Direct current welding generator It is known that the dynamic properties of direct current welding generators can be improved by arranging scatter spikes between the main and turning poles. It is also known to equip the generator with displaceable brushes in order to enable a simple, practically stepless adjustment of the various welding currents. When the brushes are displaced, the position of the coils short-circuited by the brushes changes. In order to obtain good commutation, it is therefore necessary to design the reversing poles in such a way that they generate a useful reversing field over the entire area over which the brushes can be moved.
A direct current welding generator has also been equipped with basic excitation by a shunted or separately excited winding with a counter-winding through which the welding current flows, in order to produce a falling current-voltage characteristic and also the counter-winding on the pole pieces, one between the reversing poles two reversing poles arranged lying main poles,
in order to avoid too tight a transformer coupling between the counter windings through which the main current flows and the basic excitation. Of the measures mentioned, only one or two of the known welding generators were used together.
The invention, on the other hand, consists in the combined application of the following known features a and b with the new feature c in a direct current welding generator: a) on one side between the reversing pole and the main pole arranged scattering prongs, b) movable brushes, c) counter-series winding through which the armature current flows, which loops around the main pole and the reversing pole following in the direction of rotation.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in FIGS. It shows schematically part of the poles and the armature of a direct current welding generator in a straight representation, namely FIG. 1 in the brush position for the largest welding current and FIG. 2 in the brush position for the smallest welding current.
1 is the armature of a direct current welding generator that carries the armature winding 2. 3 is the yoke of the machine to which the main poles 4 and the reversing poles 5 are attached. The excitation winding 6, which can be self-excited or externally excited, sits on the main poles 4. An opposing series winding 7 through which the armature current flows in such a way that it counteracts the flow through the excitation winding 6 wraps around both the main pole 4 and the reversing pole 5 following in the direction of rotation.
For the current direction drawn in the field winding 6, represented by O and (- "1, through this one main pole becomes a north pole N and the other a south pole S. The useful flow of the main poles entered into the armature is in the Fig. 1 is denoted by 09. and in Fig. 2. The reversing pole winding 8 seated on the reversing poles excites the reversing poles in cooperation with the armature winding so that the entered polarities s and n arise.
Between each main pole 4 and a reversing pole 5 following in the direction of rotation, a scattering prong 9 is arranged, which is separated from the reversing pole by the scattered air gap d. For the way in which the machine works, it does not matter whether the spike is located on the main pole or on the reversing pole. If a current is drawn from the armature winding, then the current directions entered apply to the armature winding 2, the reversing pole winding 8 and the back-to-back winding 7.
The armature winding 2 receives the current via the commutator and the commutator brushes, the fictitious position of which is indicated on the armature circumference by the brushes 10 and 11, namely in FIG. 1 in the position for the greatest welding current and in FIG in the position for the smallest welding current.
The turning zone determined by the type of armature winding and the brush width is due to the limit positions of the individual coils short-circuited during the commutation process for the position corresponding to the largest welding current in FIG. 1 with 12, in FIG. 2 for the position corresponding to the smallest welding current 13 designated. In order to obtain a practically spark-free commutating machine, it is necessary that the influence of the main poles remains within permissible limits even in the extreme limit positions of the commutating coils.
The right limit position of the turning zone for the position with the greatest welding current according to Fig. 1 is expediently set so that it is still under the right part of the reversible pole shoe, while the left limit position of the turning zone is located between the turning point, as shown in FIG - and the main pole is located.
This is permissible because, taking into account the significantly lower reactance voltage with smaller welding currents and the commutation capacity of the carbon brushes, the mean turning field can be selected to be smaller in order to obtain spark-free commutation with smaller welding currents. In this way, good utilization of the armature surface is achieved, which in turn enables the use of a smaller machine with the same output.
The reverse series winding 7 has the task of canceling the compounding effect of the armature winding when the brushes are in position for large welding current (see FIG. 1). In addition, there is a resultant counter-flow component which more than cancels the compounding reversal flux component generated by the reversing poles and not linked to the main pole, so that the desired sharp drop in terminal voltage with the load current occurs.
For the position for smaller welding currents (see FIG. 2), the counter-compounding effect of the armature winding is increased by the counter-series winding 7 with respect to the excitation winding 6. This effect on the main field and the counter-compounding flux component of the reversing poles in this position has the consequence that the welding current becomes smaller, as intended, and the welding current range desired for a welding generator can be set in a simple manner by shifting the brushes.
For the formation of the usable helical pole flux that enters the armature, the sum of the number of turns of the reversible pole winding 8 and the opposing series winding 7 is decisive. With the same reversible pole air gap and the same armature winding, the number of turns of the reversible pole winding 8 that wraps around the reversible poles alone can be reduced by the number of turns of the opposing series winding.
The back-to-back series winding 7 lies with one side in the gap between the main and reversing poles and is placed in a groove-like recess 14 of the main pole shoe, while the other side of the back-to-back series winding is in the other gap-free pole gap and to some extent an extension of the Represents reversing pole coil 8 in the direction of the armature.
Because the opposing series winding 7 is pushed very close to the armature winding, an excessively tight transformer coupling with the main excitation winding 6 is avoided. If the back-to-back series winding is brought as close as possible to the armature winding, roughly the same is achieved as when the back-to-back series winding is arranged on the armature surface. The same effect could also be achieved if the brushes are shifted by an equivalent amount in the direction of rotation without an opposing series winding in the stator.
Such a brush shift would be very inexpedient because it would require a shortening of the right main pole shoe ends and an extension of the left reversible pole shoes if the commutation is not to be disturbed by the main pole field on the one hand and if the required reversing field is to be available on the other. This would result in a poorly used machine with a small main pole arc.
For the formation of the leakage flux via the scatter spikes and the scattered air gap 8, the sum of the flows through the excitation winding 6 and the reversing pole winding 8 which only wraps around the reversing poles is decisive. Compared to a version in which the counter-series winding only wraps around the main pole, this total value is probably the same, but the copper expenditure for the reversing poles and the counter-series winding is lower.
In view of the much better decoupling of the opposing series winding 7 and the main pole of the excitation winding 6, the leakage flux that forms over the spikes can be selected to be smaller with the same dynamic behavior of the welding generator. The spike can therefore never be dimensioned driger in the radial direction. Because the back-to-back series winding 7 is arranged essentially in the pole gaps, a reduction in the height of the excitation coils on the main pole and on the reversing pole is achieved. Both effects reduce the yoke inside diameter with the same armature diameter and thus the external dimensions of the welding generator.
