Description
Massageapparat
Massage machine
In the case of peripheral circulatory disorders, heat application is generally very poorly tolerated.
The reason for this is that the supply of heat is known to cause an increase in metabolism. The metabolism also increases under the influence of heat and consumes more oxygen and at the same time also generates much more degradation products and waste products. If the blood circulation in an extremity is reduced due to vascular disease, this increase in metabolism and metabolism cannot be compensated for by increasing the blood supply. The consequence of this is that in such a limb, under the influence of the supply of heat, there is increased ischemia and an oxygen deficiency. At the same time, degradation products also accumulate to a greater extent. This creates or increases pain.
The patients who suffer from circulatory disorders are therefore more likely to let the diseased limb cool down, whether by covering the limb or by putting it in cold water. This cooling lowers the metabolism in the affected limb and at the same time also alleviates the pain. This observation has led to the fact that, in some cases of peripheral vascular diseases, the diseased limb was severely cooled by the application of ice and the like. Such a cooling of the limb is, however, a double-edged sword, because at the same time as the cooling the nutrition of the limb decreases and also causes a stronger narrowing of the small vessels. As a result, the entire blood circulation in the affected limb that has been treated in this way decreases.
In fact, it has been shown that such cold applications can currently alleviate the pain somewhat, but that at the same time the disease process is accelerated. There are degeneration symptoms and necrosis that develop into gangrene. This clearly shows that cold applications are generally harmful in vascular diseases. It is known that the supply of heat to a part of the body increases the metabolism and the nutrition of cells and tissues within certain limits. It is also known that a warming of the body part contributes to the expansion of the vessels.
Investigations by the inventor have now shown that after using the syncardial treatment, the tolerance for the supply of heat is increased, so that such a supply of heat no longer causes pain during the treatment with the massage apparatus according to the invention and the patients then without complaint this W; Endure heat supply.
The present invention relates to a further embodiment of the massage apparatus characterized in the claim of the main patent. According to the invention, the apparatus has a device which enables the body part to be treated to be heated during the massage. This device expediently consists of a heating element which is arranged in such a way that the pressure medium, for example air, supplied to the massage cuffs is heated, whereby means are also provided that allow the degree of supplied heat to be varied within desired and physiologically suitable limits , for example in the range of 20-40 "C. This heating element can expediently be arranged in such a way that it heats at least part of the connection between the pressure vessel and the massage sleeve.
The air chamber mentioned in the main patent when describing an example z. B. can heat the air flowing through adjustable. A device is expediently provided which makes it possible to cool the air escaping from the massage cuff so that the room in which the massage apparatus works is not heated in warm seasons. Appropriately, however, one of the known diathermy devices can also be provided in the apparatus in order to be able to heat the body part to be treated, whereby means can also be provided that allow the disruptive effect of the diathermy apparatus on the massage apparatus, i.e. the diathermy apparatus to suppress interference, for example by earthing the diathermy apparatus.
However, the disruptive effects of the diathermy device built into the massage machine can be remedied by appropriate devices.
An example embodiment of the massage apparatus with a built-in heating device is shown in the figure of the drawing.
In the drawing, 1 denotes the massage apparatus, 2 is an air chamber, 3 is a heater that is attached to the connection line between air chamber 2 and massage sleeve 7 so that it can heat the connection line with adjustable heat as required. Conveniently, the heat supply to the body part to be treated can also be accomplished with a diathermy device instead of by heating the air supplied to the cuff, in which case this diathermy device is also provided in the massage apparatus, whereby the electrodes can then be attached to the area to be treated.
In the figure, 5 denotes this Diathermievorw direction. 6 are the electrodes.
