In the preparation of these monoazo compounds containing nitro or acylamino groups, the diazo and coupling components must be chosen so that the resulting compound contains 1-4 sulfonic acid groups.
The conversion of the nitro- or acylamino-containing compound into the corresponding amino compound can be carried out by methods customary per se, for example by treating the same in aqueous solution with sodium sulfide in those cases in which the monoazo compound contains a nitro group, while in those cases in which the monoazo compound contains an acylamino group, a treatment with an aqueous alkali or with an aqueous acid can be carried out.
The new metal complex monoazo dyes are valuable for dyeing cellulose textiles, e.g. B. of those which contain natural or regenerated cotton. For dyeing such Textilmateria lien the new metallized azo dyes are preferably either by a dyeing method or by a printing method in conjunction with a treatment with an acid-binding agent, e.g.
B. sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate, is applied, whereby this acid-binding agent can be applied to the cellulosic textile material before, during or after the application of the dye.
If the new metallized azo dyes are applied to cellulose textiles in the manner mentioned, they react with the cellulose and, depending on the choice of coupling components, deliver different shades of excellent fastness properties to light, chemicals, washing, acids and alkali.
Other metal complex monoazo compounds of the halogenated s-triazine series have already been described. What is new about the present dyes is the combination of a single dye with 3 specific features, namely (1) in the use of a chromium or cobalt complex, (2) in the use of the o-carboxyarylamine diazo component and (3)
in the presence of a single chlorine or bromine atom and an etherified hydroxyl group in the triazine nucleus. This combination allows a number of dyes with extraordinary reactivity in the aforementioned dyeing process in conjunction with the other properties mentioned above, in contrast to the properties, especially in each NEN cases in which the coupling component used is a 1-naphthol or a 5-pyrazolone previously known dyes of similar chemical constitution,
which do not have all of the above 3 features. Notwithstanding their high reactivity with respect to cellulose, the new metal complex monoazo dyes are extremely stable in aqueous printing pastes and give good color values, even when they are used in the form of copious amounts of 20% or more urea-containing printing pastes, with the solubility of the dye is increased and more intense colors can be achieved.
In general, it has been found that the addition of copious amounts of urea to textile printing pastes increases the proportion of dye which can be dissolved in the paste, but the presence of copious amounts of urea has the disadvantage of poorer color yield on fixing the fiber and especially cotton.
In the following examples the parts and percentages are given by weight. Example 1 A mixture of 10.8 parts of the disodium salt of 2-amino-6- (2'-carboxyphenylazo) -5-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid, 4.9 parts of chromium triacetate and 200 parts Water is heated to boiling on the reflux condenser for 3 hours while stirring.
The solution obtained in this way is cooled to 10 "C, adjusted to Congo red by adding a concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid solution and then the 1,2-chromium complex of 2-amino-6- (2'-carboxyphenylazo) -5-naphthol-7- sulfonic acid, which has deposited ', filtered off.
A solution of this chromium complex in 200 parts of water is treated with sodium carbonate until the pH of the solution is adjusted to 7.0, whereupon the resulting solution is filtered and the filtrate is a solution of 4.5 parts of 2,4-dichloro -6-methoxy-s-triazine in 40 parts of acetone is added. The mixture is then stirred for 1 hour at 35 to 40 ° C. and a 10% strength aqueous solution of sodium carbonate is added at intervals in order to keep the pH of the mixture at 7.
Sodium chloride is then added and the dye which separates out on cooling is filtered off and dried.
If this dye mass is analyzed, it is found that it contains one atom of chromium, 2 azo groups and 2.0 atoms of organically bound chlorine per dye molecule.
If this dye is applied to cellulose textiles in conjunction with a treatment with an acid-binding agent, it provides heavy brown tones with excellent fastness properties to light, chemicals, washing, acids and alkali.
The following table describes other colors that are obtained on cellulose textiles when the disodium salt of 2-amino-6- (2'-carboxyphenylazo) -5-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid used in Example 1 is replaced by an equivalent Replaced amount of the sodium salt of the azo compound listed in the second column of the table below.

Example 33 If you work according to the information in Example 1 using 5.6 parts of 2-amino-5-hydroxy- 6- (4'-amino-2'-carboxyphenylazo) -naphthalene- 7-sulfonic acid and 2.45 parts of chromium acetate, so it holds a dye which contains 1 chromium atom, 2 azo groups and 4.0 atoms of organically bound chlorine per molecule.
If this dye is applied to cellulose textile materials in the same way as in Example 1, orange-brown shades are obtained. Example 34 If you work according to the information in Example 33 using 6.0 parts of 1- (3'-amino-4'-sulphophenyl) -3-methyl -4- (4 "- amino-2 "-carboxyphenyl-azo) -5-pyrazolone, the result is a dye which on cellulose textiles gives matte purple-red-brown shades.
Example 35 If you work according to the information in Example 1 using 6.25 parts of cobalt acetate instead of chromium acetate and replacing the disodium salt of 2-amino-6- (2'-carboxyphenylazo) - 5-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid with an equivalent amount of the disodium salt of 2- (4'-amino-2'-carboxyphenylazo) -1-naphthol-4-sulfonic acid, so you get a dye which on cellulose textiles a dull brown Shade supplies.
The following table shows other shades of color which are obtained on cellulose textiles with further examples of cobalt complex dyes of this invention by adding the disodium salt of 2- (4 'amino-2'-carboxyphenylazo) -1 mentioned in Example 35 -naphthol-4-sulfonic acid replaced by an equivalent amount of the sodium salt of the azo compound listed in the second column of the table.
