillation experiences a phase shift cp 2: NF x Sm cp 1 + Sm cp 2 = A, [sin (D + cp)] + Aosinacos (0 + 9). The oscillation condition can be set in such a way that there is no phase shift in the half-link quadrupole 3 at the first moment, thus cp = 0.
It results from the last formula: V = NF x Smgl + Smy2 = A, (sin0 + coscF - Aosin a). 18) As is well known, the following applies to the vibration condition:
sinA + msinB = p sinC, where p2 = 1 + M2 + 2mcos (B-A) 19)
EMI0004.0157
From the initial equation 18) it can be seen that
EMI0004.0159
A = (p and is to be equated. Thus for p2:
EMI0004.0162
EMI0004.0163
EMI0005.0001
This reads Formula 18):
EMI0005.0002
This is the output voltage from the adder 5.
It can be seen that the amplitude depends on the signal voltage. This amplitude modulation can be limited in a simple manner by a limiter 6 so that the first factor in formula 23) is limited to A 1. In the argument 0 arctg
EMI0005.0017
is interpreted cp, i.e. H.
cp = arctg
EMI0005.0021
Thus, in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 4, the characteristic of the half-link quadruple 3 must be an arctangent function.
The design of the embodiment according to FIG. 5 does not go beyond the transmitter S shown in FIG. 1 as an active modulator. It is only intended to show that the modulated carrier wave can be decoupled at different branch points 16, 17 and 18.
If a clean oscillation is required on the transmission path, the standardized, frequency-modulated oscillation must be tapped at branch point 16, because the internal damping of the half-link quadruple 3 filters out harmonics in the blocking range. Its blocking attenuation is also desired to support the crosstalk attenuation in terms of amplitude between two adjacent transmission channels.
On the other hand, the desired modulated carrier wave according to equation 18 is present at branch point 17. The amplitude modulation can be limited by a second limiter 17a in the outgoing line.
In Fig. 6 a circuit diagram for a transmitter S according to FIG. 1 is shown. One recognizes the individual stages as follows: The amplifier 1 is essentially through the transistor Tr with the associated switching means, the resistors R1, R2 for generating the emitter or collector voltage, the resistor R3 and the capacitor C2 for decoupling the Schwin generation, as well as the resistors R4, R5 and R6 for generating the base voltage.
The phase shifter 2 is formed by the resonant circuit with the coil L1 and the capacitors C3 and C4. The half-member four-pole 3 is formed by a first filter circuit with the coil L2 and the capacitor C5 and a second filter circuit with the coil L3 and the capacitor C6. The voltage is decoupled to the adder 5 by means of a transformer at the coil L3 through the coil 4.
In this example, the multiplier 4 is a ring modulator with the transformers T1 and T2 and with the rectifier bridge G1. The phase-shifted carrier oscillation is fed in via the transformer T1, and the signal oscillation NF is fed in via the transformer T2.
Both transformers have a center tap on each of the windings feeding the rectifier bridge Gl, at which, as is known, the modulated carrier oscillation forced by multiplication is removed.
The addition element 5 does not need any switching means, since only slight phase distortions are to be expected as a result of low-resistance impedance adaptations and thus the oscillations can be brought together directly.
The limiter 6 is formed with two diodes Dl. And D2, which are connected in opposed parallel.
If, for example, a telephone connection is built on the basis of such a modulated system, dialing and call signs or their character sequences must also be transmitted in any case. Assuming that a frequency band between 300 Hz and 3400 Hz is used in today's telephone connections, a frequency outside this frequency band can be selected
which on the flank of the phase response of the network 3 results in a fixed phase deflection instead of the dynamic phase deflection of the oscillation, and which is preferably in the lower band between 0 and. 300 Hz or in the upper band between 3400 and 4000 Hz.
A corresponding standardized frequency modulation is then generated in the active modulator in conjunction with the semifinished quadrupole, whereby the input level A "(WZ) corresponds to the WZ option according to <B> 9 </B>
EMI0005.0114
defines the position of the optional transmission frequency S2 (WZ).
In Fig. 6, the coupling of a dial WZ is provided. It takes place in a simple manner via the adjustable resistor R7 on the center tap of the modulator transformer T1. Since these WZ options are modulated, transmitted and demodulated as direct current in exactly the same way as alternating current, it is possible to
to transmit the voting symbols simultaneously with the signals due to zero frequency selection. FIG. 7 shows the receiver E from FIG. 1, in which the same means are used and to which a decoupling of the dialing and calling characters is connected on the low-frequency side.
The transmitted normalized, frequency-modulated oscillation appears at the pair of clamps 19 and reaches two branches. In one branch is the phase shifter 10 with the capacitors C5 and C6 and the coil L6. The half-link quadrupole 9 with the capacitors C7 and C8 and the coil L7 is located in the second branch.
The multiplier 11 is also here a ring modulator with two transformers T3 and T4 and the rectifier bridge G1. The oscillation from the first branch, i.e. the oscillation with the fixed phase measure, is fed in at transformer T4 and the oscillation from the second branch at transformer T3.
A low-pass filter with capacitors C9 and C10 and coil L8 is connected to the tapping points of the ring modulator with the interposition of an amplifier, which is represented by the transistor TrV. In the line of the low-pass filter, a relay coil Re fed by the transistor TrV is connected with a parallel-connected diode D3, through which the selection characters WZ are passed.
The relay contact Rek outputs a certain potential, in the case shown, ground, as the WZ option at the output 21. The channel for the dialing and call signs is exhausted by this coupling and decoupling described.
One of the greatest advantages of this type of transmission is that during demodulation in the transmission band, only the vibrations formed by the corresponding networks are demodulated.
An oscillation whose normalized frequency SZ lies outside this band, which is limited by -f- Q and - SZ, is demodulated not as an oscillation, but as a direct current, at least not in such a way that a well-known understandable or incomprehensible crosstalk could take place.
This mentioned advantage is particularly important for use in carrier telephony, since several bands can be transmitted next to each other in the transmission band of a wire without a channel filter. Another advantage is the frequency constancy of the active modulator, which can be as low as possible since the transmitted band is based solely on a frequency standardized by the two identical phase-generating networks.
