B. das 1-Amino-4-methoxy-anthrachi- non oder die 1-Amino-4-, -5- oder -8-acylamino-an- thrachinone, insbesondere -benzoylamino-anthrachi- none genannt;

Process for the preparation of dyes of the anthraquinone series The present patent relates to a process for the preparation of valuable dyes of the anthrac'hinone series of the formula which are free from salt-forming, water-solubilizing groups
EMI0001.0004
where A is a radical of the anthraquinone series, m is an integer with a value of at most 4, n is one with a value of at most 5, at least three of the radicals R are hydrogen atoms or optionally substituted alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals and one of the radicals R is a hydrogen atom,
denote an optionally substituted alkyl or cycloalkyl radical or a benzene radical, where the radicals R1 and R. or R3 and R, together with the nitrogen atom, can form the radical of a heterocyclic ring system, for example a piperidine or marpholine ring.
Suitable alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals are preferably those containing a maximum of 6 carbon atoms. The alkyl radicals can be substituted, for example, by halogen atoms, oxy, alkoxy or cyano groups, but are expediently free from amino groups. As an example of suitable alkyl radicals are the methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, (3-oxyethyl,
y-Oxypropyl, (3-chloroethyl, (3-cyanoethyl or ß-methoxyethyl radicals. An example of a cycloalkyl radical is the cyclohexyl radical. The dyes are free from salt-forming, water-solubilizing groups, ie from sulfonic acid, carboxylic acid or aliphatic table amino groups.
The new dyes can be obtained by using cyanuric chloride in any order with an amine of the formula which can be linked
EMI0001.0048
and with amines of the formula
EMI0001.0050
condensed. Linkable amines suitable for the present process include, for example, 1-amino anthraquinone and its simple substitution products, such as
B. the 1-amino-4-methoxy-anthraquinone or the 1-amino-4-, -5- or -8-acylamino-anthraquinones, especially -benzoylamino-anthraquinones mentioned;
The latter can be substituted in the benzoyl radicals, for example by halogen atoms, methoxy, alkyl, trifluoromethyl, sulfonamide or sulfone groups, and also 1,41 diamino-anthraquinone and its substitution products in the 2-position, 1,5- or 1-position , 8-diaminoanthraquinone, 1,5-diamino-4,8-dioxy-anthraquinone. The radical A in the given formula (1) also includes those anthraquinone radicals
which still contain fused, carbocyclic or heterocyclic rings, for example 4-aminoanthraquinone-2,1 (N) -acridone, 5-amino-1,9-isothiazolanthrone, 4- or 5-amino-anthrapyrimidine, amino-acedianthrones , the 4- or 5-amino-1 ', 1-dianthrimide carbazole, the 4- or 5-amino-5'-benzoylamino-dianthrimide carbazole, the 4-amino-4'-benzoyl-amino-dianthrimide carbazole,
4 Aminoanthrapyridone, Amino-dibenzathron, Aminoisodibenzanthron, Aminoanthanthron, Aminobenzanthrone, Aminoflavanthron, Aminopyranthron and the compounds of the formulas
EMI0002.0031
The cyanuric chloride can first be reacted with the vettable amine in a molar ratio of 1: 1. In this case a condensation product is obtained which still contains 2 chlorine atoms on the trianzine residue.
These are replaced by, for example, reaction with ammonia or aliphatic amines with NH or amine residues.
The cyanuric chloride can, for example, first be condensed with one mole of ammonia or an aliphatic amine, a compound of the formula
EMI0002.0045
where R1 and R, hydrogen atoms or optionally substituted alkyl groups or at most one of the radicals R1 and R., denotes a benzene radical, which is reacted with the connectable amine in a molar ratio of 1: 1.
The condensation product obtained, which still contains a chlorine atom, is reacted with ammonia or an aliphatic amine. If R1 and R. of the formula (4) are alkyl radicals, the condensation product can also be reacted with an aminobenzene.
Finally, the cyanuric chloride can also be combined with 2 moles of an aliphatic amine or ammonia to form the monochlorotriazine of the formula
EMI0002.0066
wherein R1, R:>, R .; and R, have the same meaning as in the formula (1).
The reactions are expediently carried out in an inert organic solvent, for example nitrobenzene, chlorobenzene or o-dichlorobenzene, at an elevated temperature.
In general, it is not necessary to isolate the chlorine-containing primary condensation products, but all reactions can be carried out in the same vessel.
The dyes obtained can be used for the most varied of purposes, in particular as vat dyes, pigments or as dispersion dyes for synthetic fibers.
Depending on the size of the anthraquinone residue or the type of substituents in the triazine residue, they are more suitable for one or the other type of application. Colorants containing the remainder of the formula
EMI0002.0085
Thanks to their high light and migration fastness, they are ideal as pigments.
Dyes containing an anthraquinone residue consisting of a maximum of 3 benzene nuclei and alkyl or oxyalkyl groups as substituents on the amino groups of the triazine residue can be used as dispersion dyes for synthetic fibers, especially those made from cellulose esters, polyamides, polyacrylonitrile or polyethylene terephthalate be used.
Of particular interest as vat dyes are anthraquinones of the formula (1) in which A denotes a more highly condensed anthraquinone residue, for example a pyranthrone, acedianthrone, dibenzyprenchinone, but in particular a dibenzanthrone or isodibenzanthrone residue. Dyes, containing the dibenzanthrone residue, are vat dyes which dye cellulose fibers in valuable deep black tones.
Of particular interest are dyes of the dibenzanthrone series, which contain at least one oxyalkylamino group in the trianzine residue.
In the following examples, unless otherwise stated, the parts are parts by weight, the percentages are percentages by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 1 9.4 parts of aminodibenzanthrone are suspended in 200 parts of dry nitrobenzene with stirring and heated to 160 to 170 °. The solution of 6 parts of cyanuric chloride in 40 parts of nitrobenzene is then added, and 0.5 part of pyridine is added, and the mixture is stirred at 170 for 12 hours.
After cooling to room temperature, the cyanuration product has the formula
EMI0003.0040
isolated by filtration and washed with nitrobenzene. The filter material is then entered in small portions at 150 to 1600 in 100 parts of monoethanolamine and continued at 1500 for 2 hours. After cooling, it is poured onto water and the dye of the formula
EMI0003.0045
filtered, washed thoroughly with water, then acetone and dried in vacuo at 60 to 700.
When dry, the new dye is a black powder that dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose from an alkaline hydrosulfite vat in valuable black shades with excellent fastness properties.
The same dye is also obtained if 20 parts of monoethanolamine in 20 parts of chloroform are added dropwise to the 170% warm suspension of the primary cyanuration product in nitrobenzene over the course of one hour and the batch is stirred for a few hours at 170 to 180.1.
If you use N-methyl-aminodibenzanthrone instead of aminodibenzathrone and proceed exactly as described in paragraph 1, you get a vat dye that dyes cotton in brownish black shades of excellent fastness properties.
Example 2 The cyanuration product described in Example 1, first section, is introduced as filter material in small portions of 100 parts of diethanolamine at 150 to 160 with thorough stirring and stirred for 1 hour. The dye of the formula
EMI0004.0006
is, as described in Example 1, isolated.
It dyes cotton and regenerated cellulose from red-blue hydrosulfite vat in rich, black tones with excellent fastness properties. Example 3 6.2 parts of the dichlorotriazine product of aminodibenzanthrone described in Example 1 are suspended in 200 parts of nitrobenzene and heated to 1,600. Then 12 parts of cyclohexylamine are added dropwise over a period of 2 to 3 hours and the mixture is stirred for a further 6 hours at 150 to 160 hours.
After cooling, the dye becomes of the formula
