Aeration device for wastewater purification using the activated sludge process
The main patent relates to an aeration device for wastewater purification according to the activated sludge process, with at least one downwardly open container, the interior of which is connected to an air supply line, with at least approximately vertical flow channels being provided which have air passage openings.
The subject of the present invention is an improvement or further development of this ventilation device, which is based on the object of reducing manufacturing costs and at the same time achieving a further reduction in the cross-section of the container acting as a flow barrier and thereby an even more lively water circulation in the wastewater treatment basin. In addition, by means of a special arrangement of the device, the ongoing operating costs are to be reduced by reducing the delivery pressure of the supplied air and, at the same time, a locally determined, stable and lively course of the water circulation should be guaranteed.
Accordingly, the present invention relates to an aeration device for wastewater purification according to the activated sludge process, with at least one downwardly open container, the interior of which is connected to at least one air supply line, wherein at least approximately vertical flow channels are provided which have air passage openings, which device is characterized in that the flow channels of the container are designed as rectangular ventilation boxes that are open at the top and bottom and are provided with perforated side walls in places and are arranged in a checkerboard manner, and that the air supply line opens out directly below the cover plate of the container.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the ventilation device according to the invention is shown schematically. Show it:
1 shows a ventilation device in a wastewater treatment basin, in a perspective view, partly in section,
FIG. 2 shows the ventilation device of FIG. 1 in a cross section.
In Fig. 1 is a wastewater treatment tank, which z. B. can be made of concrete, denoted by 1. The inlet and outlet devices for the waste water arranged at this basin are not shown in FIG. 1 for the sake of clarity. In addition, parts of the side walls of the basin 1 are omitted in FIG. 1 so that the ventilation device, generally designated 2, is more visible. This device consists essentially of a downwardly open container 3, in the outer wall of which a row of openings 4 is provided. Ventilation boxes 7, which are rectangular in cross section and open at the top and bottom and serve as flow channels, are installed in the cover plate 6 of the container 3. The ventilation boxes 7 are flush with the surface of the cover plate 6 and with the lower edge 3a of the container 3.
The ventilation boxes 7 are arranged like a checkerboard and largely fill the outline of the horizontal cross section of the container 3.
Below the cover plate 6 a series of openings 8 is provided in the ventilation boxes 7, for example in each side wall, which z. B. can be drilled or formed as punched holes. The openings 4 and 8 are preferably in a common horizontal plane. The container 3 is held, for example, by a single air supply line 9.
It can be seen from FIG. 2 that the air line 9 opens out directly below the cover plate 6 of the container 3. Furthermore, a number of ventilation boxes 7 with the bores 8 can be seen in FIG. At a certain distance below the outlet of the air line 9, a baffle plate 10 is arranged, which serves to distribute the air evenly
During operation, pressurized air is now fed into the container 3 in the direction of arrow 11 via the air supply line 9. This air displaces the water located in the container 3, for example up to the dash-dotted line designated by 12 in FIG.
In contrast, the inside of the ventilation boxes 7 still contains the wastewater to be cleaned, which is in the basin 1, for example, up to the dot-dash line 14 (FIG. 1), i.e. H. above the upper edge of the openings 8 in the ventilation boxes 7. The air now penetrates during operation both through the openings 8 into the interior of the ventilation boxes 7 and through the openings 4 into the vicinity of the container 3 and thereby enriches the waste water with oxygen. The air bubbles rising in the ventilation boxes 7 create a difference in the density of the water columns in the ventilation boxes 7 and around the container 3, causing the wastewater to circulate in the basin 1, which is generally known as the so-called mammoth pump effect.
The air-water mixture rises in the ventilation boxes 7 so that further wastewater flows into these boxes from below and is aerated in the same way. In this way, the entire water content of the basin 1, as illustrated in FIG. 2 by directional arrows, is circulated.
The fact that the flow channels 7 are designed as rectangular ventilation boxes and are arranged in a checkerboard manner results in a relatively simple and inexpensive manufacture of the ventilation device, since only flat material can be used for the manufacture of the container 3 and the ventilation boxes 7. Any special deformation processes that make production considerably more expensive are not required here. The ventilation boxes 7 can rather in a simple manner, as well as the container 3, for. B. can be produced by edge welding and / or by simply bending the corresponding pre-cut plates or sheets.
On the other hand, the design of the flow channels 7 as rectangular ventilation boxes has the further advantage from a functional point of view that a further reduction in the cross-section of the container 3, which acts as a flow barrier, and thus a more intensive water circulation in the wastewater basin 1 can be achieved because the flow channels have a rectangular cross-sectional shape As a simple geometric consideration inevitably shows, the ratio of the total horizontal cross-section of all ventilation boxes 7 to the horizontal cross-section of the container 3, which acts as a flow barrier, can be significantly increased compared to the previously proposed use of circular duct cross-sections.
Since the openings 4 and 8 are arranged in the vertical side walls of the container 3 or the ventilation boxes 7 and thus run horizontally, the risk of clogging is low. In particular, the openings 8 arranged in the side walls of the ventilation boxes 7 are secured against clogging by mud particles because the water rising in the ventilation box 7 serving as a flow channel has a particularly high, i.e. H. usually even has the greatest flow velocity in the entire basin 1.
The container 3 only fills part of the clear cross section of the basin 1. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the container 3 is here in one half of the basin 1, while a cross-sectional part generally designated 15 remains free in the other half of the basin. The air-enriched water parts rising in the ventilation boxes 7 and exiting at the top move down again in the cross-sectional part 15 of the basin 1, so that the air is also carried into the zones of the wastewater basin 1 located below the container 3. The basin part filled by the container 3 is preferably at most half the total cross-sectional area of the basin 1, but this basin part will mostly be smaller than the remaining free cross-sectional area 15 of the basin 1.
The dimensioning and arrangement of the aerator tank 3 causes a lively, locally determined and stable circulating cycle of the wastewater, which is supported by the vertical wall 16 drawn in FIG. 2 and ensures intensive wastewater treatment in a relatively short time.
The container 3 is preferably arranged in the upper third of the basin 1, which has the advantage that the air only needs to be supplied via the supply line 9 at a pressure which corresponds to the third part of the hydrostatic pressure of the water column at the bottom of the basin 1.
Instead of a single air supply line, several such lines, evenly distributed over the container cross-section, can be provided, these line pipes also being able to serve at the same time as support elements for the container.
The proposed design of the ventilation device has the advantage that a lively, locally determined and stable waste water circulation is achieved without the costly generation of relatively high air pressure, while it can nevertheless be produced in a very simple and inexpensive manner.
