Die erfindungsgemässe Steuereinrichtung soll an schliessend anhand der beinliegenden Zeichnungen beispielsweise näher erläutert werden. Im einzelnen zeigen Fig. 1 eine schematische Darstellung einer kom binierten Steuereinrichtung für automatischen und Handbetrieb ; Fig. 2 einen Längsschnitt durch den Hilfsservo- motor der in Fig. 1 dargestellten Einrichtung;
Fig. 3 einen Schnitt durch den in Fig. 2 darge stellten Servomotor entlang der Linie 3-3 ; Fig. 4 einen Schnitt durch den in Fig. 2 darge stellten Hilfsservomotor entlang der Linie 4-4 ;
Combined aircraft control device for automatic operation and manual operation The present invention relates to a combined aircraft control device for automatic operation and manual operation, with a device for damping unwanted aircraft movements caused by suddenly occurring atmospheric disturbances, which damping device can be switched on or off during manual operation, with a main servo motor,
whose movable output part is connected to a control surface, with a control member which has a first part which surrounds a second part and is movable relative to this, wherein the relative movement between these two parts controls the main servomotor, with an auxiliary servomotor, the has a first movable member, which is surrounded by a second movable member, with a manually operated control member and an automatically operating control signal source,
which can control the auxiliary servo motor.
The control device according to the invention is characterized in that when the automatic operation is started, a first locking device locks the second movable control element of the auxiliary servomotor connected to the manual control element with the movable output part of the main servomotor,
that when setting to manual operation with the damping device switched off, a second locking device locks the first movable member with the second movable member of the auxiliary motor and that means are available to disable both locking devices in manual operation with the damping device switched on.
The control device according to the invention will then be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, for example. In detail, Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of a com bined control device for automatic and manual operation; FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section through the auxiliary servo motor of the device shown in FIG. 1;
Fig. 3 is a section through the servo motor shown in Fig. 2 Darge along the line 3-3; Fig. 4 is a section through the auxiliary servomotor shown in Fig. 2 Darge along the line 4-4;
Fig. 5 is a section through the auxiliary servomotor shown in Fig. 2 Darge along the line 5-5 in Fig. 2. In the interest of a brief illustration, the system for height control will be described only Lich; It goes without saying that additional systems for controlling the ailerons and rudders can be provided, which are designed similarly to the control device shown.
In Fig. 1, a control surface 10 is shown schematically, which is used, for example, as an elevator to control the altitude of the aircraft. The control surface 10 is connected to a hydraulic control device by a linkage 12. This control device includes a main servo motor 16 which consists of a movable cylinder 18 which is directly connected to the linkage 12 and a stationary piston 20 which is attached to a stationary part of the aircraft frame, as shown for example at 22.
As will be shown in detail, the main servo 16 can be controlled either manually by means of the control column 24 or by means of an automatic control 28, the so-called automatic pilot.
There is also a damping device 26 easily see which can be either on or off during manual operation and automatic operation. The damping device 26 and the automatic control or the autopilot 28 are here in known devices, as they are generally used in automatic or semi-automatic controls. The damping control 26 is designed such that it corrects the movements of the aircraft generated, for example, by sudden gusts of air, i.e. H. dampens.
Since these aircraft movements have a high frequency compared to the control movements of the autopilot or the hand control and therefore cannot be compensated by this immediately, the fault signal emitted by the damping control 26 is superimposed on the autopilot or the hand control, whereby the necessary corrections of the control are made . The autopilot 28, however, keeps the aircraft on a predetermined path and automatically corrects deviations.
Details can be found, for example, in the book Feed back Control Systems by Gille, Pelegrin & Decaulne, pages 12-14. The book was published in 1959 by Mc Graw Hill.
At the points of the entire device at which the pressurized hydraulic Me medium is supplied, an arrow P indicating the direction of supply is shown. In a similar way, an arrow marked with S is entered at the points where the hydraulic medium flows into a collecting vessel.
The main servo motor 16 works under the direct influence of a control slide 30, which has a slide part 32 which has three collars and which is arranged in a housing 34 so as to be displaceable in the longitudinal direction. The arrangement is such that the pressurized medium at the supply nozzle 36 can reach one of the channels 38 or 40, which end on opposite sides of the drive piston 20.
The channel not connected to the pressure source is connected to an outflow line 37. Which of the two channels is connected to the pressure source and which is connected to the drain depends on the position of the slide part 32, i. H.
of which side of the zero position shown is the water slide part. The control slide 30 is actuated by a connecting rod 41 which is mechanically connected to a hydraulic auxiliary servomotor, which is designated by 42 in FIG. 1. The auxiliary hydraulic servo motor 42 is attached to the movable part 18 of the main servo motor example, by bolts 46 or the like.
The details of the auxiliary servo motor 42 will then be explained in more detail with reference to FIGS. 2-5.
As can be seen from FIG. 2, the auxiliary servo motor 42 contains a piston 48 which is directly connected to the element 44 which represents the output and which is guided in a cylinder 50 to be movable in the longitudinal direction. The cylinder 50 is in turn guided movably in the same direction in the housing 52 of the entire auxiliary servomotor. The supply and discharge of the hydraulic medium is controlled by a control slide 54 (Fig. 2-5).
This control slide 54 is located in the housing 52 and is supplied with the pressurized hydraulic medium via a line 56, which is also provided in the housing 52 if. The slide 54 is arranged in such a way that it can be pulled in each direction by an electromagnet 58 or 59.
The electromagnets 58 and 59 are electrically connected to one another in such a way that only one can be actuated by control signals which are picked up by a two-stage electrical amplifier 53 (FIG. 1). The electrical amplifier receives input signals either from the damping device 26 alone or together with the automatic pilot 28, as will be explained in more detail below.
The electromagnets 58 and 59 contain means (not shown), which rule the control slide 54 in a central position when it is not operated by one of the two electric magnets.
The supply channel 56 for the control slide 54 is connected to any suitable pressure source for the hydraulic medium via a slide 61 which is actuated by an electromagnet 63, as can best be seen from FIG. As shown, the control slide valve 61 allows the pressurized medium to flow from an inflow line 65 into the channel 56 when the electromagnet 63 is excited. On the other hand, the slide 61 connects the channel 56 with the drain line 67 when the electromagnet 63 is not energized.
The electromagnet 63 is controlled by a manually operable selector switch 69 (FIG. 1), as will be described later.
From the description given so far, it is evident that when the electromagnet 63 is excited, the pressurized hydraulic medium passes through the control slide 61 and via the channel 56 to the control slide 54. Depending on the position of the control slide 54 given by the respective excitation of the connected electromagnets 58 and 59, the latter either blocks the channel 56 or connects this channel to the channels 70a or 70b, which lead to opposite sides of the piston 48. The arrangement is such that the channel that conducts the medium displaced by the piston 48 is connected to the collecting vessel for the hydraulic medium via a wide channel 70c.
A movement of the piston 48, which is caused by a pressure difference on its opposite sides, acts a corresponding movement of the control slide switch 30 and thus also of the main servo motor 16, in a direction which depends on the direction of the stop of the control slide 54 is, the stop direction of which again from the elec tromagneten 58 and 59 is dependent. The position of the control or rudder surface 10 is thus directly dependent on the input signals of these electromagnets.
It should be pointed out that the control slide valve 54 and the electromagnets 58 and 59 are arranged in such a way that their axes are perpendicular to the direction of movement of the main servo motor 16. This is important because the housing 52, due to its direct connection to the main servo motor, is exposed to forces-n when the same mass moves.
If the axes of the control slide and the electromagnets were in the direction of movement of the cylinder 18 of the main servo motor, an acceleration of the housing of the hydraulic auxiliary servo motor as a result of a movement of the cylinder 18 of the servo motor 16 would cause a reaction to this auxiliary servo motor, which in particular the entire arrangement would then make unstable if the drive is used to move a large inertial mass.
In the illustrated hydraulic arrangement, this difficulty is easily and effectively overcome in that the axes of the control slide 54 and the electromagnets are arranged at right angles to the direction of movement of the main servo motor. By a potentiometer 71 or a similar electrical switching element, a feedback signal indicating the position of the piston 48 in the cylinder 50 is generated.
In the example shown, this potentiometer 71 is attached to one end of the cylinder 50 by means of a fork-shaped part 73. If the potentiometer is designed as a rotary potentiometer, its drive shaft 75 is connected to the piston rod 44 by means of any device which is able to convert a translational movement into a rotational movement. The corresponding device shown includes an arm 77,
one end of which is fastened to the shaft 75 of the potentiometer and the other end of which is in engagement with a pin 79 which is provided in the piston rod 44. When the piston 48 moves relative to the cylinder 50, the shaft 75 of the potentiometer 71 is rotated accordingly so that it generates an electrical feedback signal which is a measure of the position of the piston in the cylinder.
This feedback signal is transmitted to the electrical Ver stronger 53 and subtracted here from the input signal of the damping device and the automatic pilots. The feedback signal, which is dependent on the position in the above-mentioned manner, thus closes the inner hydraulic circuit, which comprises the hydraulic auxiliary servomotor 42 and either the damping device or the automatic pilot or both, in order to stabilize the hydraulic system.
As can best be seen from FIGS. 1, 2 and 4, a rod 82 is connected to the control column 24, which is connected to the cylinder 50 via a fork-shaped coupling element 73, so that the position of the control column of the respective Stel - Development of the control surface 10 corresponds, as will be explained in detail in more detail.
Furthermore, with tel are provided for locking, which are denoted by 83 in FIG. The lock is used to lock the control column and the hydraulic cylinder 50 with respect to the piston 48 and the piston rod 44 in a central position in order to put the auxiliary servo motor during the manual operation bes with or without an amplifier out of operation.
The device for locking 83 contains a locking piston 85 which is slidably guided in a housing 87 Ge. The housing 87 is net angeord at one end of the hydraulic cylinder 50, specifically at a point where the piston rod 44 is also located. The four-lock piston 85 is pressed upwards by a compression spring 89,
the piston, as a result of the action of this spring, protrudes with its upper end into a recess 91 in the piston rod 44 in such a way that the piston rod is locked in a central position with respect to the cylinder 50.
The surfaces of the upper piston part 93 and the recess 91 that come into contact with one another are preferably shaped in such a way that they have both cylindrical and conical parts, as is shown in FIG.
When the spring 85 moves the locking piston upwards, the conical part of the upper piston part 93 first comes into contact with the corresponding surfaces of the recess 91, so that the piston rod 44 and the hydraulic piston 48 are locked with respect to the cylinder 50.
The cylindrical wall parts of the locking piston and the recess then come into contact with one another, so that the two parts are locked and strong forces can easily be absorbed without releasing the lock.
The locking piston 85 can be moved downward against the action of the spring 89 by hydraulic pressure. The hydraulic pressure required for this is fed to the upper end of the housing 87 via a line 95 (FIGS. 1 and 2) which is connected to the line 56 between the control slide and the slide 61.
Thus, when the slide 61 is actuated by the excitation of the electromagnet 63 and the pressurized medium reaches the supply line 56, the medium is also transferred to the lock 83 through the line 95. The medium presses the piston 85 down here,
so that there is no longer any connection between this and the piston rod 44. In this position, a relative movement between the piston 44 and the cylinder 50 is again possible.
If the electrical system fails for any reason, the electromagnet 63 of the slide valve 61 is not energized, so that the pressure line through the slide is interrupted. In this case, no pressure can reach the locking device 83 through the line 95.
Thus, if the hydraulic pressure decreases during the lock either due to failure of the electrical system or failure of the pressure source, the occurs immediately. Locking device in force and locks the piston 48 of the hydraulic auxiliary servomotor with the associated cylinder. Changes in the position of the control column 24 are then made directly through the mechanical connection between the hydraulic auxiliary servo motor and the slide 30 of the
Main servomotor 16 transmitted, so that in this way it is automatically switched to manual mode with amplification by the main servomotor.
In FIGS. 3 and 4, 97 further locking means are designated, which serve to connect the cylinder 50 of the hydraulic auxiliary motor to the housing 52 of this servo motor during the fully automatic operation of the system. As can best be seen from Fig. 4, the locking means 97 with the housing 52 are a related party.
They contain two mutually directed pistons 99 and 101, the piston rods 103 of which lie on the opposite sides of a projection 105 which is firmly connected to the piston 50 or consists of one piece therewith. Both pistons 99 and 101 can be under the action of the pressure which is transmitted into the associated cylinder via a line 107.
This line is connected either to a pressure source via line 113 or to the collecting container via line 115, depending on the position of a relay control slide 109 which is actuated by an electromagnet 111. This electric magnet 111 can, as is well known, be ausgebil det.
The locking device 97 connects the control column 24 and the cylinder 50 directly to the housing 52 of the auxiliary servomotor and via this housing to the cylinder 18 of the main servomotor 16 and the control surface 10.
The device 97 thus ensures that on the one hand no disruptive influences are caused by the control column 24 during the fully automatic operation, and on the other hand that the control column precisely follows all movements of the automatic control, so that the pilot can determine the position of the control surface 10 is informed.
As already mentioned, the control system described is designed in such a way that every safety is given, i. H. that manual control can be carried out at any time and regardless of the operating mode currently switched on. For this purpose, the effective areas of the pistons 99 and 101 of the locking device 97 are preferably measured in such a way that the pilot has the opportunity to move the control column 24 against the locking force of the pistons. to operate.
In such a way before the pressurized medium, wel Ches is located behind the piston, is pressed back by the pilot through the inflow line 107 against the pressure of the pressure source. The pilot is thus able, with the fully automatic control switched on, to bring about a manual control with amplification by exerting sufficient pressure on the control column to overcome the pressure of the locking device 91 and directly affect the control slide 30 rivers.
In all operating modes, the aim must be that manual control without amplification is possible in the event of a pressure drop in the hydraulic system. Since the main servo motor 16 is arranged directly between the control column 24 and the rudder 10, it is necessary to provide means which side be the hy draulischen residual pressure in the main servo motor and establish a connection between the spaces from and to the piston 20, if the desired Result is to be achieved.
For this purpose there is a shunt line 117 between the inflow lines 38 and 40, which connects the opposite sides of the cylinder 18 to one another. The flow through this bypass line 117 is controlled by a spring-pressurized piston 119 which is located in a cylinder which interrupts the bypass line as shown. One end of this cylinder is connected via a passage 121 to the source of hydraulic pressure, which also feeds the control slide 30.
When the pressure required to actuate the control slide is present, the piston 119 is also pushed upwards against the spring force, so that the bypass line is interrupted. If, however, the corresponding hydraulic pressure is not available, the piston 119 is pressed down by the spring, so that the bypass path 117 is opened and the medium located between the two sides of the cylinder 18 is freely between can move both rooms. If the pressure of the hydraulic medium to move the control surface 10 should not be sufficient, the manual operation is not hindered by a residual pressure that could still be found in the lines.
As can be seen from Fig. 1, a manually operated selector switch 69 is provided, which has a switchboard with three. Has contacts. The connections are arranged in such a way that the position 1, i.e. H. in manual mode, no electrical element of the system is switched on, so that the control mixes amplification by manual mode. When the switch is in position 2, the system works by manual operation with amplification and attenuation, i.e. H. In this switch position, the electromagnet 63, the damping device 26 and the electrical amplifier 53 are switched on.
The system now works in manual mode with amplification and automatic damping of suddenly occurring undesired aircraft movements. When the switch is in the position 3, the automatic control device 28, the damping device 26, the stronger 53 and the electromagnets 63 and 111 are switched on, so that a fully automatic operation is set, the control by this Si Signals of the course control device 28 and the stabilizing signals of the damping device 26 he follows.
Mode of operation In manual operation with amplification but without damping, the selector switch 69 is in position 1, as shown in FIG. 1. The electromagnets 63 and 111 are not energized and the corresponding relay slides are in a central position so that no pressurized medium acts on the locking devices 83 and 97.
The locking device 83 thus connects to the piston 48 and the cylinder 50 of the hydraulic auxiliary servomotor with each other, so that this auxiliary servomotor is put out of operation. With these prerequisites, every movement of the control column 24 is transmitted directly to the piston rod 44 of the hydraulic auxiliary servo motor and to the control slide 30, which controls the main servo motor 16. This therefore works under the direct influence of the tax column.
The possibility of oversteering by the pilot is small in this case. Since the slide housing 34 is firmly connected to the movable part 18 of the main servomotor and the slide part 32 is directly connected to the control column, every movement of the slide part 32 causes the cylinder 18 and thus the slide housing 34 to follow suit.
With this as well as with the other modes of operation described below, direct manual control is possible if the hydraulic pressure fails. In this case, the control is maintained by one or more mechanical connections between the steering column and the rudder surfaces that are always present.
The connection for d: @esen case, d. H. in manual mode without amplifier, there is either the control slide 30, in which the spool 32 has only limited freedom of movement in the cylinder 34, or the locking device 97, which regardless of whether it is in operation or not, only limited relative movement between the housing 52 this hydraulic booster and the cylinder 50 allows.
Regardless of which of these possible connections is used, the parts that are selected for this purpose can be dimensioned so that there is only a small amount of play in the connection and thus a satisfactory control of the aircraft through the control column directly possible is.
For manual operation with damping, i.e. when controlled by the control column 24 with superimposed correction signals from the damping signal source 26, the switch 69 is brought to position 2 so that the damping device 26, the electrical amplifier 53 and the electromagnet 63 are in operation. By energizing the electric magnet 63, the relay control slide 61 is adjusted in such a way that the pressurized medium can reach the control slide 54 of the hydraulic auxiliary servomotor.
The electromagnets 58 and 59 are then excited by the damping device 26 via the electrical amplifier 53. The excitation of the electromagnet 63 continues to
that the pressurized medium reaches the locking device 83 and the connection between the piston 48 and the cylinder 50 is interrupted. Since the piston 48 moves in the absence of correction signals from the damping device 26 on the control slide 54 with the cylinder 50, movements of the control column 24 are practically transmitted directly to the control slide 30 via the piston rod 44.
When the damping device 26 is working and the movements of the control column are superimposed with correction signals, however, a relative movement occurs between the piston 48 and the cylinder 50 surrounding it. The correction signals serve to compensate for movements of the flight caused by gusts or other sudden atmospheric disturbances.
During manual operation with damping, the electrical element 71 delivers a position-dependent feedback signal which shows the movement of the piston 48 of the hydraulic auxiliary servomotor with respect to the associated cylinder 50.
This signal is used to complete the inner hydraulic circuit, which also includes the damping device 26, the booster 53 and the hydraulic control slide 54. The feedback for the external hydraulic circuit, which includes the main servo motor 16, is brought about by the aircraft itself, since every change in altitude causes a change in the output signal of the damping device 26.
If the system works fully automatically, i. H. is automatically controlled by the autopilot or another source, the selector switch 69 is in position 3, so that the damping device 26, the automatic control device 28 and the electrical amplifier 53 are switched on,
Furthermore, both electromagnets 63 and 111. The hydraulic auxiliary servomotor 42 is influenced here not only by the correction signals from the damping device 26, but also by the control signals from the automatic control device 28. The signals of the devices 26 and 28 are in the electrical amplifier 53 before the transmission to the hydraulic amplifier, i. H. mixed before transfer to the electromagnets 58 and 59.
When the electromagnet 111 is excited, the locking means 97 are actuated by the pressure which reaches the ends of the piston 103 via the control slide 109, so that both pistons are pushed inward. In this case, whoever transferred all movements of the control surface 10 and the servo motor via the locking device directly to the control column. The pilot is thus able to follow all movements of the control surface of the aircraft, even when the system is working completely automatically.
Since the locking means 97 exert only a very small force on the control column, the pilot can simultaneously actuate the control column and thereby make a correction to the control, whereby he only has to exert sufficient pressure on the control column, one of the locking pistons 99 or 101 to move so far that the corre sponding correction to the control slide 30 of the main servo motor 16 reaches.
As already mentioned, a failure of the electrical system causes an automatic switch to manual operation with amplification, while a failure of the hydraulic system causes an automatic switch to fully manual operation without amplification. In any case, the pilot can also bring about the necessary changes in the way the system works, so that there is always a possibility of manual control if one of the connections described is destroyed.
