Collapsible seating The present invention relates to a collapsible seating, for. B. a camping armchair, with a backrest that is hinged to outwardly foldable side rests articulated on the feet, and with stops to avoid inward folding of the side rests.
In known seating furniture of this type bearing sleeves are attached to the upper free, round ends of the tubular feet, for. B. welded on. The free round ends of the tubular side rests are pivotably mounted in these cuffs outside the outer side boundary of the feet by means of bolts. The cuffs also have a collar extending upwards beyond the inner side limit of the feet, which forms the stop to prevent the side rests from folding inwards.
The round ends of the feet and side rests lying next to one another in the side planes have the disadvantage that the feet and the side rests lie on top of one another in the collapsed position, so that the thickness of the folded chair is relatively large. When opening the chair, there is also the risk of trapping your hand between the stop collar of the cuffs and the sides. The nuts screwed onto the hinge axes protrude beyond the outer side border both when the furniture is folded and when it is unfolded and thus pose a risk to clothes.
So that no dirt can penetrate into the round ends of the tubular feet and side rests, these ends must be plugged with pegs. The manufacture and attachment of the bearing sleeves designed as a stop complicate and also make the manufacture of seating furniture more expensive. The foldable furniture according to the invention is characterized in that the parts of the side rests and the feet that are hinged to one another are flattened and lie between the legs of the associated, bow-shaped stop.
This allows the seating furniture to be designed in such a way that the side rests in the folded state lie within the feet, ie in the plane of the latter, which results in a reduction in the thickness of the folded furniture. The bow-shaped stop reduces the risk of getting your fingers trapped.
In a special embodiment, if you crank two mutually articulated parts of the side rests and the feet in opposite, converging directions, you achieve that both the stop and the nuts screwed onto the hinge axis are completely within the outer side limit of the Furniture. If, in a special embodiment, the flattened parts form the compressed ends of the tubular side rests and feet, the hollow interior of the side rests and feet is closed to the outside and no dirt can penetrate the inside.
The stirrup-shaped stop can easily be produced by a bending process and can easily be slipped onto a bolt which passes through the flattened parts and forms the hinge axis of these parts. The drawing shows a camping armchair, for example an embodiment of the chair according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a three-dimensional representation of the seat furniture in the unfolded state.
Fig. 2 is a view of the broad side and Fig. 3 of the narrow side of the folded furniture.
Fig. 4 shows on a larger scale a joint place between a foot and a side rest in the unfolded state of this piece of furniture.
FIG. 5 is a left side view of the hinge point in FIG. 4.
FIG. 6 is a section along the line VI-VI of FIG. 4, and FIG. 7 is, on a larger scale than in FIGS. 1-3, a plan view of a section of the folded chair.
The folding furniture according to the drawing, designed as a camping armchair, is shown in FIG. 1 in the unfolded state of use. It has two U-shaped feet 1 that are articulated among themselves by axes 3. At the free ends of the U-shaped feet 1, two U-shaped side rests 5 are articulated by means of bolts 4. A tubular rod 6 of the backrest 7 is linked to each of the rear corners of the side rests 5. The backrest 7 is completed by a cloth B which connects the two rods 6 and is attached to them.
If you now want to fold the armchair with the seat cloth 12, so bring it into the state according to Fig.2 and 3, you first fold the backrest 7 forward (Fig. 1) on the horizontal bars of the side rests 5 down. The two feet 1 are then folded together by moving them around the axes 3 towards one another. Afterwards, the side rests 5 are folded outwards so that the backrest cloth 8 lies over the bolts 4 and holds the whole thing together in the folded state. The mutual position of the individual parts of the armchair in the folded state is illustrated in FIGS.
It can be seen in particular from Fig. 2 that the sides lean 5 lie in the folded state within the associated U-shaped foot 1, and Fig.3 shows that as a result of this fact, the thickness of the folded furniture is relatively small, in any case less as if, seen in Fig. 3, the side rests would lie next to the associated feet, as is the case with known collapsible furniture.
The joints between the feet 1 and the side rests 5 are designed as follows: As in particular Fig. 2 and 5 illustrate, the free ends of the legs of the tubular feet 1 and the tubular side rests 5 are pressed flat so that the inside of the feet or the side rests is closed to the outside and no dirt can penetrate the pipes.
These flattened parts 9 of the feet 1 and 10 of the side rests 5 are bent, d. H. relative to the axes of the legs of the feet 1 and the side rests 5 in opposite directions converging directions (Fig.5). The sum of the thicknesses of the touching flattened parts 9 and 10 is, as FIG. 5 shows, relatively small. The bolt 4 passes through holes in the flattened parts 9 and 10 as a hinge axis between a foot 1 and the associated side rest 5.
This bolt 4 goes through the entire depth of the furniture and therefore serves at the same time as the hinge axis of both ends of the same foot 1 and the associated side rest 5. A tube 11 is attached to the bolt 4 between the joints, to which the seat cloth 12 is attached . At each joint between the legs 1 and the side rests 5, a bow-shaped stop 13 is attached to the bolt 4. This bracket 13, the legs of which are slightly resilient to the outside, can be produced in a simple manner from a metal strip by a bending process.
The two plattgedrück th parts 9 and 10 are between the legs of the associated U-shaped stop 13 (Fig. 5 and 6). To axially secure the loosely attached bracket 13 and the two flattened parts 9 and 10 lying between the legs of the same, a nut 14 is screwed on each end of the bolt 4. Since the legs of the stop 13 spring slightly outward, there is still enough play for the pivoting movement of the flattened parts 9 and 10 after the nut 14 is tightened. The web 15 of the stops 13 is directed inwards (FIGS. 4 and 6) .
The effect of the stops 13 is as follows: If the backrest cloth 8 is loaded by a person sitting on the cloth 12, the two rods 6 of the backrest tend to approach each other and the sides 5 on which the rods 6 also lean are hinged to pivot inward. This is' avoided that the flattened parts 10 of the side rests are supported on the upper web edge 16 of the stops 13, whereby the lower edge 17 of the web 15 is pressed against the flattened part 9 of the feet 1, so that the webs 15 prevent inward pivoting of the side rests 5 by the load on the back cloth 8.
Looking in particular at FIGS. 2 and 5, it can be seen that the stops 13 both in the folded and in the unfolded state of the furniture completely within the lateral boundary lines 18, 19 of the feet 1 and the side rests shown in dash-dotted lines in FIG 5 lie. The same can be said with regard to the nuts 14. Damage to clothes by protruding parts of the joints is thus avoided. In addition, thanks to the special shape and arrangement of the stops 13, pinching of the hands, in particular the fingers, is greatly reduced. When the furniture is folded up as described above, the hits 13 reach the position shown in FIGS. 3 and 7.
