Device for removing the inner weld burr from tubes welded together and method for operating the device The patent relates to a device for removing the inner weld burr from welded tubes and a method for operating the device.
The device according to the invention has two units which can be displaced relative to one another. The first carries the deburring tool and the second has slidable jaws for clamping the device within the one of the welded tubes. Under the action of at least one pressure medium, the jaws can be pressed outward and the two units can be driven apart.
According to the method according to the invention for operating the device, it is inserted into one of the pipes to be welded in such a way that the deburring tool faces the welding point and is at a distance from it.
After welding, as long as the weld burr to be removed is still glowing, the jaws are pressed against the inside of the pipe wall by means of a pressurized fluid and the unit carrying the deburring tool is pressed away from the other unit of the device. The deburring tool passes the welding point and removes its inner burr.
In the following an embodiment of the device according to the invention is described with reference to the drawing. In connection with this, for example, the inventive method for operating the device is also explained.
The only figure of the drawing shows an axial section through the device in one of two pipes welded together, in the state in which the jaws of the device are pressed against the inside of the pipe walls and the deburring tool begins its working movement.
The device shown has two essentially cylindrical units 1 and 2. These units 1 and 2 are partially arranged one inside the other, sealed airtight from one another and axially movable towards one another by a predetermined distance. At the end faces of the device, the unit 1 is closed off by means of an end wall 3, the unit 2 by means of an end wall 33. On the end wall 3, a carrier 4 for a deburring tool 5 is rotatably attached by means of an axial ball bearing 6.
The details of this attachment are not shown in the drawing voltage. The unit 2 is divided into chambers 9, 10 and 11 by means of two partition walls 7 and 8 arranged perpendicular to its axis at a distance from one another and from the cylinder ends. A tube 12 opens into an opening in the partition 8.
The tube 12 is slidably guided through a bore in the end wall 3, a seal 13 ensuring an airtight seal. In the stand from the partition 8, the tube 12 has an external thread 14 which engages in a corresponding internal thread 15 of the carrier 4. The Ger winds 14 resp.
15 has a relatively large pitch and is used to produce a screw movement of the carrier 4 with the deburring tool 5 when the unit 1 is axially displaced relative to the unit 2. The cutting edges of the deburring tool 5 are directed in such a way that they engage in the screw movement that the carrier 4 executes with the deburring tool 5, when the unit 1 is moved to the right in the drawing relative to the unit 2.
A double piston 16, 17 is displaceable in the chamber 10, the piston 16 sliding on the cylinder wall of the chamber 10 and the piston 17 sliding in a through bore of the partition 7. The piston 16 is equipped with a seal 18 and the guide of the piston 17 in the wall 7 is equipped with a seal 19. The diameter of the piston 16 is larger than the diameter of the piston 17, so that a pressure of a fluid exerted on the piston 16 comes into effect to an increased extent in the chamber 9.
The part of the chamber 10 located between the partition 7 and the piston 16 is connected to the outside air through bores 34. The part 10 a of the chamber 10 located between the piston 16 and the partition 8 is connected to the chamber 11 by two bottlenecks 20. The right end of the cylinder wall of the chamber 11 in the drawing carries a flange 21 which slides on the inner width of the cylinder wall of the A unit 1 and is sealed by means of a seal 22 abge.
Compression springs 24 are arranged between the flange 21 and a flange 23, which protrudes inward on the unit 1 and slides with its inner circumference on the outer cylinder wall of the unit 2. The flange 23 has radially inwardly projecting lugs 25, each of which slides in a groove 26 in the outer cylinder wall of the unit 2. In the drawing, only one of these noses and the groove assigned to it is shown. The Zylin derwand of the chamber 9 has four radial bores 27. In each of the bores 27 as a clamping jaw serving piston 28 is displaceable.
Springs (not shown in the drawing) are used to pull the pistons 28 back so far in their rest position that they do not protrude beyond the circumference of the unit 2. The pistons 28 are shown in the drawing in their operative position. A cylindrical cover sleeve 35 is attached to the carrier 4, which protects the tube 12 and thread 14 from contamination during welding and Ent burrs.
The bottlenecks 20 are dimensioned taking into account the inertial mass of the piston 16, 17, the piston 28 serving as brake jaws and the mass of the unit 1, that compressed air introduced into the working space 10a of the chamber 10 first moves the double piston 16, 17, whereby, with the action of an oil filling in the chamber 9, the pistons 28 serving as clamping jaws are pressed outwardly, and only then does the pressure in the chamber 11 rise so far that the unit 1 is driven to the right in the drawing.
The device described is drawn in a tube 29 which is only partially shown. A tube 30, which is also only partially drawn, is welded to the tube 29. The outer welding ridge is designated 31, the inner one 32. The device is shown in the state in which the jaws 28 of the unit 2 are pressed against the inside of the wall of the tube 29 and the unit 1 with the deburring tool 5 is about to perform its work movement.
In the operational state, the chamber 9 is filled with oil and the end of the tube 12 on the right in the drawing is connected to a compressed air source via a line not shown. This line runs through the pipe 30 and out of its open end to the compressed air source, and a manually operated valve is arranged in this line. The device described is mainly intended to remove the inner welding burr after each weld in the manufacture of lines that are composed of numerous pieces of pipe (pipe lines).
The operation of the device is as follows: The device is placed in the pipe 29 in the position shown before this pipe is welded to the pipe 30. In this position, the deburring tool 5 faces the pipe end to be welded and has a distance from this end that is smaller than the length of the groove 26. The pipe 29 is now welded to the pipe 30 by the resistance welding process. Immediately after switching off the welding current and while the tubes 29 and 30 are still under the action of the welding upset pressure and the inner welding burr is still glowing, the valve in the compressed air supply line which is connected to the tube 12 is opened.
Compressed air now occurs in the space 10 a of the chamber 10 located on the right of the piston 16 in the drawing. This compressed air acts directly on the piston 16, so that the piston 17 is pushed into the oil-filled chamber 9, whereby the pistons 28 serving as clamping jaws are pressed against the inner wall of the tube 29. As a result, the unit 2 is clamped in the tube 29. This clamping takes place with a relatively large force because the air pressure in the chamber 10 in the ratio of the squares of the diameter of the pistons 16 and 17 increases as hydrostatic pressure in the chamber 9 acts on the piston 28 serving as clamping jaws.
During the movement of the piston 16, the air from the part of the chamber 10 lying to the left of the piston 16 in the drawing can soften through the bores 34 ent. With a delay occurring as a result of the bottlenecks 20, an overpressure arises in the chamber 11, under the action of which on the end wall 3 the unit 1 is pushed against the force of the springs 24 to the right in the drawing until the lugs 25 are the right one in the drawing Have reached the end of the grooves 26.
During this displacement of the end wall 3, the carrier 4 is carried along with the deburring tool 5, the carrier and the deburring tool executing a screw movement following the thread 14, 15 and the deburring tool 5 removing the glowing, inner weld burr 32. The pipe 12 is then relieved of the compressed air.
The units 1 and 2 take under the action of the springs 24 again the drawn mutual position, and the jaws serving as clamping pistons 28 are released and withdrawn from the mentioned (not shown) springs so far that they do not over the circumference of the Unit 2 protruding. The device is now drawn into the pipe 30 until it assumes the same position in this pipe as it is in the pipe 29 in the drawing. The next tube is then welded to the tube 30 and the weld burr that is produced is removed in the same way as was described for the weld burr 32.
Continuing in the same way, after each weld, the inner weld burr on the pipes welded to one another is removed and the device is retraced into the pipe that was welded on last.
Since the said line must be passed through this pipe when the next pipe to be welded is attached, it is expediently equipped with an easily detachable coupling. The said line itself can serve to pull the device from one pipe to the next, which is welded to it. However, it can also be attached to the tube 12 fasteners, for. B. eyelets attached to: which a chain or rope is attached to pull the device.
The valve in the compressed air supply line, which is connected to the pipe 12, can be automatically opened by the control device of the welding machine after the welding current has been switched off and then closed for a predetermined time.
In both a manually operated and an automatically operated valve, means may be present to relieve the pressure connected to the pipe 12 including this pipe 12 and the rooms connected to it after the deburring process has been carried out.
Instead of supplying compressed air, the pressure in the chamber 11 can also be generated in that an explosive substance is ignited in the chamber 11.
Notwithstanding the embodiment described and drawn, it is possible to dispense with a rotary movement of the deburring tool. In a corresponding device, a planer-like deburring tool is attached to the front wall 3. The carrier 4, the axial ball bearing 6 and the thread 14 are then superfluous.
