Fig. 1 durch strichpunk- tierte Linien angedeutet.
in den Arbeitszustand (e l -Zustand') und wieder zurück in den Ruhezustand geschaltet worden ist. Die Zählein- richtung Z32 wird .dabei jeweils .dann um einen Zähl schritt weitergeschaltet, wenn die Kippschaltung S12 von der Leitung Sp her, d. h. zu Beginn der Abta- stung der folgenden Abtastspalte, in den Ruhezustand zurückgestellt wird;
Fig. 1) gelegenen Teil einer Abtastspalte enthaltenen Signalelementen entspricht.
Fig. 1) erstrecken.
Additional patent to main patent no. 383 658 Method and circuit arrangement for determining the position of characters, in particular those of call counters The main patent relates to a method for determining the position of characters scanned by a scanning device and to be automatically processed by a processing device,
in particular meter readings, such as call counter readings in telephone systems. Such term characters, z. B.
Letters or numbers can be found on forms, typewriter sheets, book pages, checks, receipts and the like. Like. Or be included on films or photographs. A processing of the characters can be that the characters are identified in order to control telecommunications or message processing devices, for example printing units, typewriters, as a function of these characters.
Punch card punching devices or calculating machines, with the help of suitable signals. The method according to claim I of the main patent has the features that by pre-scanning the image area containing the characters, each of which in its projection in the coordinate direction coinciding with the scanning direction and perpendicular to it forms a line with no interruption in a first step another area,
in which the respective character to be processed is located, then with the aid of external reference characters and in a second step a narrower area in which the character is located and a:
actual character area can be determined on the basis of the character itself and that in a main scanning process following the prescan only during. After scanning the character area containing the characters to be processed, the processing device outputs a processing result.
A further area in which the characters to be processed is located is understood to mean a sub-area ds of the image area captured by the scanning device in which only character areas belonging to one and the same line of text can occur, while a narrower area in which the each character to be processed is located, that part of a further area is understood in .dem a character area, d. H.
an area in which there is currently a character can occur. As external reference symbols for determining the further area in which the characters to be processed are located, the no characters-containing boundaries of a text field or just a line of characters or special brands can be used according to the method described in the main patent. The present invention relates to a special application of the method described in the main patent, namely the reading of Ge talk counters of telecommunications technology.
Such counters must be read at regular intervals. Such call counters are generally grouped together in counter fields. For the regular reading:
To speed up the counters contained in such a field, the procedure has already been to photograph such a field of, for example, 100 conversation counters, in order to at least reduce the time and personnel expenditure for the direct reading of the conversation counters .
The digits contained in the photographic image, which indicate the status of the individual call counters, must, however, continue to be evaluated by persons specially appointed for this purpose, with the image being transported step by step so that a call counter is visible in each case.
Methods for the automatic scanning and processing of characters are already known or have been proposed. During the scanning, the image area is to a certain extent divided into columns of surface elements; in the case of column-wise scanning, a signal element corresponding to the degree of brightness of the relevant surface element is generated.
A distinction is only made between two values, i.e. H. there are only two types of signal elements, which are referred to as signal value 0 and signal value 1 in the following. Of these signal values, the signal value 0 corresponds to the non-impingement and the signal value 1 corresponds to the impingement of the scanning point on a surface element whose degree of brightness corresponds to an element of a character to be processed.
The methods are based on the prerequisite that only the scanning signals generated by a scanning device when scanning a character are fed to a processing device. This requires knowledge of the exact position of the individual characters.
The invention described below now relates to a method for reading call counters. The method according to the invention is characterized in that when scanning the entire front panel of the relevant call counter and parts of the front panels of the adjoining call counters, the further area,
in which the digits to be processed are determined from the lateral limit and the upper limit of the front panel.
The method according to the invention offers the possibility of the left and the upper limit of the further area in very specific, the shape and size of the call counter corresponding from the left and the upper limit of the front plate of the call counter, which is a free space between the relevant front panel and the adjacent front panels to determine, and based on this also depending on the size of the call counter,
to set the lower and right boundaries of the wider area.
The invention is explained below with reference to the advantageous exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing. Fig. 1 shows first, for example, an excerpt from a film on which a field of call counters for telecommunications systems is recorded. This section represents an image area just captured by a scanning device, in which the front panel FP of a call counter just viewed is contained.
In addition to this front panel FP completely contained in the image area, the image area also includes parts of the front panels of the adjoining call counters, from which the front panel FP is separated by free spaces, such as the left space ZR1 and the upper space ZR2. These intermediate spaces therefore represent the boundary of the front panel FP.
The front panel FP of the conversation counter has a window F in which the digits to be processed, which indicate the count, are contained. The narrower area EB, in which in each case a digit to be processed, for example the digit 0, is contained, is indicated in FIG. 1 by dash-dotted lines.
The delimitation of the further area WB, in which the digits to be processed are located, is indicated by two horizontal broken lines, .d. From the delimitation of the front plate. H. is determined from the spaces ZR1 and ZR2.
It should be noted here that the original image does not necessarily have to be a film in which the digits to be processed stand out from their surroundings due to their degree of transparency; Instead, of course, an opaque original image can also be scanned in which the digits to be processed stand out from their surroundings due to their degree of remission.
In general, it should be assumed here that the numbers stand out from their surroundings due to their degree of brightness, whereby, as already mentioned, when scanning the individual surface elements, a distinction is only made between two values, namely whether a surface element is in its degree of brightness, d. H. in terms of its remission, degree or degree of transparency, corresponds to an element of a digit to be processed or not.
In the first case, a signal element 1 is emitted by the scanning device, in the latter case a signal element 0.
In Fig. 2 a circuit arrangement is shown, which tet the determination of the left lateral limita- tion of the considered front panel FP (Fig. 1) Gestat.
For this purpose, the sequence of two groups of adjacent scanning columns is determined, each of which has a number of signal elements exceeding a minimum number, which have one signal value (0) in the first group of scanning columns and the other signal value (1) in the second group of scanning columns ) own.
For this purpose, the blocking input of a blocking gate G01 and the one input of an and are to the scanning device A, which can be of a suitable type known from television technology or from the technology of character recognition and therefore does not need to be described further here. Gate G11 connected.
The other input of these two gates is connected to a central clock generator ZTG, which generates clock pulses which represent the limits of clock intervals in which the scanning device A emits a signal element. The two gates G01 and G1 1 serve to separate the signal elements 0 from the signal elements 1, , since the blocking gate GOl only when the signal element 0 is supplied and the AND gate G11 only when the signal element 1 is supplied and the clock pulses can be transmitted.
A counter Z21 is connected to the output of the blocking gate G01 and a counter Z1 1 to the output of the AND gate G1 1. The counting volume of these two counters is equal to a suitable part of the sum of the signal elements contained in a scanning column; with a number of, for example 128 signal elements per scanning column, the counting devices Z21 and Z11 may have the counting volume 80, for example.
These figures are the basis for further explanations. The counting devices can, like all other counting devices mentioned below, be constructed as binary counting chains with an arbitrarily adjustable counting volume. For this purpose, the inputs of an AND gate can be connected in a known manner to the individual stages of this binary counting chain, optionally via a switch.
This AND gate causes in the coincidence case, i. H. when the counting step selected with the aid of the switch is reached, the counting device is blocked so that further counting is prevented. At the same time, the counter can be reset.
At this point it should be added that the Gates bistable multivibrators and counters shown in Fig. 2 and the following figures only in symbolic form can be implemented in a known manner, such as the development reports from Siemens & Halske AG. Year 22, episode 2, pages 159 to 171, August 1959, or the communications technical reports Volume 14, 1959, pages 25 to 29. The implementation will therefore not be discussed further here.
In the circuit arrangement according to FIG. 2, the control input of a further counter Z41 is connected to the output of the counter Z21 and the control input of a further counter Z31 is connected to the output of the counter Z11. Furthermore, the reset input of the counter Z31 is connected to the output of the counter Z21 and, accordingly, the reset input of the counter Z41 is connected to the output of the counter Z11.
Each of the two counting devices Z31 and Z41 has a counting volume that is appropriate to the task of the two counting devices to determine the left limit of the front panel of the conversation counter with sufficient security against errors that may be contained in the scanned image and at the same time the left limit of the define further area in which the digits to be processed are located; the two counting devices can have the counting volume 4, for example.
The counter Z31 leads directly to one input of an AND gate G011; Between the counter Z41 and the other input of the AND gate G011, a latch S41 formed by a bistable trigger circuit is inserted. A memory S011 is connected to the output of the AND gate G011,
which, when activated, closes a switch VS1 connecting the scanning device A to the connecting line dl leading to the processing device.
The circuit arrangement according to FIG. 2 determines the left boundary of the front panel FP (in FIG. 1) in the following manner. In the course of the column-by-column scanning of the image area just captured by the scanning device (cf.
Fig. 1), the scanning process will also extend to those (the one running from top to bottom in Fig. 1) scanning columns that extend over the free space ZR1 (see. Fig. 1) between tween the front panel FP of the Ge just considered the call counter and the front panel of the call counter on the left.
This free space has a degree of remission or transparency that is contrary to that of the digits to be processed; in a film negative on which the digits displayed by the call counter appear dark or opaque, the free space between the water and the adjacent front panels, which is the boundary of the front plate, appears as light or transparent. The front panel itself has essentially the same remission or
The degree of transparency, like the digits to be processed, is dark or opaque, while the degree of remission or transparency of the window embedded in the front panel essentially corresponds to that of the free spaces representing the boundary of the front panel, i.e. is light or transparent . If a surface element is scanned, the degree of reflectance or transparency of which corresponds to that of a surface element of one of the digits to be processed, the scanning device emits a signal element.
This is the case when the scanning point strikes the front panel FP or one of the digits to be processed. When scanning a surface element whose degree of reflectance or transparency is contrary to that of the digits to be processed, the scanning device emits a signal element 0 in each case.
While the scanning point moves over the free space ZR1 representing the left boundary of the front panel FP, the scanning device emits signal elements 0 which correspond to the non-occurrence of the scanning point on a surface element of one of the digits to be processed. These 0 signal elements occur over several full scanning columns corresponding to the width of the free space ZR1.
They each have the effect that the blocking gate G01 is transferable when a clock pulse occurs, so that the counter Z21 is switched one step further by each 0 signal. After the scanning device A outputs a number of signal elements 0 that exceeds a certain minimum number (e.g. 80), the counter Z21 has reached the last counting step and then outputs a signal to the subsequent counter Z41.
At the beginning of the scanning of the next scanning column, the counter Z21 is reset to the initial state via a reset input from a line Sp, which gives a corresponding signal at each scanning column start in a manner not of further interest here. Such a signal can e.g.
B. can be derived from the transition of the scanning device A to the next scanning column. When scanning the next scanning columns extending over the free space ZR1, the process described is repeated in each case; the counting device Z41 counts these scanning columns. If the counting device Z41 has the last counting step, e.g.
B. the fourth counting step, it activates the intermediate memory S41, which in turn prepares the AND gate GOll at its one input for the coincidence case.
If then, in the course of the scanning of the image area, progressing from left to right, the scanning process extends to scanning gaps that extend across the front panel FP itself, then the processes described are repeated in a very analogous manner for the only 1-signal elements Letting and gate G11 and the counting devices Zll and Z31.
The counter Z31 counts those scanning columns which extend over the front panel FP and consequently have a minimum number (of, for example, 80) exceeding number of signal elements which, when the scanning point hits a level of optical reflectance or transparency, is to be processed Number corresponding surface element, d. H. to a dark or opaque surface element.
Has the Zähleinrich device Z31 the last counting step, z. B. the fourth counting step is reached, the coincidence case now occurs for the AND gate GOll and the memory S011 is activated. It causes the connection switch VS1, which connects the scanning device A to the connecting line dl leading to the processing device, to close.
It should be noted here that the processing device does not have to be connected directly to the connection line dl, that rather further connection switches, such as this, for. B. the circuit arrangement explained in more detail below according to Figure 3 shows, can be inserted.
The circuit arrangement according to FIG. 2 has thus achieved the determination of the left lateral boundary of the front panel FP (see FIG. 1), whereby the succession of two groups of successive scanning columns, each having a number of signal elements exceeding a minimum number of signal elements, respectively opposite signal values a sign of the presence of a correspondingly wide light zone (space ZR1)
and a dark zone (faceplate FP). Due to the width of the zones, which is determined by the number of scanning columns per group, there is considerable security that the transition from a scanning column with at least 80 signal elements 0 to a scanning column with at least 80 signal elements l actually deals with the left edge of the front panel FP to be determined.
If, on the other hand, the type of succession of two such groups described above is disturbed, the processes described will not be completed; rather, the cross connection of the counter Z21 with the reset input of the counter Z31 and vice versa of the counter Z11 with the reset input of the counter Z41 causes the counter Z31 or Z41 to be reset.
In this way it is achieved that the switch VS1 is actually only closed after the determination of the left limit of the front panel FP, the time of closing and, associated with it, the position of the left limit, of the further area WB, </ I > in that the characters to be processed can be made dependent on the counting volume of the counting device Z31 with respect to the left boundary of the front panel FP.
So it is up to you to put the left boundary of the wider area WB correspondingly close to the digits to be processed.
The connection switch VSL can remain closed for the duration of the scanning of the front panel FP (in. Fig. 1), which can optionally be determined by counting the scanning columns. At the beginning of the scanning of each image area, the buffer S41 and the memory S011 are then put back into the idle state from a line B, which, in a manner which is not of greater interest here, emits a corresponding signal at each image start.
The buffer store S41 can possibly also be reset beforehand after the connection switch VS1 has closed. 3 shows a circuit arrangement which, after the determination of the left limit, allows the determination of the upper limit of the front panel of the call counter under consideration.
For this purpose, the successive sequence of a certain number of scanning columns is determined, each of which has two successive sequences each having a minimum number of signal elements, one sequence only containing signal elements 0 and the other sequence containing only signal elements 1.
In the circuit arrangement according to FIG. 3, the blocking input of a blocking gate G02 and the one input of an AND gate G12 are connected to the connection line dl leading from the scanning device, which may be identical to the connection line d1 in the circuit arrangement according to FIG closed.
The respective other input of these at the gates is connected via a line T to the central clock generator (not shown in FIG. 3) (cf. FIG. 2), which generates the clock pulse which the limits of Clock intervals in which the scanning device (not shown in FIG. 3) emits a signal element.
The two gates G02 and G12 serve in a completely analogous manner to the corresponding gates in the circuit arrangement according to FIG. 2 to separate the 0 signal elements and the 1 signal elements. The blocking gate G02 is connected to a counter Z02 and the Urid gate G12 to a counter Z12 via a respective blocking gate SG02 or SG12 .
The counter Z02 is supplied with the signal elements 0, which correspond to the non-impingement of the scanning point on a surface element corresponding in its optical reflectance or transparency to an element of a digit to be processed; The counting device Z12 is supplied with the signal elements 1 corresponding to the impact of the scanning point on such a surface element.
At the output of the counting device Z02 corresponding to the full counting volume of 4, for example, one input of a bistable multivibrator S12 is closed; Its other input is connected to the output of the counter Z12 corresponding to the full counting volume of, for example, 64.
The blocking input is connected directly to the output of the flip-flop S12 and the other input of a blocking gate SG22 is connected via a buffer store S22; the locking gate emits a signal to a subsequent counter Z32 when the buffer S22 is in the working state, which it entered at the same time as the flip-flop S12 when a signal was sent from the counter Z02, and the flip-flop S12 is switched to the idle state by a signal given by the counter Z12.
The output of the counter Z32 leads via two buffers S32 and S42 to one input of an AND gate G42, the other input of which is connected to the central clock generator. The. AND gate G42 controls a fourth counting device Z42, the output of which in turn leads via a buffer store SZ2 to one input of an AND gate GT2 connected to its other input to the central clock generator.
Finally, a circulation counter ZE2 is connected to the AND gate GT2, by which a switch VS2 is controlled, which connects the connecting line d1 leading from the scanning device to the connecting line d 'leading to the processing device.
Furthermore, the buffer store S42, to which the one input of the AND gate G42 connected upstream of the fourth counting device Z42, is connected, has a reset input that is connected to the output of this fourth counting device Z42. The intermediate memory S32 controlled by the third counter Z32 also has a reset input which is connected to the output of the first counter Z02.
The circuit arrangement described above operates in such a way that the 0 signal elements arriving from the scanning device are each counted by the counter Z02 and the 1 signal elements are each counted by the counter Z12.
It should be noted here that these are those scanning signal elements which are obtained when scanning the scanning gaps running from top to bottom that already extend over the front panel FP between the free space ZR1 and the window F (see FIG. 1).
As can be seen from FIG. 1, a number of l signal elements corresponding to the low degree of reflectance or transparency of the upper, adjacent front panel will therefore initially arrive.
If the scanning point in a scanning column then overflows the free space ZR2 forming the upper limit of the front panel FP, the now 0 signal elements are emitted by the scanning device, which cause the counting device Z02 to reach the full counting capacity of for example 4 corresponding counting step is switched.
The counter Z02 emits a signal that reverses the bistable trigger circuit S12 from the idle state (0 state) to the working state (1 state). This in turn results in a reversal of the memory S22 from the <<0 state to the 1 state.
Following this, the scanning point i11 of a scanning column overflows the front panel FP, 1 signals being emitted by the scanning device.
These I signals cause the counting device Z12 to be switched to the counting step corresponding to the full counting capacity (for example 64), as a result of which the bistable multivibrator S12 returns to the 0 state. The locking gate SG22 is thus transferable; the blocking gate sends a signal to the counter Z32, which is incremented by one counting step.
Finally, the scanning point, the lower limit of the front panel, overflows, whereby the counting device Z02, which had already reset itself to the initial state via a mixer gate G2 described in more detail below, is controlled to the last counting step and again the memory S12 in controls the 1 state.
After the scanning of a scanning column has ended, the flip-flop S12 and the memory S22 are returned to the idle state by a line Sp, which, in a manner not of interest here, emits a corresponding signal at each scanning column start.
It should be noted here that, if necessary, in deviation from FIG. 3, the bistable multivibrator S12 can also control the counting device Z32 via a binary counter, the binary counter then emitting a signal to the subsequent counting device Z32 when the bistable Flip-flop S12 twice from the idle state (O state)
has been switched to the working state (e l state ') and back to the idle state. The counting device Z32 is then incremented by one counting step each time when the flip-flop S12 comes from the line Sp, ie. H. at the beginning of the scanning of the following scanning column, it is reset to the idle state;
At the same time, this also results in the resetting of the binary counting stage which was controlled into the working state during the preceding first resetting of the bistable multivibrator S12, this outputting the signal for the counting device.
The processes described are repeated when the subsequent scanning columns are scanned, the counting device Z32 being incremented each time by one counting step. The Zähleinrich device Z32 counts those scanning columns that extend over the upper limit of the front panel FP of the call counter under consideration and over the front panel itself. When: reaching the last, e.g.
B. of the eighth counting step, the counting device Z32 switches the memory S32 to the working state. If a group of 0 signals occurs in the following scanning column, as will be the case when the scanning point in this subsequent scanning column overflows the free space ZR2 representing the upper limit of the front panel FP, this has result,
that the memory S32 is switched back to the idle state directly from the counter Z02, the memory S42 being activated at the same time. becomes. This prepares the AND gate G42 at its one input for the coicide event, which occurs when the central clock generator ZTG connected to the other input of the gate emits a clock pulse via its line T.
With each of these clock pulses, the AND gate G42 outputs a signal to the counter Z42, which advances it by one counting step. The counter Z42 is used to determine the upper limit of the further area WB (cf.
Fig. 1), in which the digits to be processed lie, in relation to the upper limit of the front panel FP. The counting device Z42 begins, as I said, just with the counting process when the sampling point from runs over the upper limit of the front panel FP. After the counter has returned to its last counting step, for example the 32nd
Counting step may be, it ends the counting process once by resetting the intermediate memory S42 to the idle state and thus blocking the AND gate G42 for further clock pulses; on the other hand, it controls the intermediate memory SZ2 to the 1 state, which now prepares the AND gate GT2 at its one input for the coincidence case.
The next clock pulse emitted by the central clock generator ZTG via the line T therefore reaches the control input of the counting device ZE2, which is thereby switched on.
The counter ZE2, which from now on is incremented by one counting step by each clock pulse emitted by the central clock generator, has a counting capacity which corresponds to the number of signal elements contained in a sampling column, for example the counting capacity 128.
The connection switch VS2, which connects the connection line dl leading from the scanning device to the connection line d leading to the processing device, is controlled by the counting device ZE2 in such a way that the connection switch VS2 occurs whenever the counting device ZE2 reaches the first counting step has, is closed and then opened again,
when the counting device ZE2 has reached that counting step, for example the 64th counting step, which corresponds to the number of signal elements contained in the part of a scanning column located in the further area WB (cf. FIG. 1). To control the connection switch VS2 by the counter ZE2, a bistable multivibrator SS2 can be used, with the two inputs of which each time the counting steps mentioned, for example the 1st or 64th, are recorded.
Counting step,. Activated counting stages of the counting device ZE2 are connected via a coincidence gate not shown in detail in FIG.
As a result of the fact that a column-by-column scanning is carried out from top to bottom and that the number of signal elements per column is just 128, the result is that the counting device, which has a counting capacity of 128, counts when the upper limit of the further range WB is reached begins, has then fully counted when the scanning in the next column has reached immediately before the upper limit of the further area.
The counter ZE2 therefore causes the connection switch VS2 to be closed whenever the sampling point in a sampling column just exceeds the upper limit of the further area in which the digits to be processed are located, and the switch is then opened again, when a number of clock intervals have elapsed,
which is equal to the number of signal elements contained in the part of a scanning column located in the further area WB , in other words if: the scanning point exceeds the lower limit of the further area, the position of the lower Limitation with respect to the upper limit of the wider range by .the choice of a corresponding counting step of the counter ZE2, z.
B. the 64th counting step is set: If necessary, however, the resetting of the bistable trigger circuit SS2 and thus the opening of the connection switch VS2 can also be caused by the column start signal occurring on the line Sp. In this way, the connection switch VS2 is controlled until the scanning of the image area has ended.
At the beginning of the scanning of each image area, the counters Z32, Z42 and ZE2 as well as the buffer SZ2 are reset to the idle state by a line which, in a manner not of further interest here, emits a corresponding signal at each image start .
It has already been mentioned briefly above that the counting device Z02 resets itself automatically via a mixer G22 after reaching the counting step corresponding to the full counting volume of, for example, 4. For this purpose, the output of the mixing gate G22, one input of which is connected to the output of the counter Z02, is connected to the reset input of this counter. In addition, the blocking input of the blocking gate SG02 is connected to the output of the mixing gate G22 between the blocking gate G02 and the counting device Z02.
This blocking gate SG02 prevents a counting pulse from reaching the counter Z02 at the same time as a reset pulse. In an analogous manner, the output of the counter Z12 corresponding to the full counting volume of 64, for example, is connected to a mixing gate G32, the output of which is connected to the reset input of the counter Z12 and to the blocking input of the between the AND gate G12 and the counter device Z12 lying locking gate SG12: The mixing gates G22 and G32 also indicate with the output of the associated counter Z02 or
Z12 connected input still further inputs. One input is connected to a line Sp which, at each start of the scanning column, emits a signal which causes the counters Z02 and Z12 to be reset.
Finally, the last input of the mixing gate G32 is connected to the output of the counter Z02 corresponding to the full counting volume of, for example 4, so that the counter Z12 is always reset to the initial state if, during the scanning of a scanning column, a series of 1 signals that correspond to the impingement of the scanning point on a dark or opaque surface element, through a corresponding number of z.
B. 4 0 signals is interrupted, which correspond to the impact of the scanning point on a bright or transparent surface element. Conversely, however, a reset of the Zählein direction Z02 is also effected when the 0 signals by a certain number of z. B. l signals is interrupted. For this purpose, the last input of the mixing gate G22 is not connected to the output of the counter Z12 corresponding to the full counting volume of 64, for example, but to a further output of this counter that has an earlier counting step, e.g. B. corresponds to the 4th counting step.
In the above it has been described in which way the further area in which the .angeord designated call counter is displayed by a call counter in a field of call counters to determine the position of scanned by a scanning device and to be processed by a processing device digits to be processed are determined from the side limit and the upper limit of the front panel of the call counter in question.
To determine the narrower area in which the respective digit to be processed lies, the procedure can be that first the left edge of the window F contained in the front panel FP (cf. FIG. 1) is determined, and that starting from this the narrower Be rich, in which a digit to be processed lies, is determined in each case by counting a certain number of scanning columns, which corresponds to the width and the mutual spacing of the digits.
To determine the left edge of the window F, the fact that the window F has a degree of brightness that is contrary to the degree of brightness of the front panel FP can be used.
A circuit arrangement suitable for this is shown in FIG. In this circuit arrangement, an inverter NG is connected to the connecting line leading from the connecting switch VS2 of the circuit arrangement according to FIG. 3 to the processing device, which leads to the control input of the bistable Flip-flop SW leads.
To the activated in the working state, i. H. The output of the bistable multivibrator SW in the 1 state is connected to one input of an AND gate GSp; the other input of the AND gate is connected to a line Sp, which emits a 1 signal at the beginning of the scanning of a scanning column.
The output of the AND gate GSp leads to the control input of a counter ZSp. This counting device is used to count down a certain number of scanning columns to determine the narrower area in which one of the digits indicating the call count is located; it has a corresponding counting volume a of 64, for example.
via a line B, each of which starts with a picture. emits corresponding signal that z. B. can be derived from the transition of the scanning device A (FIG. 2) to the next image in each case, the bistable flip-flop SW is set to the idle state at the beginning of the scanning of an image area.
Scanning signals are not fed to the circuit arrangement according to FIG. 4 from the beginning of the scanning of an image area, but only when the switch VS2 (see FIG. 3) is closed, i.e. H. if a. Scanning process extends over the further Be rich in which the digits to be processed are located.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the circuit arrangement according to FIG. 4 is initially only supplied with 1 signals emitted by the scanning device when the front panel FP is scanned.
Only when the scanning point moves from top to bottom over the window F in the course of scanning progressing from left to right within a scanning column does the scanning device emit 0 signals. Such a 0 signal, which is inverted into an 1 signal by the inverter NG , switches the bistable trigger circuit SW from the idle state to the working state. The left edge of window F is thus determined.
The and gate GSp connected with its one input to the fourth output of the bistable flip-flop SW is also prepared for the coincidence, which always occurs when an l signal arrives from the line Sp, as is the case with one Sampling column start is the case.
In this case, the counting device ZSp is incremented by one counting step each time. The counter ZSp counts for the purpose of determining the right limit of the narrower Be rich in which a digit to be processed is located, from those scanning columns that extend over the window F (see. Fig. 1).
At the same time with the. narrower range; Scanning can. From a projection of the narrower area perpendicular to the scanning direction, the actual character area in which the relevant digit is located can be determined, during which the scanning device is connected to the processing device in the course of a main scanning process following the pre-scanning.
This is already described in the main patent.
The achievement of the limitation of the narrower range is shown in the circuit arrangement according to FIG. 4 in that first the output a-1 corresponding to the penultimate counting step and then after the output a the counter ZSp are activated. This activation can be used to control a program control unit, which can be provided to regulate the correct timing of the descriptive NEN and any subsequent processes. Such a subsequent process would be e.g.
B. the main scanning process following the prescan, which is used to determine the position of a digit, in order to be able to process this digit. However, this is not particularly shown in the figures, since this does not appear to be necessary for understanding the invention.
