Electrical resistance artificially cooled by a stream of air The spatial dimensions of electrical resistances depend on the electrical power which, at most, should be converted into heat by the resistance concerned. So that the dimensions of the resistors remain within limits with greater electrical power, they are cooled by an air flow generated by fans or blowers.
The better and more evenly the individual elements of a resistor are exposed to the flow of cooling air, the higher the permissible specific load capacity of the resistor, ie. H. the smaller the dimensions of the resistor can be chosen for a given maximum load. Resistors for large powers with smaller dimensions who, for example, are required in particular as starting and braking resistors in electric traction vehicles, since the space available there is usually very limited.
In known resistance arrangements, the resistance elements made of cast iron, sheet metal or wire are therefore placed in a duct that is designed to be fluid in terms of flow, the flow-generating unit usually being located on the inlet side. The resistance elements in the channel are arranged in such a way that the moving air flows around them as completely as possible.
The air flow blown through a series of resistor elements connected in series experiences a pressure drop with decreasing Luftge speeds between the entry and exit points of the flow channel. The result is that the resistance elements located in this area can have very different heating levels, with the elements located against the exit point being heated most strongly. The invention relates to an electrical resistor artificially cooled by a stream of air and solves the task of cooling the individual elements of the resistor very evenly, so that very small dimensions of the resistor are possible as a result. According to the invention, the opposing elements are arranged in a circle around a common axis and means, for.
B. an electric motor, provided in order to put the resistance elements in circulation about the common axis while the current flows through.
Preferred embodiments of the invention are explained below with reference to the drawing. According to Fig. 1, resistance elements, such as hair-like needle-shaped sheets 1, are attached to a heat-resistant insulating body 3 pushed onto a shaft 2. The ends of the resistance element 1 are connected to two slip ring 4 located on the insulating body 3, on which with feed lines 6 connected contact strips 5 slide. If the shaft is now set in rotation, then there is increased cooling of the counter body through which current flows.
In this embodiment, the legs of the hairpin-shaped resistance element 1 are guided by the surrounding, still air.
If now, according to Fig. 2, the legs of the opposing stand element 1 are interlaced, then they act as fan blades and move the surrounding air in the axial direction, whereby a FITS intensive cooling of the resistance elements 1 is effected.
If, according to Fig. 3, the resistance elements 1 are arranged parallel or approximately parallel to the axis of rotation between two supporting disks 7 made entirely or partially of heat-resistant insulating material, the resistance elements 1 inclined to the axis 2 also act as air-conveying blades, so that the cooling air is sucked in and moved radially past the resistance elements 1. FIG. 4 shows the arrangement according to FIG. 3 in a section perpendicular thereto.
Another example of a minder stand according to the invention is shown in FIG. There the resistance elements 1, which consist of disc-shaped cast or sheet metal grids with shovel-shaped curved segments, are placed on the shaft 2 formed as a hollow shaft and the insulating tube 3 pushed over it. The electrical distance between the individual resistance disks is provided by insulating rings B. All of the aforementioned parts 1, 2, 3 and 8 are held together by aerodynamically designed locking pieces 9 which are screwed onto the threaded hollow shaft 2.
The cast resistance element 1 can be designed according to FIG. 6. From the inside and outside, incisions are then provided in one of the resistor element 1 forming the metal disk, so that the current flows on a long zigzag path from one connection point 1 a to the other 1 b. The outward-facing, incised disc segments are shaped into fan blades.
The resistor disks connected in series or in parallel and lined up one behind the other are connected to one another in the manner shown in FIG. The two successive disk-shaped resistor elements 1 isolie-generating ring 8 is drilled through at the junction. A metal tube 10 is inserted through this bore. A secured screw presses the disk-shaped resistance elements 1 firmly together men. Instead of this connection, however, a pressure contact connection known per se could also be used.
The metal tube 10 would then be replaced by a double-acting pressure contact who establishes the power connection when all the panes are pressed together by the locking pieces 9.
As can be seen from FIG. 7, one of the disk-shaped resistance elements 1 has a threaded hole at the connection point, but the other disk-shaped resistance element 1 has a smooth hole. In one and the same disk, the connection point la has threads, while the connection point 1b has a smooth hole, so that a continuous connection of all disks is possible, please include, which are then each staggered from connection to connection by a segment.
The according to Fig. 5 for the current-locking connec tion between the circumferential resistance elements th 1 and the leads 6 required grinding rings 4 and brushes 5 can, for. B. lie outside the hollow shaft 2 on the suction side or inside the hollow shaft. The slip rings within the hollow shaft can also be arranged either on one side or on both sides. Depending on the choice of this slip ring position or brush position, the supply of the power connection between the resistance disks and the slip rings is designed.
In the example shown, both slip rings 4 are on one side. The enlarged view in FIG. 8 shows how the connections between resistance elements 1 and brushes can be made. Inside the hollow shaft 2 and attached to it, there is a slip ring carrier 15 with slip rings 4. On them slide the brushes carried by a bearing plate 11 and a brush holder 12 5. An insulated stud screw 13 steepens the connection between one of the slip rings 4 and the first resistance element 1 ago.
The connection between the stud 13 and the connection point la or 1b visible in FIG. 5 takes place via an angle 14. In the insulating spacer rings 8 there are recesses for receiving the screw heads and nuts. The connection of the second slip ring 4 to the resistance element located at the opposite end of the hollow shaft 2 takes place via a line 16.
The hollow shaft 2 contains a drive motor 18 which, in order to avoid inadmissible heating, is cooled by an air stream conveyed by a fan 17 and pushed out at the opposite end of the motor 18. The use of silicone insulation in the motor 18 can be useful. The motor 18 is a drum motor; H. the anchor is on the tongue and groove 19 connected to a housing cover 20 stand still the axis 21 held. The motor cables 22 are supplied through a fixed hollow axle 21.
The drive motor for the impellers located on the hollow shaft can have the same current flowing through it as the resistors or, in addition, can be fed or externally supplied with current.
According to what has been said above, the resistance unit represents a turbo fan. The fan resistance elements 1 attached to the hollow shaft 2 and rotating with it form the blades of a fan. If the amount of air required for cooling the resistance elements 1 is small, that is to say low pressures are to be generated, no guide vanes are required. In this case, the entire impeller consisting of several resistance elements is surrounded by an expedient undeteil th housing.
But if higher pressures are necessary for more intensive Küh treatment of the drag wheels, then fixed guide vanes 23 (Fig. 5) are required between the latter in the split Ge housing. They can be firmly connected to the outer housing part and thus release the heat absorbed by the air flow to the air surrounding the housing, which occurs in particular when the divided housing is provided with cooling fins. The guide vanes 23 can also be used as elec trical resistors. In this case, they are layered elements 1 in the same way as the resistance. An insulation 25 and spacers 26 are then located in the housing 24 between these and the guide vanes. These two elements 25, 26, like the housing, are halved.
The guide vanes 23 and the spacers 26 are held together by undivided press rings 27 during the production of the resistor after the housing halves 24 have been plugged together. The elec trical connection of the guide vanes with each other and with the impellers on the other hand takes place in a similar manner with reference to FIGS. 7 and 8 described.
The invention is not only applicable to the already mentioned starting and braking resistors or the like, but also for electrical heaters of all powers and allows a particularly small and light design of the device for a given power. FIGS. 9 to 11 show an example for this, namely FIG. 9 shows a section perpendicular to axis 2, FIG. 10 shows the view of the rotor body from the side and FIG. 11 shows a diagram for current conduction in the rotor body.
The resistance elements 1 are in this case designed as fan blades or blades and applied to support disks 7, which mix kera or other heat-resistant materials. In this body heating rods or wires 28 are embedded, which are connected in series with one another.
The wires and bands can, however, also be wound up on the air-conveying bodies 1 according to FIG. 9 if they are inserted into suitable grooves which absorb their centrifugal force or if they are threaded through holes located in the resistance supports.
The power connections in all of the above-described arrangements to each other and to the slip rings can be designed in such a way that, in addition to connecting all resistance elements in series, parallel connections or taps are provided for any type of circuit, with more than two slip rings on the shaft, insulated against the latter among themselves, are arranged.
FIG. 12 shows an exemplary embodiment for a space heater according to FIGS. 9 to 11, which draws in air from above and blows the heated air out on all sides. This version is intended for installation on a floor surface. However, the thermal fan can also be designed so that it is attached to the ceiling with a low overall height, with the air to be heated sucking in from below and blowing out to the side.
Another possible embodiment consists in the fact that the thermal fan is attached to an area delimiting a room in such a way that it can both suck in fresh air from the open air or, with the appropriate setting, work with circulating air.
