Limited Rotation Motor The present invention relates to a limited rotation motor, e.g. B. for servo control systems and the like.
The purpose of the invention is to create a motor which for certain external dimensions of the motor, for a certain amount of excitation and for a certain radial length of the air gap between Ro tor- and stator poles results in the greatest possible torque.
Another purpose of the invention is to provide such a motor which over a limited range of rotation generates a torque which is linearly proportional to a control signal.
The inventive motor for a limited range of rotation with a plurality of pronounced stator poles, a rotor with the same number, also embossed, each with a corresponding stator pole cooperating poles and with each cooperating with a rotor pole and the associated stator pole and attached to the latter coils which extend over the end part of the rotor poles and whose internal dimensions are dimensioned in such a way that they permit the limited rotational movement of the rotor, is characterized by:
that the radial extent of each rotor pole and the interacting stator pole is provided that the air gap between the poles is approximately in the range of the outer end face of the coils.
In the accompanying drawings, two exemplary embodiments of the subject invention are from Darge provides; 1 shows a section through the motor according to an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, FIG. 2 shows a partial view of FIG. 1 on an enlarged scale, FIG. 3 shows a section through the motor according to another embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
In one embodiment according to FIG. 1, the motor, the stator yoke of which has an overall diameter limited to 50 mm, comprises the yoke 11 itself of known cylindrical shape, from the inner, curved surface of which four stator poles 12a to 12d extend radially inward. The pole pair 12a and 12e are diametrically opposite one another; the pole pair 12b and 12d are also diametrically opposed. The four poles, that is to say the asymmetrically lying protruding parts on the projections 12 are slightly unevenly distributed on the stator yoke 11.
A coil 15a to 15d is assigned to each stator pole, the axis of which is radial.
On the shaft 14 sits an unwound rotor 16 with four poles 17a to 17d evenly distributed around the shaft, which are assigned to the corresponding stator coils 12a to 12d. Each rotor pole is elongated in the radial direction relative to the corresponding stator pole so that a sufficiently large air gap 18a or 18b to 18d is created between them (see also FIG. 2). The tips of each stator and rotor pole are approximately 7 wide in a plane normal to axis 13.
The radial length of each air gap, which is exaggerated in the drawing, determines the required speed and linearity of the response of the motor.
Each stator and rotor pole coil 15 extends radially so much beyond the end of the stator pole and beyond the extended end of the rotor pole that the air gap is between the center of the coil and the end face of the coil furthest away from the axis 13. A more precise location of the air gap will be given later. Each rotor pole thus extends into the coil. The inner dimensions of that part of the coil that surrounds the rotor pole are of course so large that the rotor can perform angular movements according to its range of rotation.
Such movement is necessarily limited by the spool, but since the angular movements are only of the order of 2-3, the spool can easily be made to allow such movement.
Each pair of diametrically opposed Spu len 15a and 15c, 15b and 15d is individually in series by a stream - z. B. il or 1, - so excited that the two currents generate opposing torques. While the sum of these currents is kept constant, their difference is kept proportional to the signal that controls the motor. This can e.g. B. can be realized by a tube circuit according to the British patent No. 692203.
It is necessary that when the control signal and therefore the current difference is equal to zero, the rotor torque is also zero, the rotor then being in the zero angle position, as shown in the figures, so that the reluctance of all four air gaps is the same are.
It is also necessary for the rotor to develop a torque in the appropriate direction and size for the smallest signal. These conditions are met by the fact that the stator poles are not evenly distributed around the rotor axis.
In the arrangement shown in FIG. 1, the stator pole 12a is displaced by half the pole width (in the normal plane to the rotor axis) against the adjacent pole 12d. The other two stator poles are shifted against each other by the same amount. Therefore, one edge 21 (Fig. 2) of a stator pole with the axis 22 of the corresponding rotor pole is directed in each case when this is in the zero position. Despite this position shift, the poles 12a and 12b are still diametrically opposite the poles 12e and 12d.
As a result of the smallness of these displacements> the stator coils can still be arranged evenly around the rotor axis.
On the other hand, the rotor poles 17 are located at exactly the same distance from one another, i. H. at a distance of 90. In another embodiment, the stator poles can be evenly distributed and the rotor poles shifted by the stated amount.
The tangential force developed at each rotor pole is proportional to the square of the field strength in the air gap between the associated stator and rotor poles and is therefore proportional to the square of the current exciting the coil in question. The resulting torque is therefore proportional to 121-Z22, assuming that il>!,. This expression can be written as (11 - [- i2) (i, 7! 2).
Since il + i, o is kept constant, the resulting torque is proportional to i, 7i, and therefore, as required, also proportional to the control signal.
The torque developed at each rotor pole 17 depends on the field strength and the radial length s of this pole. This length is of course greatest when the radial length of the corresponding stator pole 12 is smallest, the air gap 18 being close to the outer end of the coil (as shown in FIG. 2).
Since the field strength changes only a little along the coil axis, the greatest torque is achieved by making the rotor poles as long in the radial direction as the need to use air gaps with a certain radial size 23 and stator poles with a certain edge length 21 um to be able to act as a pronounced pole (the other edge 24 has no influence), to create, is compatible.
The stator pole length that gives the greatest torque is best determined experimentally. In the present example, where the yoke has an overall diameter of 50 mm, it has been found that the effective length 25 of a radially directed edge 21 of the stator pole of 2.5 mm (1 / 2o of the yoke diameter) has the greatest torque for a given air gap and a given excitement results. The stator pole length 25 is approximately ten times the air gap 23.
Various variations within the scope of the invention can be allowed for the above execution form. The embodiment according to FIG. 3 can also be used. Here each stator pole is formed by a shoulder, the edge 21 'of which corresponds to the edge 21 in FIGS. 1 and 2 and is aligned with the axis 22 of the corresponding rotor pole in the zero position.
Although each coil 15 'is also determined in terms of position in relation to the associated stator pole in this case - in this case by a shoulder 21' it only covers the rotor pole and not, as before, also the stator pole end. Here, too, the inner dimensions of the coils are such that the rotor can move at small angles. The factors that determine the length 25 'of each stator pole for a given length 23 of the air gap and the mode of operation of this embodiment. remain the same as in the previous example.
