Description
Cylinder cover for injection internal combustion engines The invention relates to a cylinder cover for valve-controlled injection internal combustion engines, which consists essentially of an upper and a lower base and a cylindrical outer wall connecting these and has within the same guides for valves and injection nozzle.
The demand for increasing medium pressures in high-speed internal combustion engines inevitably leads to an adaptation of the cylinder cover to the higher thermal and mechanical stress. With regard to the required higher strength, a cylinder cover base that is as strong as possible would be advisable, while the thermal load requires thin walls.
One has therefore already built cylinder covers with an intermediate base, some of which also have a nozzle and burner casing, whereby the cooling water is inevitably guided and a high water speed can be achieved on the Deckelbo. Such a ribbed design, however, has the disadvantage that the uneven expansion can cause stresses which in turn lead to cracks. In addition, the production of such cylinder covers is associated with casting difficulties.
In the case of a cylinder cover of the type mentioned at the outset, these deficiencies can be avoided according to the invention because the upper base facing away from the combustion chamber is designed in the manner of a spherical cap. This means that there is good support even for a thin lower cover base.
In connection with a cylindrical outer wall, the lower cover base can be designed with a decreasing wall thickness towards the outside. The thin-walled ring zone, in turn, creates a large water space, whereby each valve can be completely flushed with water. As a result of the missing intermediate floor and the superfluous burner jacket, the thermal expansion of the lid is also improved. At the same time a considerable weight saving is achieved.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing. The cylinder cover consists in a known manner from a floor facing the combustion chamber 1, the upper floor 2 and both floors connec Denden outer wall 3, which is preferably cylindrical and has tubular lugs 4 for the fastening screws. According to the invention, the upper base 2 is designed in the manner of a spherical cap, the radius of which is approximately 3/4 of the cylinder diameter.
The lower bottom 1 is formed from the middle with decreasing wall thickness and is provided at the transition to the outer wall with a water space 5, which ensures that the valves are flushed with cooling water on all sides. Centered is a surrounding the injection nozzle 6, the floors ge against each other supporting casing attached. The cooling water inlet is at 7 at the bottom, the drain at the top at B.
In addition, only the valve guides 10 are accommodated in the cooling water space 9, which, as indicated at 11, continue to limit the inlet and outlet channels.
