B. Polyäthylen, Polyisobutglen oder Polypropylen, Verwendung .als Isolierung für .elektrische Kabel und Leitungen. Dia diese Verbindungen;
Solche Mischungen sind aber infolge ihres pola rer; Aufbaus und der dadurch bedingten höheren Dielektrizitätskonstante sowie ides hohen Verlustwin- kels nicht für den Einsatz ;
!denn. als Zusatzstoff ein Kohllenwasserstoff mit den angegebenen Schmelz- und Siedepunkten zugesetzt ist, also ein;

High-voltage-resistant insulation for electrical cables and wires based on an olefin polymer. In recent times, olefin polymers such as.
B. polyethylene, polyisobutylene or polypropylene, use .als insulation for .electric cables and lines. Dia these connections;
However, if they have a relatively low long-term dielectric strength and a low glow resistance, they can only be used as insulation for cables and lines as long as the insulation does not need to be high-voltage resistant.
In itself it is known to be used as conductor insulation in the low voltage range. Add polyethylene chlorine or highly chlorinated organic compounds,
in order to reduce the burnability of polyethylene. Plates for switchboards or for the container walls of electrical devices have already been made from polyethylene, which is mixed with highly chlorinated organic compounds.
Such mixtures are more polar because of their polarity; Structure and the resulting higher dielectric constant as well as the high loss angle not for use;
suitable as high-voltage-resistant insulation of electrical cables, since, as is well known, high-voltage cables must have a low dielectric constant and a low loss angle "in this way, avoiding excessive heating of the cable and the
electrical losses of the cable are kept low.
The subject of the invention is now a high-voltage resistant insulation at room temperature for algal cables and lines on the basis of an olefin polymer which is solid at room temperature, such as in particular polyethylene,
which insulation is characterized in that the olefin polymer contains an amount of a hydrocarbon that is compatible with the same, at most 20 percent by weight, based on the olefin polymer,
with a melting point below 20 C and a boiling point above 120 C is added. This hydrocarbon can optionally have aromatic rings. For the invention it is essential that
that a mixture of olefin polymerizates that is solid at room temperature is used as high-voltage insulation for cables and lines, for example.
!because. A carbonic hydrogen with the specified melting and boiling points is added as an additive, ie a;
Additive that is liquid at room temperature. The proportion of the additionally introduced hydrocarbon is measured so that the finished mixture of olefin polymer and additive is also solid at room temperature,
as the cable insulation must not drip. The amount of hydrocarbon added depends on the compatibility of this hydrocarbon with the olefin polymer used as the basic material for the insulation and may therefore be used
do not exceed an upper limit determined by the compatibility. The amount of hydrocarbon added will therefore generally be between 5 and 10 percent by weight.
Examples of compounds added to the O'lefin polymers which are suitable for carrying out the inventive concept are paraffin oils with boiling points of 200 to 250 C.
As hydrocarbons which are substituted by aromatic rings are; the following examples are mentioned:

So that the aging IB:
stability is guaranteed, it is recommended (the mixture used as high-voltage-resistant insulation in:
known to add small amounts of a stabilizer to the additive. For example, compounds,;. i which bind copper in the form of chelates, such as
B (the addition product of salicylaldehyde and ethylenediamine. The addition of these stabilizers reduces the risk of heat aging, both during the manufacture of the cable and during operation.
The table below shows the long-term dielectric strength of a test line with 1 mm thick insulation at 50 Hz and 20 ° C. and the glow resistance of the insulation at 20 ° C., 20 kV and 50 Hz in a shotgun bath.
