Duplicating set composed of sheet-like elements for copying pictorial representations directly from the original sheet The present invention relates to a duplicating set composed of sheet-like elements for copying pictorial representations directly from the original sheet.
When making stencils for alcohol or other reproduction processes, it is often desirable to include pictorial or other illustrative material in the text in addition to a descriptive text that can be created directly on the stencil using a suitable transfer printing element or a typewriter ribbon - put. Until now this has been so difficult to achieve
that the use of pictorial representations in duplication was not encouraging. One of the difficulties was that the illustrations had to be done by hand, and few people had the artistic dexterity to draw freehand.
An alternative consisted in an attempt to trace a drawing through the original on a stencil, if possible, with a transfer printing element having to be used between the original and the stencil. This procedure is quite difficult, however, since it requires considerable skill to insert the image neatly and correctly in the corresponding text.
The subject of the patent is a duplication set composed of sheet-shaped elements for copying pictorial representations directly from the original sheet, this set being a flexible stencil sheet for the production of:
Reproduction copies and a flexible transfer sheet provided with a transferable overlay on the stencil sheet by applying pressure to the latter, which set is characterized in that the stencil sheet and the transfer sheet with its transferable covering, which two sheets lie on top of one another, are translucent ,
so that images can be generated on the stencil sheet by tracing through pictorial representations from an original sheet located under the duplication set by applying writing pressure.
It is advantageous if that side of the template on which writing pressure is exerted has a rough or matt surface finish so that the traced image can be seen on it when the pauses have been made with a pencil or one of their writing instruments. It is also advantageous if the stencil sheet also has a rough or matt surface finish on the side on which it will receive the transfer printing material soot. Despite this surface quality, however, the leaves should remain translucent.
An advantageous feature of the present invention is that the pause can be made from the original without it being impaired or mechanically stressed in any way. The breaks can also be made by an original that is so stiff or thick that a. localized pressure through. this could not be transmitted through.
The transfer coating on the translucent transfer printing medium according to the present invention can contain dye-forming materials if the stencil is used according to the spirit or another duplication process. So z.
B. the translucent transfer printing layer contain a component of a diazo dye which is essentially colorless and therefore translucent.
It can also. Translucent UmdTucküber- which contain an essentially colorless leuco color can be used. It is also possible, please include to use a coating that contains an adhesive, such as. B.
Wax, which is not sticky at normal temperatures, but when it comes into contact with a hectographic transfer sheet and the application of heat, it works in such a way that it absorbs the transfer printing material which forms the dye according to the image. The transfer overlay may also contain one substantially colorless component of a pair of complementary color-forming materials: which, when uncombined, are transparent.
An expedient embodiment of the present invention consists in that the translucent stencil and the translucent transfer sheet in the set according to the invention are separably connected to one another at one corner so that they cannot be shifted against one another, the translucent transfer layer of the image-receiving surface of the template sheet opposite is.
This sentence can then be placed as a whole on an original, which has a pictorial representation, which is to be reproduced and transferred to the print side of the stencil using a pencil or other writing device: blatbes.
The stencil sheet, the transfer sheet and the cover of the latter do not need to be transparent. According to the requirements of the present invention, it is sufficient if the sheets are translucent when they are in direct contact with one another and on the image-bearing original. In this way, the image can then be recognized through the two sheets and can therefore be traced through.
Embodiments of the present invention are described below with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 shows a schematic cross section through the sentence according to the invention and the original sheet, FIG. 2 shows a schematic cross section of a hectographic stencil which was generated by applying writing pressure to the above-mentioned arrangement, whereby the transfer sheet is separated from the stencil sheet,
3 shows a schematic cross section through the set according to the invention and the original sheet, the arrangement of the sheets being such that a mirror-inverted image is obtained, FIG. 4 shows a fragmentary view in which the transfer sheet and the stencil sheet according to the present invention on the Original and lies in the plane of the drawing.
1 shows a translucent transfer printing sheet 10 with its transfer printing layer 11, which is located above the translucent stencil sheet 12.
The original 13 with a pictorial representation on its surface 14, which is visible through the set of sheets on top of it and thus makes it possible to print an image 24 on the surface 20 according to Fig. 20 by applying pressure with a pencil or other writing implement .2 can be produced on the stencil sheet 12.
The image obtained is a direct one, i.e. H. one that can be read and placed on a gelatin plate for making copies in the well known manner.
However, if you have to work using the alcohol duplication process, you need a reversed image on the stencil. This is achieved by the arrangement according to FIG. 3 in such a way that the original printing sheet 10 lies over the original 13 with the upwardly directed transfer printing layer, over which the stencil 12 then comes directly to lie.
When pausing by Druckan application on the surface 22 of the stencil sheet 12, a mirror-inverted image is obtained in this way, which can then be used in a known manner in the alcohol reproduction process.
The writing surface 22 according to FIG. 3 and the writing surface 20 according to FIG. 1 are expediently designed in such a way, that is to say rough or matt, that the traced image is recorded on it when the pause is made with a writing implement.
Up until now it has been difficult to produce an image on a stencil "by first writing on the stencil with the typewriter and then transferring a pictorial representation to a desired area. This procedure is now greatly facilitated according to the present invention by the transfer sheet 10, its coating 11 and: the stencil sheet 12 are translucent.
As a result, anyone with average skill can make such typewritten copies which can then be provided with pictorial representations, which latter can be easily traced from the original onto the same stencil sheet. The whole process does not require any special skill.
The translucent transfer printing material can be applied to the reverse side of the translucent transfer printing sheet by conventional solvent coating methods, namely by brushing, rolling or squeegeeing. This topping compound should at least be so translucent or transparent that an original image can be perceived through the compound without difficulty under normal lighting conditions.
Inert materials such as clay or pigments and other such filler materials, as they are usually used to improve the coating properties, should either be omitted entirely or only be present in traces.
Parchment, variously treated translucent papers, glass skin, vinyl films, polyethylene terephthalate, cellulosic films, namely cellophane (registered trademark), cellulose acetate and ethyl cellulose films, and polyvinylidene chloride films can be used as the translucent base material for the duplication set according to the invention.
The transfer printing material can contain one or more complementary dye formers which are also translucent.
The stencils produced according to the above-mentioned type with one or more color-forming bodies containing order printing sheet can be used in usual hectograph, ischen alcohol duplicating machines. The copy sheets can be wetted with a fountain solution that contains a complementary color former.
Corresponding active reagents can also be used which react with the chemical reagents which are present in the stencil or on the copy sheet, the corresponding dye being produced on the copy sheet.
The copy sheet wetted with the special wiping liquid is then: brought into contact with the formed part of the stencil sheet in order to Dissolve part of the image-forming reagent which then adheres to the copy sheet.
An instantaneous development of the image then takes place on the copy sheet thanks to the presence of moisture from the wiping liquid and / or the coating. When an iron salt such as ferric chloride is used as one of the reagents that is reacted with gallic acid as an image generator, a blue-black image is produced which becomes blacker as it ages.
It is not absolutely necessary that the coating be on the transfer sheet. Contains image formers as such. Instead, the overprinting can contain an adhesive such as wax, which is not sticky at normal temperatures, but which can be heated when the overprint is applied to the stencil
then the tacky image is brought into contact with a dye-bearing or color-forming coating on a hectographic order printing sheet. The overlay on the latter then sticks to the sticky overlay, which creates the multiplication image on the stencil. Instead of bringing the stencil with the sticky image into contact with a hectographic charcoal paper, the sticky image can also be dusted with powders,
the dyes or dye formers contain.
The transfer cover is preferably of the type which changes by applying pressure, e.g. B. blow, essentially completely separates from the sheet and transferred to the template; becomes. It goes without saying that numerous waxy and oily materials well known in the specialist world can be used for the transfer coating, provided that they are translucent.
For this purpose, substances such as paraffin wax, carnauba wax, spermaceti wax, beeswax, polyethylene glycol and numerous other higher alcohols from solid waxes and resins can be used, which are known to the expert for the present application.
It is evident from the above description that a mask sheet produced according to the present invention can be used immediately after its production for the reproduction of copies which correspond exactly to the original.
In view of the ease of use of the duplicating set according to the invention and the low material costs and the fact that the original is neither damaged nor impaired in any other way, the stencil can simply be thrown away after use, if desired, as there are further stencils can easily be restored using the original.
When using a sentence according to the present invention, a pictorial representation can be made on the template, which is partially traced through and; partially freehand drawn. In any. In this case, thanks to the shining through, it is possible that the inscription can draw in the graphic representation exactly at the desired location.
The term, translucent, as used in this description, is intended to mean that one can see relatively clearly images of an underlying original through the sheets and coatings in question, provided that those above the original Leaves and layers are in close or immediate contact with it.
