Figur 1 einen induktiven Topfkreisstrahler im schematischen Längsschnitt ;
Figur 2 eine Ansich davon ;
Figur 3 einen kapazitiven Topfkreisstrahler im schematischen Längsschnitt ;
Decimeter wave stem radiator for medical treatment
The healing effect through heat, which is generated in the body by localized high-frequency radiation of greater wavelengths, is known. In many cases, these healing effects cannot be used in body cavity treatment because the previously known radiators for medical treatment are unsuitable for this area of application with regard to their size and dimensions.
In order to remedy this deficiency in the field of body cavity treatment, a new decimeter wave stem radiator for medical treatment by dielectric heating, consisting of a X / 4 long cup circle with a locally interrupted cylindrical outer conductor, is proposed, which is characterized by the fact that its radiating surface has a elongated outer conductor is formed, in which a large number of slots running transversely to its longitudinal axis are distributed over its cylindrical surface, the width and spacing of which are selected so that the external electric field around the radiator and its tip is practically evenly distributed.
The stem radiator can preferably work in the decimeter range of 400-500 MHz. The coupling of the pot circle to the generator can be chosen arbitrarily, but of course preferably so that the coupling to the body is so good that the largest possible part of the supplied high frequency is converted into heat without the radiator itself being excessively heated.
The drawing shows exemplary embodiments of the radiator according to the invention.
Show it :
FIG. 1 shows an inductive circular pot radiator in a schematic longitudinal section;
Figure 2 is a view thereof;
FIG. 3 shows a capacitive circular pot radiator in a schematic longitudinal section;
Figure 4 is a view of this.
The radiator is ultimately a cup circle on a coaxial basis, which is coupled to the medium to be heated via slots. Like every circle, this radiator contains both an inductance and a capacitance. In an inductively excited radiator according to Figures 1 and 2, the inductance consists not only of the outside of the inner conductor 1 and the inside of the outer conductor 2, both of which are connected via the coupling bracket 3, but also of the inductive portion of the slots 4 and the Slots on the outside of the outer conductor 2 connected in parallel. In addition, the space between the coupling bracket 3 and the front end 5 of the radiator may also be added.
However, this space also correspondingly influences the capacitance lying between the inner and outer conductors on the one hand, which on the other hand is changed again by the capacitance of the slots 4 and attenuated by their loss resistance.
As with any radiating structure, the slots 4 have a desirable radiation resistance and a harmful loss resistance. The latter causes throughput attenuation, which can be calculated approximately according to the known formula bk = 2.4 in decibels, where d is the wall thickness and r is half the slot width. It is therefore beneficial to choose the width of the slots large and the wall thickness small. With a wall thickness of 0.5 mm and a slot width of 4 mm there is a damping th; of about 2.4 - = 0.6 db. Experience
2 according to values below 1 db are no longer disturbing, i.e. H. the attenuation is then so small that there is no significant leakage current that heats the radiator.
The radiator is supposed to use the emitted high frequency heat in a corresponding medium such as muscle tissue, fat pads, etc. a. Generate, additional heat loss is only disturbing because body parts near the radiator can be overheated.
As a result, the radiator itself must remain cold, so that it is not possible to build a radiator according to the principle of the line dampened by slots or holes, but the radiator must always be a pot circle, which due to the existing radiation attenuation does not have the quality of a closed one Pot circle can have.
The excitation of this structure can be done by capacitive or inductive coupling. The term capacitive corresponds to its meaning, while in the case of inductive coupling it is not absolutely necessary to determine whether the circuit capacitance also takes on a coupling function. For larger diameter radiators, e.g. B. about 20 mm inside diameter of the outer conductor 2, the inductive coupling has proven better. As a result of the large surface area, the inductance is relatively large, so a smaller capacitance is required to achieve the resonance frequency, which in turn would not result in the necessary coupling.
According to this, with radiators with a smaller diameter, about 10 mm inside the outer conductor, a greater capacity is required due to the smaller inductances that form the smaller lateral surfaces. In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the entire cavity is filled up to about 7 mm in the center of the radiator by two brass blocks 6 and 7 which are 0.5 mm apart from the outer conductor, one (6) being galvanically attached to the inner conductor 1, that runs through both. To adjust the inner conductor with respect to the outer conductor, a screwable insulating piece 5 ′ is provided in the metallic front end 5.
It appears that the capacitance formed by the inner and outer jacket surface is predominantly circular capacitance; the spaces between the two blocks on the one hand and the block 7 and the metallic front end 5 on the other hand predominantly form the coupling elements, i.e. H. The reflection factor can be changed by axially shifting the block 7, although a frequency shift must be taken into account. The capacitance cannot be increased by making the distance between the two surfaces of the inner and outer conductors as small as desired; the throughput attenuation would increase too much, so that the space in the radiator tip could no longer be excited.
The radiation from the tip is needed to influence the entire field in such a way that the total radiation is distributed approximately evenly around the radiator.
Which coupling is used depends on the emitter diameter, with slot width, emitter length and number of slots playing a certain role in the dimensioning. With a good adjustment, a reflection factor of m = 0.95 can be achieved, the efficiency of the adjustment is therefore 99.5%.
The inductively coupled radiator according to FIGS. 1 and 2 is constructed in such a way that the coupling bracket 3 consists of the inner conductor 1, which at its ends just before the end of the slots 4 has a contact piece 8 which is feathered on two sides and cut out on the other two sides . The cutouts 9 are necessary so that the space remaining at the top is included in the excited circle and does not remain dead completely closed. Immediately in front of this contact piece, a correspondingly long piece 10, which forms the capacitance against the outer conductor 2, is placed on the inner conductor 1.
The radiator is about 7/4 long, the capacitance per unit length is about X / 10 with an inner diameter of the outer conductor 2 of), / 32. The width of the slots 4 is approximately 4.5 mm with a slot spacing of approximately 1.5 mm. A recording of the locus, which took place under load, showed a standing wave ratio of n = 0.95 at the target frequency.
The length of the slots in both exemplary embodiments extends over half the circumference of the cylindrical outer conductor and their position is offset by 120 to one another.
