Fig. 3 zeigt das um das Lager5 und das Dich tungsorgan15 herum befestigte Lagergehäuse 12.
Sealing element on bearings The invention relates to a sealing element on bearings.
The most effective seals have a sealing surface in contact with a relatively movable element, the seal being under considerable specific pressure in order to cause its sealing surface to rest against the cooperating surface of the element. The service life and effectiveness of the seal are endangered by the seal pressure, since the sealing surface would run dry in a completely sealing system, which leads to the formation of scars on the sealing surface and rapid destruction of the seal.
In order to avoid damage to the sealing by running dry, a lubricant must be provided for the sealing surfaces at least during the running-in period.
The sealing element according to the present invention is characterized by a fastening part and a sealing part, which are connected to one another by a flexible membrane to form a single part Form piece with axial and radial flanges zLi,
wherein one of the sealing flanges has an end surface for radial contact with a circumferential member and another of the sealing flanges has an end surface which is to receive an axial sealing contact with a fixed member only after the first-mentioned flange has been worn to a certain degree, and through a groove between the radially acting sealing flange and the membrane in order to increase the flexibility of the radially acting sealing flange with respect to the membrane.
Embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawings. It shows: Fig. 1 in a vertical cross section a seal arranged on the inner ring of a bearing, e C with the rollers not touching the outer ring. Fig. 2 shows in a similar vertical cross section as Fig. 1 the rollers in running contact with the outer ring.
Fig. 3 shows in a similar vertical cross section as Fig. 2, the seal and the bearing enclosed in a housing and ready for initial operation.
Ficr. 4 shows the normal operating position of the seal after the run-in period in a similar vertical cross-section as FIG. 3.
The invention is shown, for example, in application to a rotatable axle or shaft 1 which has a stronger end part 2 and an end part 3 separated from it via a shoulder 4. A tapered roller bearing 5 is mounted on the stepped part 3 , which has an inner ring 6 and an outer ring 7 with several , roller 8 cones arranged in between. The rollers 8 are arranged in the openings of a cage 9 , the large end ring 10 of which over the thrust rib 11 </ B > of the inner ring 6 protrudes.
The outer ring 7 of the bearing is mounted in a bearing housing 12 (FIGS. 3 and 4), which has an annular inner wall or bore that extends into an annular vertical wall 14 übergzht.
The La, -er shown has an elastic, ring-shaped sealing member 15 for holding the lubricant in the bearing 5 and for keeping dirt and moisture away from it. The sealing member 15 has an annular fastening part 16 and an annular sealing part 17 as well as a web part or a membrane connecting these two parts B> 18.
The fastening part 16 has a radial flange 20 and an axial flange 21 formed in one piece with it. To fix the sealing element 15 with respect to the bearing 5 , a fastening organ 22 can be provided, which is arranged in a press fit on the C thrust rib 11 of the inner ring 6 .
The fastening element 22 is approximately U-shaped in cross section and can be pressed or vulcanized into the flanges 20 and 21 of the fastening part 16 and a means for producing a seal between the fastening part 16 / B> and the inner ring 6 . When the bearing 5 and the sealing member 15 are arranged on the shaft 1 , the inner ring 6 of the bearing becomes 5 mounted on the offset end part 3 of the shaft 1 and the end of its thrust rib lies on the shoulder 4 of the shaft 1 </ B> on.
The inner edges of the radial flange 20 and the radial part of the fastening element 22 are arranged in the area of the thicker end part 2 of the shaft 1. The sealing element 15 is rotatably connected to the shaft 1 by the arrangement of its fastening part 16 on the inner ring 6 .
The web part or the membrane 18 is formed on the axial flange 21 of the fastening part 16 in the plane of the radial flange 20 and it extends radially outward from there. The outer peripheral part of the web part 18 merges into the sealing part 17 , so that the fastening part 16 and the sealing part 17 > Are connected to a one-piece, ring-shaped sealing organ.
The annular sealing part 17 of the sealing member 15 has an axial sealing ring or flange 25 , one end of which into the membrane 18 </ B > passes over, while a sealing lip or annular surface 26 is seen at its free end in the area of the outer ring 7 . In the area of the membrane 18 , an annular sealing ring or flange 27 acting in the radial direction projects obliquely from the sealing rina 25 ; 28 has. The functions of the sealing rings 25 and 27 are explained below.
Between the so-. radial sealing flange 27 and the membrane 18 of the sealing member 15 a V-shaped annular groove 30 is provided, which the bend the radial sealing flange compared to the membrane 18 increased. Another annular groove 31 is provided between the axial sealing flange 25 and the radial sealing flange 27 and holds the lubricant for the sealing lips 26 </ B> and 28 during the operation of the seal.
The axial sealing flange 25 stands radially at a distance from the axial flange 21 of the fastening part 16 so that in the area of the rollers 8 a circumferential opening < B> 32 is present, in which the lubricant for the La, -er 5 is held and which has a running space for the large end ring 10 of the conical bearing cage 9 creates.
When the elastic sealing element 15 according to FIG. 1 is in its normal, relieved position, the radial sealing ring 27 extends outwards, The annular surface 28 at its outer end has a larger diameter than the inner wall or bore 13 of the bearing housing 12 (indicated by dashed lines). In addition, the sealing lip 26 of the axial sealing ring 25 rests on a front-side counter-sealing surface 35 of the outer ring 7 , see above that this is kept away from the operating position opposite the rollers 8 .
In FIG. 2 the bearing 5 and the sealing member 15 are arranged on the axis 1 and is the outer ring 7 < / B> has been moved into the operating position with rollers 8 . In this position, the outer ring 7 exerts an axial pressure on the sealing member 15 via the axial sealing ring 25 , so that the membrane 18 something is deformed. This pressure between the outer ring 7 and the sealing element 15 represents the sealing pressure of the axial sealing ring 25 during actual operation, as will be explained below .
Fig. 3 shows the bearing housing 12 fastened around the bearing 5 and the sealing element 15. This causes the radial sealing ring B> 27 due to the radial interference of the inner wall 13 of the bearing housing 12 with the annular surface 28 is pressed inward. The vertical ring wall 14 of the bearing housing 12 is designed in such a way that it rests against the larger end of the outer ring 7 and thereby holds the housing in the operating position opposite the rollers 8.
When the radial sealing flange 27 is pressed inward, the membrane 18 is further deformed, so that it exerts a radial outward pressure on the radial sealing flange 27 and be has the effect that its sealing lip 28 rests against the inner wall 13 of the bearing housing 12 in a sealing manner.
This deformation of the membrane 18 moves the sealing lip 26 of the axial sealing flange 25 out of contact with the outer ring 7 , so that a gap 33 is created between these two parts, which connects the circumferential opening 32 with the annular space 31 , so that lubricant can pass between the two . The space or gap 33 between the sealing lip 26 and the outer ring 7 naturally remains as long as the radial pressure between the ring surface 28 and the bearing housing 12 is present.
3 and 4 explain the relationship of the sealing organ 15 with respect to the bearing 5 before the start of operation and in the normal operating position. When the axis 1 is put into operation for the first time, the inner ring 6 and the sealing element 15 rotate with it, thereby causing a relative rotation between the Sealing lips 26 and 28 and the parts of the frontal sealing surface 35 of the outer ring 7 and the inner wall which interact with them B> 13 of the bearing housing 12.
The inner wall is relatively rough for the sealing system; the radial pressure of the annular surface 28 lying thereon causes a rapid lapping effect, whereby the radial pressure between the inner wall 13 and the sealing lip 28 is reduced . The tension in the web part 18 also decreases and allows an axial movement of the sealing flange 25 towards the outer ring 7 up to its sealing lip 26 has made a sealing contact with the front sealing surface 35 .
The axial pressure between the sealing lip 26 and the outer ring 7 naturally develops slowly to the extent that the pressure between the annular surface 28 and the bearing housing 12 becomes smaller, so that sufficient There is time to rub off every roughness of the sealing lip 26 before the full sealing pressure is developed between the lip 26 and the outer ring 7 .
In addition, the passage of the lubricant through the intermediate space 33, causes the sealing lip 26 to be lubricated while it is gently rubbing against the outer ring 7 </ B > has been smoothed so that the sealing lip 26 has been lubricated for a long period of use if the full pressure is present between these parts.
The invention also includes all changes and modifications of the embodiment shown here within its scope.
