Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Electrical device that can be switched remotely with the help of a ripple control system In order to regulate the load on the power supply network, which reaches maximum values at certain times of the day, it is known to switch off certain consumers at the times of greatest energy demand with the help of ripple control systems. Expediently, only those loads are selected for such disconnection measures in which the brief absence of voltage is not immediately noticeable.
Above all, hot water storage tanks are used to switch off, as these devices already have a certain amount of energy and do not necessarily have to be connected to the network during times of greatest network load. In the previously known remote-controlled hot water storage tanks, the remote control receiver, which caused the storage to be disconnected from the network in response to a command given by a control center, was arranged as a special device in the vicinity of the storage tank.
Apart from the wiring work, such an arrangement is also disadvantageous because, by bypassing the ripple control receiver, there is the possibility of negating the intended effect by bridging the ripple control receiver switching contacts.
The invention relates to an electrical device that can be remotely switched with the aid of a ripple control system and is characterized by the fact that the ripple control receiver provided for operating the device in question is built into the device. The ripple control receiver is expediently accommodated in the space provided anyway for the manual switch and the automatic temperature control devices. A secure lock is advantageous to protect against unauthorized access.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention will be described with the aid of the drawing: The hot water storage tank 1, the fitting 2 of which is only indicated, has a manual switch 6 with which it can be switched on or off or set to a certain preselectable temperature value. The space 3, indicated by dashed lines, in which the electrical switch parts (not shown) and the automatic temperature control elements (not shown) are accommodated, is designed so that a normal ripple control receiver has space in it. For the sake of clarity, the recipient is also not shown.
The space 3 is closed to the outside by a flap 4 pivotable about a hinge 5 and protected against unauthorized access by a seal 7.
The particular advantage of this arrangement is primarily to be seen in the fact that by accommodating the ripple control receiver in the hot water storage tank, an additional housing is saved. At the same time, the simplified electrical installation, which does not require any external connecting lines between the two devices, makes the entire system cheaper. Finally, the protection against unauthorized access is a significant improvement in terms of functional reliability compared to the known remote-controlled hot water storage tanks.
