Apparatus protective against fire, heat, smoke, etc., intended to be worn by a person To allow man to carry out work in an environment made dangerous, in a fire for example, or in industry, it has already been imagined flame-resistant protective clothing resting directly on the wearer, but not having a sufficient air reserve, nor an air zone isolating the wearer.
Swiss patent No. 180168, of the proprietor, describes a protective device against heat, fire, smoke, gases, etc., which, by the rigid design of its upper part, has proved bulky and heavy. This device does not, for example, make it possible to grab a person for transport or to bend down easily.
In addition, it requires assistance to achieve the junction between its two parts. In addition, the storage and transport of this device is made difficult, it cannot be folded, its cost price being, moreover, quite high. Finally, a person surrounded by fire and smoke cannot escape, without danger, out of it, by abandoning his device because of the difficulties that he encounters in getting rid of it.
The object of the present invention is to obviate the aforementioned drawbacks by proposing a flexible apparatus, without joints, light, foldable, which may possibly, during action, be spontaneously reduced in its width and which can be coated without the help from someone.
The present invention therefore has as its object a protective device against fire, heat, smoke, etc., intended to be endorsed and worn, without assistance, by a person, characterized by the fact that it comprises a tubular envelope. , flexible, impermeable, incombustible, provided inside with pockets, closed at its upper part by a bottom and, at its lower part, by a part adapting to the wearer, said tubular casing being, in addition,
provided with two handles and at least one window and having carrying means allowing the user to support the device as well as means allowing him to adjust, himself, his own position relative to the wall , to adjust the lower part of the casing to its body and to open and close the windows and - to adjust the inclination of the appliance on its axis to make it narrower.
It is already specified that the upper part of the tubular casing can be surmounted by a metal plate for protection, for example against falling tiles or other objects and that the lower part can be adapted either to the user's waist in which case it makes a sort of skirt, or above the shoes so as to make a sort of skirt-pants.
The appended drawing illustrates, by way of example, a particular embodiment and a variant of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 shows the apparatus in section along the vertical plane I-I of FIG. 2.
Fig. 2 is a corresponding plan view. Fig. 3 shows, rear view, the carrying frame and the frame of the enclosure of the device.
Fig. 4 is a corresponding plan view. Fig. 5 a view of the variant of the apparatus described.
The apparatus according to fig. 1 to 4 comprises a vertical tubular veloppe 1 suspended from a hoop 4 provided with a diametral crosspiece 5. The tu bular envelope in incombustible fabric, asbestos canvas for example, is closed at its upper end by a bottom 2 made of the same material. The lower part, la, of the tubular casing 1 is rolled up inside the casing 1 and is fixed with the aid of a belt 14 at the waist of the user.
Part 1a then has a frustoconical shape provided with a belt or a slot having a slide closure. This part forms a sort of skirt around the user's legs.
The casing 1 has a flap lb extending beyond the roll-up of the part 1 / 1a. The tubular casing 1 presents "previously, -at the level of the eyes of the user, - at least _a window 3, the pane of which 3a can be recessed to -protect any impacts.
The casing 1 also has, laterally and towards the front, two large opposing elliptical openings 12 to the edges of which are applied two sleeves 11 ending in a glove: The sleeves are also made of non-combustible fabric.
To carry this device, it is equipped with a carrying armor 9 consisting of two brackets 16 hooking onto the shoulders of the user and connected to each other by an upper cross member 17 and a lower cross member. 18.
Each of these crosspieces presents an eye in which is threaded the vertical arm of a support 8 provided with a series of. holes (20) allowing the height to be adjusted in relation to the carrying frame. The lower cross member 18 comprises for this purpose an operating button 10 which makes it possible to extract a finger from the holes 20 against the action of a spring. This detail is not shown in the drawing. - The upper horizontal branch of the support 8 carries a bush 6 in which is engaged, so as to be able to slide,
the rod 5, which can be immobilized by means of a clamping screw 7.
Two tension cables 21, 21 'connect the hoop 4 to the carrying frame 9. By actuating these cables, the user can incline the hoop relative to the support 8, for example to facilitate the passage through a door. For this purpose, each cable is retained in the frame 9 using a spring clip 22, 22a, which allows the cable to slide only in the direction indicated by the arrow F, when the clamp is closed.
To tilt the hoop to the position shown in dotted lines in fig. 3, the user will loosen the clamp 22, and pull the cable 21 towards him, this naturally after having loosened the screw 7 which he will then reblock. This inclination of the hoop can also be achieved by any other suitable means.
One can also provide a cable 21b (fig. 1) fixed by one end to a point of the casing located on the front and the other end of which passes through a clamp -analogue to the one just mentioned, attached to the belt 14.
Fig: -5 represents -a variant in which the rolled-up .part is replaced by a frustoconical le skirt provided with a belt 14, a longitudinal slot 15 closed by a slider closure, and fixed by stitching or the like by its lower edge to the tubular casing 1. For the rest, this variant is identical to the example of -fig. 1 to 4.
As can be seen, the apparatus described allows the user a great deal of freedom of movement. This can adjust the casing in height (button 10), forwards and backwards (screws. 7) and tilt the hoop to reduce its transverse bulk (cable 21, 21 '). The volume of breathable air is considerable and allows the user to carry out fairly long work without interruption. Furthermore, Fusager's protection against heat is total and very effective given the distance between the user's body and the tubular casing.
23 is a valve connection for the admission of fresh air or oxygen. The stale air discharge valve is not shown. It can be provided in any suitable place where it can be operated by the user. In the absence of a valve, this can open window 3. Pockets for drugs, ice, oxygen bottles, etc., can take place inside. It is specified that one can provide a kind of entry provided with a closure in a favorable location of the envelope, entry which may be extended by a fireproof flounce.
It is further specified that the carrying means shown in the drawing embody one of the possible embodiments thereof and allow the wearer to adjust, without any assistance, his position with respect to the envelope, more easily. forward, further back, higher or lower, operations allowing it to approach more or less windows.
