Device for displaying a torque transmitted by a rotating shaft
Devices for displaying a torque effective in a rotating shaft have a very wide field of application. In the following, some application cases are mentioned, deliberately omitting the completeness of the list.
One area of application are the so-called multiple drives. In these, a machine is driven by several simultaneously acting partial drives for reasons of space or with consideration of structural conditions, with the drive power to be fed and thus the torque being distributed evenly or according to a predetermined gradation between the partial drives. In order to be able to monitor the correct power gradation, it is necessary to measure the speed and torque of the individual drive sources.
In the case of several machines connected in series, but individually driven, which process a strand or belt-shaped product that runs through the individual machines and therefore couples them with one another, the working speeds of the machines connected in series must be coordinated with one another because the goods passing through these machines either have the same speed in all machines or but as a result of stretching or shrinking during the machining process in the successive machines has certain, graduated speeds. In general, it is required that a certain, mostly constant pull is exerted on the goods passing through these machines. This is why the drive speeds on the machine connected in series, and thus also the drive torques, must be precisely matched to one another.
The same problem arises with the multiple drive of conveyor belts, circular conveyors and similar devices. Here the endless conveyor belt or the conveyor chain is driven at different points so that the tensile forces required for the further movement of the conveyor can be kept small. Here, too, the conveying means must be driven with matching drive speeds and, for the purpose of uniform loading of the drives and the sections of the conveying means, with drive torques that are matched to one another.
As a further application, agitator drives are selected, in which one strives for constant performance for economic reasons.
The torque required for the drive increases steeply with the stirring speed and is still dependent on the viscosity of the material being stirred. For reasons of application, however, the drive torque must not exceed a certain amount, which results in the requirement for constant measurement and monitoring.
All of the above-mentioned examples of application have in common that the torque of the individual drives must be continuously and precisely monitored or registered, but that devices must be available for these applications that meet the requirements of an industrial company in terms of operational safety, robustness and value for money.
Various display devices are available for measuring the effective torque in a rotating shaft.
It is known to suspend a drive machine in a pendulous manner so that the deviation from the normal position forced by the torque can be measured. The measurement of the force that is necessary to keep the oscillating drive machine in the normal position is based on the same principle; this force is also a measure of the torque effective in the drive shaft.
It is also known to electrically detect the torque of a measuring shaft, for example by means of strain gauges, the torsion of the measuring shaft causing a resistance or voltage change in the measuring strip as a measure of the torque.
Another possibility for recording the torque is to measure the power and speed of the drive machine and to display the torque directly with a composite instrument.
What all these devices have in common is that they are expensive and complicated and can therefore normally only be used in laboratory operations.
The present invention solves the problem of displaying or registering the torque transmitted by a rotating shaft with great accuracy in a structurally simple and reliable manner.
According to the invention, an axially displaceable element connected to it and transmitting the torque is arranged on the shaft for this purpose, on which a displacement force corresponding to the torque acts in the axial direction, and this displacement force is counteracted by an axial force dependent on the displacement path of the element , the size of which serves as a measure of the transmitted torque when in equilibrium with the displacement force.
The subject matter of the invention is shown schematically in the drawings using examples, namely showing:
Fig. 1 shows a display device in a gear drive with angled teeth,
2 shows a section according to II-II,
3 also shows a gear drive with helical teeth, in which the spring force is generated by corrugated tubes.
Fig. 4 shows an arrangement with curved sleeves arranged between two shafts.
FIG. 5 shows a view from V of FIG. 4.
Fig. 6 shows a device combined with a liquid level measuring tube and
7 shows a special embodiment of this measuring tube.
Fig. 8 shows a device in which the displacement force is generated hydraulically.
A gear 2 is arranged on a shaft in such a way that it can move axially on the shaft, but is non-rotatably connected to it by rolling elements 3. This gear 2 meshes with another gear 4, via which the torque load is introduced into the shaft 1 or is carried out from the shaft 1. As long as it does not transmit any circumferential force, the gear wheel 2 is caused by forces of the same size, oppositely directed, from two compression springs
5 held in a central position. The springs 5 are supported on the one hand on the gear 2 and on the other hand on pressure plates 6. The rolling elements 3 lie in grooves 7, 7 'of the gear 2 and the shaft 1 (Fig. 2). A groove 8 is provided along the circumference on the gear wheel 2, into which a button 9, which is connected to a display device 10, 11, engages.
The gears 2, 4 are helical (12).
When a peripheral force is transmitted through the gears 2, 4, depending on the direction of rotation, the gear 2 is axially shifted until the equilibrium between the axial force resulting from the circumferential force on the helical gear and the - now unequal - spring forces is restored. The axial displacement of this gear 2 is transmitted by the pushbutton 9 running in the groove 8 to the display device 10, 11 as a measure of the torque.
If the pair of wheels 2, 4 is toothed straight, the axial force can be produced in that the grooves 7, 7 'are not arranged parallel to the shaft, but in a helical manner. The circumferential force of the gears now causes a limited rotation corresponding to the magnitude of the torque and, at the same time, an axial displacement, ie. H. a helical movement of the gear 2 relative to the shaft, which in turn can be read directly via the button 9 and the display device 10, 11, the torque.
Instead of the compression spring 5 (FIG. 1), corrugated tubes 13 can also be used, as shown in FIG. 3. The corrugated tubes 13 form with the pressure plates 6 closed cavities 14 which are expediently filled with liquid and which are connected to one another via a compensation opening 15.
In this embodiment, too, a display device is provided, which is equipped with a dial gauge 16 in the example shown.
The circumferential force of the gears 2, 4 generates, as in the example according to FIG. 1, an axial component acting on the gear 2, which in turn is via a display device - e.g. B. Dial indicator 16 - is displayed. The damping fluid stored in the cavities 14 can only be exchanged slowly via the compensation opening 15, so that short torque surges do not cause any axial displacement of the gearwheel 2.
Instead of the compensating opening 15, an annular gap can be provided between the gear 2 and the shaft 1, which also only allows a slow exchange of the damping fluid located in the cavities 14. In this arrangement it is particularly favorable that the flow of the liquid reduces the friction forces counteracting a displacement.
In the further example according to FIG. 4, two shaft sections 18, 19 are provided, which are mutually guided by a central pin 17. A collar 20 terminating the shaft section 18 carries frontal incisions 21 in which rolling elements 22 are embedded, which we ken on the same incisions 23, which are arranged in a sleeve 24 which is axially displaceable but non-rotatably seated on the shaft section 19. The sleeve 24 is supported against a collar 26 by a compression spring 25. Opposite a disk 27 rotating with the sleeve 24 is a stationary disk 28 which is electrically connected to a capacitance measuring device 29.
A torque in any direction acting on the shaft sections 18, 19 causes the mutually opposite incisions 21/23 to rotate, as a result of which the rolling elements 22 are forced to run up the corresponding inclined surfaces. As a result, the sleeve 24 is axially displaced against the force of the compression spring 25, with the result that the rotating disk 27 moves away from the fixed disk 28. Since the change in the distance of the disks 27, 28 changes the dielectric of the capacitor formed by these disks (27, 28), the axial displacement can be used as a measure of the torque.
The display devices (8, 9, 10, 11/16/27, 28, 29) can of course be exchanged independently of the respective design according to FIGS. 1, 3 and 4, or for example a hydrostatic display device described below can be provided .
In FIG. 6, an optional display device is shown which displays the axial displacement with the aid of a graduated liquid level measuring tube. In this embodiment, the gear 2 is provided with an extension 30 which rotates a bearing 32 arranged on a transmission element 31 at the end. The bearing 32 is connected to a piston 33 which is non-rotatably but axially displaceably attached to the housing 35 by a pin 34. A membrane 36, which closes a cavity 37, is provided above the piston 33. A connecting line 38 connects to the cavity 37 and leads to a graduated liquid level measuring tube 39.
This liquid level measuring tube has a significantly smaller diameter than the cavity 37, so that a small axial displacement of the piston 33 causes a large change in length of the liquid column located in the liquid level measuring tube. The displacement of the piston 33 can again be brought about, as in the examples already described, by helical toothing of the gear pairs, by a thread or by cam sleeves. Furthermore, further mechanical transmission elements can be provided between the transmission element 31 and the bearing 32 or the piston 33; the connecting line 38 can also be of any length in order to achieve a display option that is independent of the position of the shaft 1.
Since the hydraulic display device 33 to
39 is already very strongly damped in itself, a further damping is given as in the example according to Fig. 3, generally not necessary, but if necessary, such a throttle hole between cavity 37 and liquid level measuring tube 39 or by appropriate cross-sectional or dimensioning the length of the connecting line 38 can be achieved easily. Of course, the components as shown in FIG. 3 can also be combined with the hydraulic display device 33 to 39 described.
In order to be able to take full advantage of the great accuracy that is given by the hydraulic display device described, it is advisable to insert fillers, for example as calibration rods 40, into the measuring tube 39, which determine the volume of the measuring tube 39 and thus the path translation between the measuring tube 39 and the cavity 37 change. This makes it possible to adapt the different axial deflection of the displaceable element to the maximum torque to be expected, or to compensate for the differences in the characteristics of the spring forces that are expected in series production.
The large travel ratio that can be achieved with this system makes it possible to display the height of the liquid column fluctuating in the measuring tube 39 by electrical means. For example, this can be done by a ferrometallic float 41 lying on the liquid column, which influences the inductance of a coil surrounding the liquid level measuring tube. The electrical values determined in this way can be fed to a display, registration or control device. This means that the display location is completely independent of the location of the torque measurement, which means, for example, that the various torques of partial drives can be recorded centrally.
8 shows a device in which the displacement force counteracting an axial displacement of the element is generated hydraulically.
Here, similar to that shown in FIG. 3, corrugated tubes 53 with pressure plates 56 form closed cavities 54, 54 'which are connected to a control slide 52 via shaft bores 50, 51 and supply lines 57, 58. The control slide 52 receives pressure oil via a gear pump 55 which is driven by a controllable motor 59. Throttle points 62, 63 are provided in the return lines 60, 61. A control valve 64 is used to set the maximum pressure. The control slide 52 is connected to the axially movable element 2 via a linkage 65 which engages in a guide flange 66. In the control slide 52, a double piston 78 is mounted in a longitudinally displaceable manner, via its
Piston rod 79 is articulated to lever 65.
In the control slide 52 there are each an annular groove at a distance between the two pistons 86 and 87 of the double piston 78
88 and 89 are provided, the width of which is slightly greater than the width of the pistons 86 and 87. The pressure oil introduced into the control slide 52 via the supply line 78 between the two pistons 86 and 87 can in the central position of the double piston 78 through annular gaps in the annular grooves 88 and 89 and also again through annular gaps into the adjoining parts of the control slide 52 and from there back through the return lines 60, 61 into the oil sump. From the annular groove 88, the line 57 leads via the shaft bore 50 to the cavity 54; the line 58 connects the cavity 54 ′ to the annular groove 89 via the shaft bore 51.
The mode of operation of the control device is as follows: Under the effect of the torque introduced or removed via the axially displaceable element 2, this axially displaceable element 2 is displaced to the left, for example.
The double piston 78 is thereby displaced in the same direction. The piston 87 with its control edge 98 throttles the access of the pressurized oil to the annular groove 89 and at the same time increases the size of the exit gap from the annular groove 89 with its control edge 99 so that the pressure in the space 54 'drops sharply. The control piston 86, on the other hand, with its control edge 100 increases the inlet cross-section for the pressurized oil into the annular groove 88 while at the same time reducing the outlet cross-section of the pressurized oil from the annular groove 88 through its control edge 101. As a result, an oil pressure builds up in the cavity 54, which is based on the axially displaceable Element 2 acts and brings its axial displacement to a standstill. This pressure corresponds to the force created by the torque introduced or removed via the axially displaceable element 2.
A pressure gauge 75 is connected between the supply lines 57 and 58 and measures the differential pressure between the cavities 54 and 54 '. This differential pressure is therefore an exact measure of the displacement force acting in the axial direction and thus at the same time a measure of the torque introduced into or removed from the shaft.
With this arrangement, any fluctuating oil pressure is eliminated, since only the pressure difference is measured. An adjustment to the expected torque can take place by regulating the drive motor 59 or adjusting the control valve 64, since this regulates the pressure of the hydraulic fluid and thus regulates the displacement force. When the pressure drops, the corrugated tubes 53 can absorb the possible axial displacement of the axially displaceable element 2, so that the axially displaceable element 2 cannot run into stationary gear parts, while the spring force exerted by the corrugated tubes 53 is normally Since the axially displaceable element 2 carries out only very small axial displacements, it does not affect the measurement.
Of course, the diameter 75 can also be replaced here by corresponding electrical devices, whereby it is also possible to centralize the torques determined at different points in one point.
