Description

Process for increasing the isothermal energy of an expanded polystyrene container
and other plastic foams
Foams of various plastic materials, in particular expanded polystyrene, allow the manufacture of containers, boxes, cases, etc., having as characteristics lightness, impact resistance, protection against humidity and especially isothermal, c 'that is to say protection against temperature variations.
However, this last property has proved, in use, very relative, in the sense that the duration of thermal insulation was notoriously insufficient, for example valid for a few hours only whereas it was hoped to be effective for several days. .
The serious consequence of this insufficiency is the impossibility of using this material for the manufacture of containers for the transport, in tropical regions, of chemical and pharmaceutical products which are particularly sensitive to cold or to heat.
With the aim of remedying this drawback, the subject of the invention is a method aimed at protecting the walls of such a container against thermal rays by an envelope increasing the isothermal nature of the expanded polystyrene and other plastic foams.
For the implementation of the method, two application examples are given:
The first is to coat the outer walls of the container with a thin layer of a metal or a heat reflective product such as thin aluminum, foil, or flocking of foil or foil. another metal, varnished or lacquered and others.
The second example recommends enclosing the container in a plastic bag in which a vacuum is made, using a plastic sealer.
This bag must be impermeable to gases.
The two solutions can also be applied simultaneously.
