Iron The invention relates to electrically heated irons, such as those used in particular in households, and is concerned with measures to improve thermal insulation and handling.
Irons of this type are known in various designs, but usually builds so that the soleplate is covered by a hood made of Me tall, to which the handle made of wood or plastic connects. The soleplate is heated by a heating resistor arranged in recesses,
and the ironing temperature, which is in question for each of the individual types of fabric, is usually set with the aid of a rotary knob arranged on the hood or on the handle, is regulated by a thermostat arranged under the hood. A control lamp indicates when the selected temperature has been reached.
Furthermore, ironing irons are known in which the disadvantageous heat radiation of the heating element provided in the soleplate to the parts above is reduced by cooling fins, so that the hood can be made in one piece with the handle of the iron.
The known irons are still made so that they can be placed in an upright position before or after ironing or during breaks. For this purpose, tabs are provided on the handle and hood rear wall and a lateral cable entry is provided on the handle. The latter is on the side on which it cannot bother right-handed people while ironing.
Attempts have already been made to set up an iron with cable entry at the side so that it can be used by both left and right-handers without having to call on a specialist by attaching a clamping device to the rear end of the handle,
in order to be able to discharge the line after the opposite side of its introduction. In doing so, however, the line then has to be bent by almost 180, which creates a kink that makes it prone to failure after a certain time.
The invention relates to the advantageous development of an iron with an electrically heated soleplate and a cover which is molded in one piece with a hollow handle that also serves as an installation housing,
on the front end face of the handle an actuating member for a temperature regulator mounted in the soleplate, which interacts with stalk means in the handle or in the rear handle root, is provided.
According to the invention, the actuating organ and the standing means are now formed from a roller-shaped, hollow, rotatably mounted button on the end face of the longitudinally split handle, which is firmly connected to a switching tube that runs inside the handle and is rotatably mounted in the handle root,
which carries a curved shard on its free earth, and by means of a vertically displaceable switch pin mounted vertically in the handle root through the hood, the upper end of which rests non-positively against the cam disc and its lower end presses on the movable setting contact of the temperature controller in such a way,
that the rotation of the control knob is transferred to the setting contact and changes the distance between the control contacts.
The cylindrical rotary knob expediently has a continuous axial recess into which the switching tube is screwed from the inside, the end of which has an internal thread that serves as a socket for a control lamp.
The end face of the rotary knob advantageously carries an adjustment scale in a known manner, and a nose formed on the end wall of the handle and extending over the length of the rotary knob serves as a setting mark.
This arrangement allows convenient operation of the actuator and easy Able sen its setting scale on the upright Ge advises. The z. B. arranged in the center of the actuator control lamp is visible from every location around the parked iron.
In addition, through this assignment of actuator and control lamp, the knowledge that control lamp and actuator of the temperature regulator are in a correlative functional relationship with one another is also realized constructively.
If cooling fins between the soleplate and hood are seen in the iron in a known manner, the thermal insulation caused by the slats allows the plastic hood to be produced. It is advantageously made of one piece of plastic with the lower handle shell of the handle, which is longitudinally divided in its transverse plane to accommodate the actuating and Stel'lorgane, while the upper, also made of plastic shell is approximately at right angles to the soleplate so that it is pulled around at the same time forms the back wall of the handle and hood.
The grip shells of the longitudinally divided hollow handle are advantageously connected in a form-fitting manner by attachments and recesses on the parting line in the area or in the immediate vicinity of the grip shells and beads supporting the rotary knob.
This not only achieves a secure, immovable connection between the two handle shells, but also creates a stable and durable bearing for the rotary knob influencing the temperature regulator on the face of the handle.
Further details and advantages will be described in the fol lowing an embodiment that is shown schematically in the drawing, namely Fig. 1 shows an iron in longitudinal section, Fig. 2 the head of the handle housing, drawn from Fig. 1, Fig. 3 a section through the iron along the line 1 / I in Fig. 1, Fig. 4, a section along the line II-11 in Fig. 1,
Fig. 5 is a section through the iron and the introduced electrical line along the line III-111 in Fig. 1 and Fig. 6 is a plan view of the soleplate of the Bü iron with a schematically illustrated arrangement of the heating resistor and thermostat.
The soleplate is labeled 1. It consists of a light metal alloy, preferably aluminum die-cast. In a known manner, it bears the electrical heating resistor 3 embedded in fireclay mass 2 in the arrangement shown in FIG.
The soleplate is covered by a roof-shaped hood 4 made of plastic. In order to keep the heat transfer from the soleplate to the hood through radiation and convection as low as possible, mirrored or polished aluminum cooling fins 5 are attached between both sides.
These lamellas are held with the help of spacer washers 6 at equal intervals, which should not be less than a millimeter, and are on a threaded bushing 8 provided with a flange 7 (Fig. 1 and 4) near the bow tip and two threaded bolts 9 ( Fig. 3) lined up at the other end and attached with these at a total of three points on the soleplate.
The heat conduction cross-section at these three points should be as small as possible.
The threaded bushing 8 is screwed into an eye 10 cast on the soleplate and each of the two inclined bolts 9 also into a cast eye 11, each with a pipe section 12 screwed onto both bolts with its collar 13 holding the lamella pack together at the rear end.
The individual lamellas, in this case six pieces, are clamped together in this way to form a package that is adapted to the outer shape of the stirrup sole 1 and the shape of the roof of the hood 4. They also have a roof shape near the temple tip, similar to the hood shape, but their pointed gable ends flatter as the width of the soleplate increases. The pointed roof shape of the slats at the tip of the bracket has the advantage that the bracket cannot easily slide between the slats. Your outer edges 14 are slightly bent towards the stirrup sole to stiffen.
In addition, the lamellae are slightly pulled through at their clamping points in order to provide a good contact surface for the spacer washers, in particular on the bolt 9 screwed obliquely into the soleplate.
The soleplate and lamellar stack covering the top cover 4 is with the lower shell 15 of the slightly inclined to the sole in its transverse plane longitudinally divided, consisting of two shells 15, 16 consisting of two shells 15, 16 existing hollow cylindrical frontally open handle from one piece: thermoplastic plastic.
The upper handle shell 16 is also injection-molded from a thermoplastic material and bil det at the same time the rear wall 17 of the hood or the handle. At the root 18 of the handle, the hood 4 continues into a wall 19 which closes off the hollow handle web at the bottom and is perforated several times, namely for the passage of the control organs of the temperature regulator (FIG. 1), the pipe pieces 12 (Fig. 3) and the electrical lines (Fig. 1 and 5),
the hood is attached to the soleplate at three points; At the top it is pushed onto the head of a countersunk screw 21 screwed into the threaded bushing 8 by means of an injection-molded dovetail groove 20 (Fig. 4), while at the opposite end it is on the punching disks at the pipe sections 12 between their collars 13, Diameter 54 and the screwed nuts 22 is set.
The upper handle shell 16 with rear wall 17 is suspended in a form-fitting manner with the aid of two lugs 23 molded onto the parting line in corresponding recesses 24 on the lower handle shell 15 (FIG. 2) and with the aid of a through the slightly angled rear wall 17, Screw 25 screwed into the wall 19 is firmly connected to the hood 4.
The handle is inclined about 14 to the sole and carries in its interior the standing means for the temperature controller 47 and on its open end face the cylindrical knob 26 for the temperature setting. This has an annular groove with which it is rotatably mounted between .zwei frontally formed bulges 27, 28 on the two handle shells. A compression spring 29 with ball 30 embedded in the button locks it into the individual switch positions.
This in turn can be adjusted with the help of the attached (not shown) scale on its end face 31 and the wedge-shaped reading mark 32 formed on the lower grip shell 15.
The rotary knob is firmly connected to a switch tube 34 rotatably gela gela inside the handle in an angle plate 33, which carries a cam 35 at a free end. The Winkelbl'ech is held with its foot 36 on the two pipe pieces 12 by the nuts 22 (FIG. 3).
The cam transmits the rotary movement of the rotary knob and switching tube to the switch pin 38 guided in the foot 36 of the angle plate in a bent from it Lap pen 37 and converts it into a vertical thrust movement.
The switching pin reaches through an opening 39 in the cover 19 of the hood and is coupled to the adjustment member 45, 46 of a bimetal switch 47 of a known type, which is arranged in the soleplate. The function of this switch is not part of the invention.
Both the lower and the upper handle shell each have a recess 48 (Fig. 1) in the kink points of their common parting line located on the two side walls of the handle, in which the laterally introduced anti-kink sleeve 49 with the line 50 is inserted (Fig. 5 ).
The grommet is shaped in such a way that it closes the unused recess opposite the line entry with a slug 56. The three-wire Lei device is connected to three angled terminal strips 51, 52, 53, which are fastened with screws 51 ', 52', 53 'on a joint between washers 54 on the pipe sections 12 with the nuts 22 fixed connecting bridge 55 (Fig. 3).
With this arrangement, it is also easily possible for the layman, after loosening the screw 25, to remove the upper handle shell with the rear wall 17, to remove the grommet with the line from the recess in the lower handle shell, to turn it by 180 and to insert it again without; thereby the wires of the line 50 are confused. In this way, the iron can also be set up quickly and easily for left-handers.
A central recess of the rotary knob 26 accommodates a socket 57 which is formed by the inserted ends of Lies Rohces 34. A control lamp 58 is screwed into it and switched into the circuit (not shown in detail) in such a way that it glows when the resistor is heated up.
When regulating the temperature down, the glowing indicator lamp means that the minimum temperature of the set level has been reached.
On the rear wall 17 three pronounced feet 59, 60 are attached at the greatest possible intervals, which are used in a known manner to place the iron vertically. The upper foot 59 sits at the transition from the handle root to the web, the other two feet 60 sit on the lower edge of the rear wall at the level of the lower edge of the hood. They ensure a high level of stability of the parked device, even on a soft surface, and at the same time support the wire wound around the hood.
The Mar kierungsnase 32 seated at the front end of the handle and the foot 59 seated at the top of the handle root are advantageously shaped so that they offer a counterhold to the hand both when moving the iron forwards and backwards.
The invention is not limited to the features of the described embodiment, it can also be implemented with other materials and in particular also with an iron with a closed handle who can easily be developed from FIG. 1 of the drawing.
