Additional patent to main patent no. 351807 Pipe connection The present invention relates to a pipe connection. In the main patent, a pipe connection is described with at least one sleeve-like coupling member provided with an internal thread at one end, which is releasably screwed to a second coupling member having an external thread, and which is characterized in that the bore of the sleeve-like coupling member, into which one end of the pipe extends,
has a conically widening towards the second coupling member and a cylindrical part adapted to the pipe outer diameter, and that in the conically widening part of the bore a sealing sleeve receiving the pipe end is provided, which has a conical outer surface which interacts with the conical bore part and a plane End face that rests against a corresponding flat stop surface, wherein the sealing sleeve has a cylin drical inner surface before the coupling members are screwed tight and the conical outer surface has a smaller angle of inclination than the conical bore part of the sleeve-like coupling member,
to produce a radial narrowing of the conical sleeve end and thus a constriction at the pipe end when the coupling members are screwed tight.
The present invention relates to an advantageous further development of the pipe connection claimed in the patent claim of the main patent.
The pipe connection according to the invention is characterized in that the sealing sleeve is made of annealed carbon steel, and the surface is treated with a nitrogen compound, and that the conical bore part of the coupling member is surface-hardened.
In the drawing, two exemplary embodiments of the pipe connection according to the invention are shown enlarged in longitudinal section. The figures show: FIG. 1 the first embodiment, the part of the figure to the left of the line AA showing the connection before and the part to the right of the same showing the connection after the connecting sleeves have been screwed together completely. FIG. 2 shows the second embodiment .
In Fig. 1, <B> 1 </B> and 2 are smooth tubes with unmachined ends, for their connection a sleeve <B> 3 </B> provided with an external thread and one of these Overlapping union nut 4 provided with a corresponding internal thread are used. These two sleeves have at their mutually facing ends <B> each </B> a conical inner surface <B> 5, 6 </B> through which a free space is formed in the area of the pipe ends.
In this free space there are two sealing sleeves 7, 8 each pushed over one end of the pipe in question, which have a cylindrical inner surface for receiving the pipe end, while their outer ends Conical outer surfaces <B> 9, 10 </B> tapering towards the tubes <B> 1, </B> 2. As can be seen from the drawing, these conical surfaces <B> 9, 10 </B> have a smaller angle of inclination than their associated conical inner surfaces <B> 5 </B> and <B> 6 </B> of the sleeves < B> 3 </B> and 4. The sealing sleeves be made of soft, low-carbon steel and are treated on their surface with a nitrogen compound, z.
B. according to the so-called soft nitriding process. Preferably, the same can also be treated with a nitrogen-sulfur compound who the, for. B. According to the so-called. Sulf-Inuz process (registered trademark). These measures protect the sealing sleeves from being seized and improve the sliding properties. The coupling members <B> 3 </B> and 4 are also preferably made of steel. The conical bore part <B> 5, 6 </B> of the coupling members <B> 3 </B> and 4 is surface-hardened, preferably by case hardening.
It is easy to see that when the sleeves <B> 3 </B> and 4 are pulled towards one another, due to the unequal conical surfaces <B> 5, 6 </B> and <B> 9, 10 </B> the turned away from each other sleeve ends <B> 11, </B> 12 are compressed radially inwardly and cause a slight local constriction <B> 13 </B> of the pipe walls over their entire thickness (Fig. 1, < / B> right side).
This recess gradually runs into the original pipe diameter on both sides, i.e. there are no discontinuities and in particular no grooves or notches that would weaken the wall thickness of the pipe ends. In contrast to the previously proposed connection systems of this type, there is no damage to the outer surface of the pipe, but the entire pipe wall is slightly constricted.
By pressing the sleeve ends <B> 11, </B> 12 onto the tubes and the common deformation, a gas- and liquid-tight seal is created at these points at the same time. In addition to the radial forces mentioned, the axial pulling of the sleeves also causes, in particular, an axial compressive force on the sealing sleeves, so that their flat end faces 14 are pressed against one another and also bear against one another in a sealing manner.
It is important here that the sealing sleeves can adjust to one another in such a way that the end faces 14 abut one another over the entire circumference.
Between the pipe ends, which do not have to be machined, an inwardly projecting ring extends <B> 15 </B> of each sealing sleeve. These annular beads serve as stops for the pipe ends, which prevent these leMs from being pushed into the sealing sleeves via the separation point and ensure that the pipes can be expanded in the radial direction without prior axial displacement after the Loosening the connection is possible.
In other cases, these edge beads 15 can also be omitted, so that the pipe ends themselves more or less abut one another and the sealing sleeves have a continuous cylindrical inner surface. In this case, too, it is of course advantageous to attach the pipe connection parts in such a way that the butt joint of the sealing sleeve is in the middle between the pipe ends.
As can be seen from Fig. 1, the pipe connection described can be released by simply unscrewing and pushing back the sleeves, whereupon the pipe ends with the parts sitting on them can be extended in the radial direction. In this way, repairs and changes to the connection points or to closed apparatus and machine areas or the replacement of certain pipe sections can be made without longitudinal displacement or deformation of the pipe parts.
In order to prevent the pipe connection from leaking even when the pipes are deformed in the vicinity of the connection point, it is advisable to adapt the diameter of the cylindrical bore part of the two sleeves 3 and 4 not only to the pipe outer diameter, but also to be allowed to extend over a sufficient axial length, for which the hardness of the pipe and its diameter are decisive.
In Fig. 2, a clamping ring connection, one of the coupling members of which consists of a molded piece instead of a sleeve, is shown. The externally threaded fitting 20, which has a borehole 21 and a flat end face 22, is screwed into a sleeve 4 ', the design of which corresponds to the sleeve 4 in FIG. 1.
This also contains a sealing sleeve <B> 8 '</B> with a conical outer surface 10', the end face 14 'of which is pressed against the end face 22 of the molded piece 20 by means of the clamped sleeve 4', so that between these two Share a liquid- and gas-tight closure is made ago. The design of the sleeve 4 'and the sealing sleeve <B> 8' </B> is otherwise the same as in the case of the corresponding parts in FIG. 1
Of course, pipe ends can also be connected to other parts than molded pieces in the manner shown in FIG. B. with fittings etc.
It has been shown that almost in all cases there is a difference in the angle of inclination between the conical outer surface <B> 101 </B> of the sealing sleeve <B> 8 '</B> and the conical bore part <B> 61 </B> the sleeve 4 'of approximately <B> 51 </B> a low and even insertion "fits around a sufficient <B> C </B> lacing <B> 13' </B> of the pipe 2 'in its When choosing the angle of inclination, it must also be taken into account that there is no jamming between the sleeve and the sealing sleeve when the former is tightened.
The choice of materials and their surface treatment greatly reduce the coefficient of friction between the sealing sleeve and the socket, so that plastic deformation of the sealing sleeve and pipe can occur even with high contact pressures, but no jamming or pitting.
