Blow molding machine for thermoplastics
The present invention relates to a blow molding machine, i. H. a machine for the production of blown plastic objects. In such machines, a tube inserted into a mold in a semi-liquid state is blown into an object. The hose is usually produced in a screw press or in a hydraulic press. The shape itself can be done in two ways. It can either be stationary and the tube is formed intermittently, or it can be movable, in which case a series of molds can then be moved successively past a blow head from which the tube emerges continuously. The present invention is concerned with machines in which tubing is intermittent.
The conventional blow molding machines with screw or piston presses are suitable for processing various thermoplastic synthetic resins.
However, they cannot be used to shape thermally unstable synthetic resins, in particular non-plasticizing vinyl resins. In the known blow molding machines with a screw press, the latter is arranged horizontally. Due to the effect of gravity on the squeezed hose, however, it is necessary to squeeze it vertically downwards. This means that the semi-liquid plastic is fed from the screw to the mold via a bend or pipe bend.
This causes obstruction and turbulence in the flow, which results in the decomposition of the vinyl compound. Conventional piston presses, in turn, allow the heated vinyl compound to remain undisturbed for too long, so that decomposition begins.
As a result of these difficulties, the need for plastic bottles and containers with good impermeability to edible oils, and which are also able to preserve the aroma of wine or other beverages, could largely not be satisfied because non-plasticizing PVC is the only thermoplastic material. which has the required properties and which is cheap enough for this purpose and because the known blow molding machines are unsuitable for continuous operation with vinyl resins which have the properties required for the packaging of food because of the above-mentioned deficiencies.
The purpose of the invention is to provide a blow molding machine which is capable of e.g. B. to produce non-plasticized vinyl bottles and containers at high speed, avoiding the disadvantages of conventional blow molding machines mentioned.
The blow molding machine according to the invention for plastic is accordingly characterized in that the loading device of the mold comprises a conveying and pressing screw which is movable to and fro along a vertical axis in a cylinder and which is arranged coaxially to a blow head which is arranged at the lower end of the cylinder and which thermoplastic plastic down in a mold arranged vertically below it, and that means are provided to move the screw against the blow head for execution of a pressing stroke forward and to rotate this screw and at the same time withdraw it from the blow head to close the cylinder again charge.
In this way the viscosity of the synthetic resin mixture prior to blowing is reduced due to the shearing action of the screw on the fresh batch. Accordingly, the same can be blown at a lower temperature with the same blowing pressure, which reduces the risk of decomposition.
Furthermore, the path of the mixture into the mold is straight, which further reduces the risk of decomposition.
It has been found to be useful to feed the raw material through a horizontal screw conveyor that works in a nozzle which opens into the upper end of the cylinder, which in turn receives the screw that presses the hose out of the blow head.
The drawing shows two exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention, namely:
1 shows a partially schematic longitudinal section through a first embodiment of a press of a blow molding machine with stationary molds and
2 shows a similar longitudinal section through a slightly modified embodiment of the pressing device, with individual parts of the machine also being shown in greater detail.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the material to be processed is located in a funnel 1 which, at its lower end, receives a horizontal screw conveyor 2 which is driven by a drive motor 3. The screw conveyor 2 works in a nozzle 4, the outlet end of which opens into the upper end of a vertical press cylinder or pipe 5.
Inside the cylinder 5, a screw conveyor and press screw 6 works, the threads 7 of which lie snugly against the inner wall of the cylinder in such a way that molten material cannot leak between these threads and the cylinder wall. The diameter of the shaft 8 of the screw 6 increases from the inlet to the outlet end, which results in a compression ratio that is necessary to completely soften, convey and compress the thermoplastic material. The shaft 8 is coupled at its upper end to a schematically indicated electric or hydraulic drive motor 9. The latter can be moved up and down in the vertical direction by means of a pair of rigidly interconnected, single-acting hydraulic pistons 10, 11 which work in opposing coaxial cylinders 12, 13.
The piston 10 serves to push the motor 9 and the screw conveyor 6 downwards during the pressing stroke of the latter, while the piston 11 pulls the entire assembly back upwards during the subsequent backward stroke.
The strokes of the two pistons 10, 11 are controlled automatically, e.g. B. by means of limit switches or valves, which are indicated schematically with 14, 15 and which can be adjusted by a rocker arm 16 arranged on the common piston rod 17 connecting the two pistons. These limit switches or valves 14, 15 also serve to control the motors 3, 9, both of which rotate during the upward stroke of the screw 6, so that new material is introduced from the hopper 1 into the upper end of the press cylinder 5 and down through the latter is promoted. The arrangement is such that the screws 2 and 6 convey the material as they rotate downwards into the lower end of the cylinder 5, while the screw conveyor 6 and the motor 9 perform their upward stroke. During the pressing stroke, the screw conveyor remains at rest.
The press screw 6 may or may not rotate during the press stroke, depending on the weight of the material to be processed or taking into account other considerations, such as e.g. B. the viscosity of the melt. During the pressing stroke, the screw 6 acts as a pressing piston.
At the lower end of the cylinder 5, a conventional blow head 18 is attached, which contains the usual mold 19 and the core 20 in order to form the tube, not shown. Both the cylinder 5 and the die 18 are surrounded by heaters 21 in order to keep the pressed material in a molten state before and during its passage through the mold 19. Plates 22 shown schematically hold and move the molded parts which are not shown in FIG. 1, but which can be seen in more detail in FIG.
The machine according to FIG. 2 in turn comprises, as in the embodiment according to FIG. 1, a funnel 1, a horizontal screw conveyor 2, which is driven by a motor 3 and works in a nozzle 4, a vertical cylinder 5, which is one through a Motor 9 contains driven screw press 6 and a blow head 18 which is seated at the lower end of the cylinder 5. The motor 9 is carried by a cross head 23 which can be displaced on guide rails 24. This cross head 23 is connected by a piston rod 25 to a hydraulic piston 26 which is guided in a double-acting cylinder 27. With this arrangement, the motor 9 and the press screw can be reciprocated in the vertical direction as desired.
The blow head 18 is located vertically above a mold device which comprises two mold parts 28 which are carried by the mold plates 22. These latter are connected to hydraulic pistons 29, which work in double-acting cylinders 30, so that the molded parts can be moved towards one another or away from one another as desired. The plates 22 are slidably guided on four rods 31. The two mold parts cooperate in such a way that they enclose a mold cavity which, with the exception of its bottom, is completely closed. This base has an opening through which an air line 32 enters, by means of which air can be blown in in order to blow the container to be produced in the mold.
The machine according to FIG. 2 works in the same way as that according to FIG. 1. The stroke of the piston 26 is controlled automatically, e.g. B. by means of a rocker arm, the limit switches or valves are actuated, which in turn serve to control the motors 3 and 9 in the manner described with reference to FIG. The mold is operated in a known manner in order to receive the hose emerging from the blow head 18 between the mold parts 28 and to blow the thermoplastic material into the shape of a container.
The constructions described result in a straight path for the molten press material through the cylinder 5 downwards and through the mold 19, while the not yet injected material is exposed to the shearing action of the latter during each upward stroke of the press screw 6, so that the material is more easily in plastic form can be held and maintained in a uniform mixture
The following dimensions of the main components are appropriate to produce about 100 containers of 510 g of unplasticized vinyl resin per hour.
Outside diameter of the threads of the screw conveyor 6 88.89 mm Length of the screw 6 1270 mm Stroke of the screw 6 up to 88.89 mm Maximum injection pressure up to 632 kg / cm2 Motor 9 to 12 HP Speed of the screw 6 15-100 rpm Motor of the pump for the cylinders
12, 13 or cylinder 27 to 15 HP power consumption of the heater 21 to 14 kW
Instead of raising and lowering the motor 9 with the press screw 6, the latter could also be coupled to the drive shaft of the motor by means of a key and keyway or by another coupling which enables displacement. A conventional thrust bearing is then provided, via which the movements of the piston rod 17 causing the upward and downward movement of the screw conveyor are transmitted.
Instead of the hopper 1 and the screw conveyor 2, any other means can be provided to feed the cylinder 5 material. Instead of the heater 21, a heating jacket for a liquid, gaseous or vaporous heating medium or any other suitable means can be provided in order to regulate the temperature of the material within the cylinder 5.
