Arbeitet man z.
Process for the production of aromatic hydrocarbons
Processes for the production of aromatic hydrocarbons from 2,2,4-trimethylpentane and 2,4,4-trimethylpentane are described in the patents Nos. 331507 and 330476, according to which these hydrocarbons can be converted over solid catalysts at higher temperatures in the presence or absence of carrier gases directs. Hydrogen and, or isobutylene, have been specified as particularly suitable carrier gases. For example, 2,2,4-trimethylpentane and / or 2,4,4-trimethylpentene-1 and / or 2,4,4-trimethylpentene-2 can be converted into p-xylene.
In the processes mentioned, p-xylene is obtained in a concentration of about 10-20% by weight of the resulting liquid products, which corresponds to a yield in one pass of about 815%, based on the starting product used.
If the aromatic hydrocarbons are produced using carrier gases, the work-up can be considerably simplified if, instead of the carrier gases mentioned, benzene or a homologous hydrocarbon, that is to say an alkyl-substituted hydrocarbon, is used as the diluent.
The inventive method for the preparation of aromatic hydrocarbons from aliphatic, saturated or olefinic hydrocarbons containing at least 6 carbon atoms is characterized in that these hydrocarbons are in vapor form in the presence of aromatization catalysts and in the presence of benzene and / or homologues of benzene as a diluent in a Flavored at a temperature of 4506500 C.
The diluents should be largely stable under the reaction conditions and must not react with either the starting or the end products. Their boiling points should be such that working up the reaction products by distillation presents no difficulties. Benzene fulfills this condition in an almost ideal way.
When using the substances proposed according to the invention, in particular benzene, as a diluent, it was surprisingly found that, compared to comparable tests with hydrogen or hydrocarbons with 1-4 carbon atoms as the carrier gas, the proportion of cracking products that can no longer be used for the reaction is reduced and thus the yields are increased.
Benzene is used as the diluent, and benzene homologues such as toluene, p-xylene, ethylbenzene, pseudocumene, propylbenzene, cumene, cymene, butylbenzene, etc. are also used - provided they meet the requirements set out above. Of the homologues, those aromatic hydrocarbons which only contain methyl and / or t-butyl groups are mainly suitable. It is often advantageous to use the substance as a diluent which is to be produced in the aromatization reaction in question. In the case of the production of benzene, both pure benzene and part of the crude reaction product can be used as diluent. If benzene is used as a carrier gas in the production of p-xylene, it can be crystallized from the liquid product together with p-xylene by cooling.
Pure p-xylene and pure benzene can be obtained from the crystals by distillation.
The present process is particularly important for the preparation of p-xylene because this compound is of particular technical interest. In this case, too, you can p-xylene or part of the reaction mixture - z. B. use without prior Frak tioning or after a simple distillation as a diluent. The unchanged starting material still contained in the reaction product is then also flavored and the p-xylene can be separated particularly easily from the part of the reaction product that is not reused because of its high concentration.
The method according to the invention gives good results regardless of the space-time load used. However, it is particularly advantageous to work with a space-time loading of 0.1.0.9 liters of liquid hydrocarbon to be cracked per liter of contact space and hour. It is also particularly advantageous to work with a dilution of at least 1 mol, preferably about 2-4 mol, of the hydrocarbon used.
The reaction according to the invention is carried out at temperatures from 450 to 6500 ° C., preferably from 520 to 5900 ° C., in the presence of known aromatization catalysts. As such come z. B. products in question, which are made of metal oxides of VI. Group of the Periodic Table and / or mixed compounds and / or mixtures of these oxides with one another or with oxides of titanium, zirconium, thorium or vanadium, optionally with the addition of platinum or palladium metal, with or without oxides of III. Group of the periodic table as carrier substances, with or without oxides of the alkali and / or the alkaline earth group and / or the groups of rare earths as activators.
Chromium oxide / aluminum oxide catalysts can be used as catalysts. Chromium oxide / potassium oxide / cerium oxide / 7-aluminum oxide catalysts in which the ratio of chromium oxide / potassium oxide / cerium oxide / y-aluminum oxide is between 5-40 / 1-10 / 0.5-5 / 93.5-450 / 0 can fluctuate. Of these, the composition 12.1 / 1.7 / 1.5 / 84.7 is advantageously used. It is also possible to use catalysts made of chromium oxide / aluminum oxide and platinum or palladium metal. For example, the catalysts described in Patent No. 331,507 are suitable. The yield of aromatic hydrocarbons also depends on the temperature and the contact time.
When the temperature rises, the degree of flavor increases. At the same time, as the temperature rises, the cleavage increases, so that less starting material is recovered and thus the yield is reduced compared to working at lower temperatures.
The influence of the contact time on the conversion is basically the same as the influence of temperature. If the residence time of the substance vapor in the contact space is increased while the temperature remains unchanged, both the degree of aromatization and the degree of cleavage increase. The increase in cleavage predominates, so that the yield of aromatic hydrocarbons in the liquid product becomes smaller. If the temperature is increased with a shortened residence time in such a way that both factors just compensate for each other with regard to the cleavage, an increased flavoring effect is achieved.
However, the contact time in which cyclization, isomerization and aromatization should take place by dehydrogenation cannot be shortened arbitrarily, since if the shortening is too great, the dehydrogenation does not progress sufficiently. The reaction according to the invention can therefore be carried out at temperatures of 450 to 6500 ° C. and contact times of 0.1 to 60 seconds, contact times of 1 to 12 seconds being advantageously used.
It is important that the aromatization according to the invention is carried out with the exclusion of moisture, including traces. Do you work z. B. with moving catalyst and after it has passed through the reactor, successively a regenerator, which is charged with air, and a reductor charged with hydrogen or other reducing gases, so the catalyst adsorbs some of the water formed, thereby increasing its aromatization activity rapidly decreasing.
In order to remove this coating of the catalyst with steam, it is therefore advisable to dry it by passing a purge gas (e.g. nitrogen) over it before the start of the reaction. It is also useful to dry both the starting product and the diluent. The initial vapor mixture should not contain more than 0.05 vol. O / o water.
The starting materials used are saturated or olefinic aliphatic hydrocarbons with at least 6 carbon atoms, preferably not more than 16 carbon atoms, e.g. B. hexane, heptane, octane, decane, dodecane, both the normal hydrocarbons and the branched hydrocarbons such as triisobutene or tetrapropylene. For the preparation of p-xylene it is particularly advantageous to use diisobutylene, triisobutylene, their hydrogenation products or mixtures thereof as starting products.
Example 1 Over 100 cm3 of a contact which was produced in a known manner by impregnating γ-aluminum oxide with a solution of chromic acid, potassium nitrate and cerium nitrate, calcined at 5509 C for 5 hours and reduced in a stream of hydrogen and 14.7 O / o Cr, 1 .73 o / o K and 0.46 ovo Ce, a mixture of 51.4 g / h of diisobutylene and 105 g / h of benzene was passed at 5500 ° C. In the course of one hour, 137.9 g of liquid product with a p-xylene content of 17 g, corresponding to 350% of theory, were obtained in a single pass, based on the diisobutylene used.
In addition to small amounts of toluene, o- and m-xylene, the liquid product contains 98 / o of the benzene used. The rest mainly consists of diisobutylene. Benzene and diisobutylene can be used again. The same applies to the toluene formed in the reaction, which thus partially compensates for the loss of benzene.
The carbon deposition on the contact is less than 0.5 5 / o, based on the diisobutylene used.
Example 2 A mixture of 51.4 g / h of diisobutylene and 124 g / h of toluene was passed over 100 cm of the same contact as in Example 1 at 550 ° C. After one hour, 152 g of liquid product were obtained, 16.5 g of which were p-xylene, that is 33.90 / 0 of the theory of the diisobutylene used.
