Electromagnetic Relay The invention relates to electromagnetic relays. Its purpose is to create a relay consisting of simple individual parts, which is characterized by a simple structure that makes the relay particularly suitable for automatic production.
This purpose is achieved in that at least one pin-like core, which simultaneously serves as an electrical and magnetic conductor, is inserted into a plate and is perpendicular to the plate, and that the relay is assigned an armature which also serves as an electrical conductor and which makes contact with at least one core of the relay forms.
The mentioned, used to build the relay according to the Invention are un complicated, easy to manufacture components. The summary of the items makes the relay according to the Invention suitable in a particularly favorable manner for the intended purpose. The connection between tween the plate and at least one core can be made particularly advantageous simply in an automatic production process, because precise reference surfaces are available in the plate surfaces, to which the mutual position of the components can be related with great accuracy.
This also applies to the electrically conductive armature, due to its exact position to the core and to the plate at the same time the required Kontaktab stood in an automatic production process can be adjusted perfectly.
The anchor is expediently designed as a flat component. In be particularly advantageous for determining the anchor, this is arranged lying parallel to the plate in wesent union. A compact design for the relay is thus achieved at the same time. In the case of an armature lying essentially parallel to the plate, the core inserted into the plate is advantageously inserted into the plate in such a way that it does not or only slightly protrudes from the plate on the side on which the relay armature lies, which reduces the compact structure of the relay . further supported. The plate can be made of insulating material, for example ceramic.
However, it is particularly advantageous, especially for the manufacture of the relay, to use a metal plate. Such a plate is a very robust component that can be subjected to a relatively high level of stress in automatic production processes without losing the exact dimensional accuracy and defines the reference areas available in the surfaces for the construction of the relay with the greatest accuracy can be.
To fix the cores in the plate, plug-shaped bodies made of glass or materials with similar properties can be used. The cores can then be fastened with advantage using the so-called pressure glass melting technique. The connection between the plate and the core can thus be made gas-tight in a simple manner, which is advantageous for a more extensive construction of the relay, as will be explained in more detail later. When using a metal plate, the above-mentioned definition also has the advantage of perfect electrical isolation between the cores and the plate.
Furthermore, the fuses are very robust with the help of plug-shaped bodies made of glass or materials with similar properties. This has a particularly advantageous effect in the event of any stress on the assembled components during automatic production processes. It should be mentioned at this point that it is known per se to fix the cores of an electromagnetic relay in a pressure glass seal.
In one known arrangement, cores have been used in a sleeve using this technology. This sleeve is a component that can only be produced in a much more complex process than a plate used according to the invention. Furthermore, this sleeve does not offer the favorable reference surfaces given by the plate for the construction of the relay. In the known relay extensive Kontaktvorrich controlled by the armature lines are arranged, which require a large amount of space for the relay.
When fixing the cores in the plate with the aid of plug-shaped bodies made of glass or materials with similar properties, the cores are expediently designed to be widened at the end inserted into the plate. This simplifies production. In the case of the melts of the specified type, ring-shaped bodies made of glass are pushed onto the cores and encompass these in the area in which an opening in the plate is located. The connection between the components is then established by heating.
The widening ensures an exact position of the ring-shaped glass parts on the core and, on the other hand, has the advantage that no glass in the liquid state can run onto the free core end or the surface of the plate surrounding it and thus cause contamination that would have to be removed later especially because the free core end together with the armature forms a contact of the relay constructed according to the invention.
It has been more and more demanded that the anchor, in particular. if it is also used as an electrical conductor, it should be housed in a closed room. With the relay constructed according to the invention, such a closed space can now be created very simply by placing a cover on the plate which, together with the plate, closes the mentioned space for the anchor. The plate can, for example, be provided with raised edges on which a flat cover is placed.
Appropriately, however, the plate will be designed to be completely flat and the cover will be placed on the plate with the edges bent. The mentioned cover can be releasably connected to the plate ver. Advantageously, however, a fixed connection between the cover and the plate is chosen which can be produced automatically without difficulty, for example in such a way that, in the case of a metal plate, a metal cover is welded or soldered to the plate.
The connection of the cover to the plate is advantageously made hermetically sealed so that the armature can be accommodated in an evacuated space or a space filled with a protective gas. Such a hermetically sealed connection can be achieved without any effort by welding or soldering the cover and plate. On the cover can then be seen in a known manner before suction, which can be used to evacuate and fill the closed space with protective gas and then sealed.
In the case of such a relay, the cores must of course be guided through the plate in a gas-tight manner.
The cover can be provided with a flange-like approach running around, with which it rests on the edge zone of the plate. Such a design of the cover is particularly advantageous for welding the cover and plate, but also for soldering these two components together, because the two components rest securely on one another with relatively large areas. It is advisable to provide guides on the two components, in particular with a view to a connection between the cover and the plate that takes place in an automatic operation.
which determine their position to each other. Such a guide can be implemented in a simple manner in that the plate is provided in its edge zone with a circumferential recess in which the cover lies with its edge zone, for example with the flange mentioned.
The core surface cooperating with the armature is advantageously formed crowned. It is thus achieved that the expediently flat armature forms a practically constant, electrically precisely defined contact surface with the core, regardless of its angular position with respect to the core, without the need for adjustment work which makes the construction of the relay more expensive.
At least one magnetization winding for the relay can be placed on the side of the plate facing away from the armature of this exposed part of at least one core. This arrangement of the winding allows a very simple assembly of the relay with the winding, which can be carried out without difficulty in an automatic work process.
If several cores are inserted into the plate, they can be magnetically connected by a yoke plate running parallel to the plate. This yoke plate can be provided with holes in which the cores engage, whereby care must be taken for an electrical isolation of the components from one another.
In a very simple embodiment, the relay can only be built with a single core inserted into a metal plate, the armature making contact between the plate and the core. In an equally simple embodiment, in which a metal cover is used, the anchor can make contact between the cover and the single core which is inserted into the plate. A relay constructed as just described can be implemented with a very small space requirement, since no separate contact devices are required at all.
When the relay is designed with a hermetically sealed space for the armature, a great advantage is achieved that the closed space has only a single implementation, namely that for one core, and thus the number of points at which an un- tightness could occur, reduced to the smallest possible number.
The anchor is expediently supported by a spring. In the two simple embodiments of the relay according to the invention described last, an electrically conductive connection between the armature and the plate or cover can be produced in a simple manner by this spring, which is connected to the plate or cover in an electrically conductive manner, e.g. B. in that the spring is welded to the cover or plate.
If the anchor should make contact between the plate and the inserted core when there is only one core inserted into a metal plate, this can also be done in such a way that the anchor connects the core and plate in its tightened position by touching the two components . An electrical connection between the armature and the plate can of course also be made through the armature spring. If the anchor connects the plate and core directly, these components are expediently arranged in relation to one another in such a way that the core surface that is to be cooperated with the anchor and with which they surround the plate surface is in one plane.
This not only has advantages in the context discussed, but also with regard to the production of the relay, that is to say here, the connection between the core and the plate. The above-mentioned position of the core in the plate can be carried out in an automatic work process without difficulty using a flat stop against which the plate surface and core come to rest.
To achieve a double contact and thus to improve the contact, the armature can be formed from two independent adjacent parts that are preferably attached to approaches of a spring. For a precise determination of the rest position of the armature, an approach projecting into the closed space is expediently hen vorgese on the cover, on which the armature strikes in its rest position.
The retaining spring of the armature can, for example, be welded to such a cover. It should now be explained briefly on a relay equipped with such a cover, the particular advantages that make the relay according to the invention suitable to a particular extent for automatic production. An exact reference surface is available in the plate surface on which the cover rests. When the armature spring is welded to the cover, the armature rests against the mentioned shoulder of the cover. The spring can be used completely flat without tension who the.
There are then -so two components, on the one hand the plate with the inserted core, whose surface cooperating with the armature has an exact re relative position to the plate surface, for example, lies with this in a plane, and the cover with the anchor carried by it together connect to. When these two components are connected; the most important size of the relay, namely the core-armature distance, which is also the contact distance here, depends only on a single dimension, that is the distance between the cover part and the plate lying parallel to the plate.
This dimension can now, for example, when the cover is designed with bent-over edges that sit on the plate, maintained with very great accuracy in the design of the cover. When the two components mentioned are connected to one another, the core-armature distance is easily set with the required great accuracy.
The approach of the cover can be designed in a simple manner as an indentation of the same, the depth of which can be kept according to a predetermined amount with the greatest accuracy.
The approach can also be formed by a preferably gas-tight through the cover th electrically conductive pin, which offers the possibility of using this pin with the armature together as a break contact for the relay to ver. But you can also make the pin made of magnetically conductive material and use a cover made of non-magnetic material, such as brass. Here again there is the possibility of arranging a break contact and, moreover, the advantage that the armature, if at least one winding is placed on the mentioned pin, can also be controlled via this further winding.
When building a relay with only one core inserted into the plate, the conditions with regard to the flux guidance can be improved by arranging at least one flux guide piece running parallel to the part of the core carrying the excitation winding, which is magnetically connected to the plate by a yoke plate running parallel to the plate Core is connected.
The flux guide piece and yoke plate can be designed in one piece, for example also in the form of a pot surrounding the exciter winding. It has already been mentioned above that a yoke plate extending parallel to the plate can be provided with perforations which are pierced by the cores. The free core ends advantageously protrude through the recesses in the yoke plate in such a way that they can be used as contact connections.
You can bring the relay into connection for example by inserting it into holes in a printed circuit board with the scarf carried by this and at the same time attach the relay in the board by soldering the core ends to the circuit. The compact structure of the relay, which thus becomes very light, allows such a holder to be completely sufficient and thus makes its own fastening means normally provided on a relay superfluous.
If, in addition to the core used as an electrical and magnetic conductor and inserted into the plate, contact elements that work together with the armature and only serve as an electrical conductor are required, then these can advantageously be inserted into the same plate that carries the aforementioned core, deploy. Appropriately, such contact elements are inserted parallel to the core in the plate and formed in the same shape and length as the core.
A relay constructed in this way therefore has all the advantages in particular with regard to automatic production, as can be observed in a relay that only has cores serving as electrical and magnetic conductors at the same time. The position of the contact elements, since they are inserted into the same plate as the cores, can be related to the reference areas available in the plate surfaces in an automatic production process, just like that of the cores with great accuracy. The devices required for inserting the con tact elements can therefore be designed in the same way as those used for inserting the cores.
The relay constructed according to the invention is particularly advantageously suitable for combining with several relays of the same type to form a relay set. A relay set can be constructed so that the plates of all the relays in the set are combined to form a common plate while maintaining all the advantages that apply to the individual relay, in particular with regard to its production. This structure enables the creation of a relay set in a very compact, space-saving design.
Such a relay set can also be constructed in numerous arrangements. Thus, the cores of the various relays can be used in a large plate in any distribution, for example in several consecutive rows. But it is also possible to use the relay set in the form of the known relay strip, d. H. in an arrangement of several relays next to each other to build.
When using relays with closed spaces for the armature, which are formed by the cover placed on the plate, a further simplification in the structure of the relay set according to the invention can be achieved in that the cover of the relay of the relay set is at least one for a part of the relay common component are combined.
A further simplification is finally achieved by the fact that yoke plates which are assigned to the relays and run parallel to the plate and magnetically bind the cores are also combined in a common component for at least some of the relays of the relay set.
When using relays with a spring-loaded armature, the armature of at least some of the relays of the relay set can be mounted on a spring band common to them. Such a spring band can, for example, be provided with window-like cutouts, wherein approaches for fastening the anchor can be arranged on the webs separating the cutouts. The anchors are then located within the window-like cutouts of the spring band.
The number of items required to build the relay set can therefore be largely reduced, starting from the simple structure of the single relay, which leads to a not inconsiderable simplification of the manufacturing process.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the exemplary embodiments shown in the figures.
1 shows a sectional view of a relay according to the invention with only one core inserted into a plate and a cover that closes off a space for the armature placed on the plate, FIG. 2 shows an interior view of the cover, FIG essentially like the relay constructed according to FIG. 1 with a pin guided through the cover as a stop for the armature, FIG. 4 in section a relay according to the invention constructed with two cores, FIG. 5 in section a relay constructed according to the invention,
to which in addition to two cores serving as electrical and magnetic conductors, a contact element that only serves as an electrical conductor and cooperating with the armature is assigned, FIG 7 the section 1-I through the arrangement according to FIG. 6, FIG. 8 shows an interior view of a cover used for the relay set according to FIGS. 6 and 7.
In the arrangement of Fig. 1, a core 2 is inserted gas-tight in a metal plate 1 with the help of a plug-shaped Kör pers 3 made of glass or similar materials. The core is inserted into the plate in such a way that its upper end 4 lies in one plane with the upper surface of the plate. He mentioned end 4 of the core is convex. A cover 10 is placed on the plate, which is equipped with a flange-like projection 11 which is sensitive to the bent edge of the cover.
With this flange 11, the cover lies in a recess on the top of the plate at its edge zone. The exact position of the cover on the plate is determined by the flange 11 and this recess. The cover is made of metal and is hermetically sealed to the plate.
The armature assigned to the relay is labeled 13 . It is mounted on the last-mentioned component via a spring 12, which is welded on the one hand to the armature and on the other hand to the cover. The anchor is in the rest position shown on an embossing 14 of the lid, which is located above the Ker nes 2, on.
An excitation winding 6 is placed on the core 2. In connection with the coil, a yoke plate 7 is placed on the core, which is pierced by the core in a perforation. Running parallel to the core ver between yoke plate 7 and plate 1, a flux guide piece 8 is arranged.
When the winding 6 is energized, the armature 13 is attracted by the core 2 and comes to rest on its convex surface 4. It is thus a one hand to the core, on the other hand to the plate 1 or the cover 10 of the relay connected circuit closed because the armature is connected to the metal cover via the spring 12 electrically conductive a related party.
With a corresponding design of the relay, the armature is brought to rest not only on the surface 4 of the core, but also on the surface 5 of the plate, so that, in addition to the spring, there is also an electrical connection between the plate and the core directly via the electrically conductive armature 13 will be produced. When the excitation is switched off, the armature is returned to the rest position shown by the spring 12.
The surface of the armature that works together with the core and the corresponding core surface can be covered with a contact material made of noble metal, for example made of silver. The same applies to the surface 5 of the plate 1 and the anchor surface which may cooperate with it. The free end of the core 2 is inserted into a hole in an insulating plate 15 which carries a printed conductor 16.
By soldering the core to the conductor, for example using the wave soldering process, an electrically conductive connection is established between the core and the conductor. This connection also holds the relay in the plate 15.
The inside view of the cover shown in FIG. 2 shows that the armature 13 is made up of two independent parts lying next to one another, which are welded to lugs 17 and 18 of the armature spring 12. As already mentioned, the spring 12 is welded to the cover.
In the embodiment of FIG. 3 with the embodiment of FIG. 1 over matching parts of the relay shown there with the reference numerals used in Fig. 1 are seen ver. In this relay, a cover 35 made of non-magnetic metal is used, through which a magnetically conductive pin 9, located above the core 12, is guided in a gastight manner, for example soldered. In the rest position shown, the anchor rests on this pin 9. A winding 20 is placed on the pin. The armature 13 can thus also be controlled via the winding 20 in addition to the winding 6.
The core 22 is seen at its upper end inserted into the plate 36 with a widening 19 which, as already mentioned above, serves as a stop for the plug-shaped body 3, and prevents parts of the plug-shaped body made of glass during the melting process exit through the space between core 22 and plate 36.
The relay shown in Fig. 4 in section is equipped with two cores 23 and 24, which are set gas-tight with the help of a plug-shaped body 34 made of glass in a recess of a plate made of metal. At the core. 24 an armature 26, which simultaneously serves as an electrical conductor, is mounted via a spring 25. A cover 27 is placed on the plate 21 and has an indentation 28 on which the armature strikes in its rest position shown. The metal cover 17 is welded to the plate 21 in a hermetically sealed manner.
An excitation winding 29 is placed on the core 23. Following the winding, the cores 23 and 24 are magnetically connected to one another by a yoke plate 30. The cores pierce this yoke plate in appropriately arranged holes. The free ends of the cores are inserted into recesses of an insulating material plate 31, which is provided with printed Lei tern 32 and 33, with which the free core ends can be soldered.
In the game Ausführungsbei shown in Fig. 5, a contact element 38 is used in a plate 35 in addition to two cores 36. and 37, which serve as electrical and magnetic conductors, which only serve as an electrical conductor serves and cooperates with the anchor 39. This armature 39 is slightly V-shaped and is mounted tiltably on the central core 36 with the aid of a spring 40. The middle core carries the magnetization winding 41. With the help of a cover 42, a closed space for the armature is formed. The cores 36 and 37 are magnetically connected by a yoke plate 43.
The armature 39 is pressed onto the contact element 18 by the spring 40 when the relay is inoperative. As a result, a connection is established between the core 36 and the contact element 38. When the magnetizing winding 41 is excited, the armature is lifted off the contact element 38 and now establishes an electrical connection between the cores 36 and 37.
6 to 8 show a relay set built up from several relays according to the invention. In a metal plate 44, the cores of several relays are set perpendicular to the plate with the help of plug-shaped bodies 61 made of glass. A core 45 is assigned to each relay. A cover 46, which is hermetically sealed to the plate, is placed on the plate. A spring strip 47 is welded to the inside of the cover, which carries the armature of the relay. These anchors are composed of two parts 48 and 49 which are welded ver with lugs 50 and 51 of the spring band.
The welding points are denoted by 52 and 53. The connection points of the spring band with the cover are denoted by 54. The he mentioned approaches 50 and 51 of the spring band protrude into window-like cutouts 55 of the spring band 47 for the armature of all except the relay lying on the left in the Dar position. The Fe derband presses the anchor against the lugs 56 on the inside of the lid above the core surfaces cooperating with the anchors.
These approaches can e.g. B. also be designed as Einprägun gene or formed by pins passed through the cover.
Magnetizing windings 57 are pushed onto the cores. Following the magnetization windings, the cores are magnetically connected by a yoke plate 58 common to all relays of the relay set. This yoke plate is pierced by the cores in perforations so that no electrical connection is made between the cores. Running parallel to the cores 45, magnetically conductive webs 62 are inserted between the plates 44 and 58.
The free ends of the cores are inserted into an insulating plate 59, which is provided with printed cable runs 60, to which the cores can be closed by soldering.
When a magnetization winding is excited, a flux curve occurs as is indicated by arrows in the second relay from the left in FIG. 6. The armature is attracted by the core and creates an electrical connection between the core on the one hand and the cover or plate on the other hand by touching the core and the plate and via its return spring. A circuit is therefore closed that runs across the plate and the corresponding core.
The contact connection connected to the plate is common for all relays of the relay set.
When several cores are used for each individual relay, completely separate circuits can naturally be switched with the aid of the individual relays assigned to the relay set; in this case the plate 44 does not serve as an electrical conductor.
